Today is Toy Washing Day;(

July 7th, 2010 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset Hound and Toy Washing Day Haters……Chaps and Emma are sure one of those!

We wash all of the toys about once a month. It is always a bit touchy because the hounds hate not having their toys. Neither kid plays all that much with their toys but they love knowing the toys are laying in piles all over the house. They walk by and smell around them. Lay next to them. Chaps will occasionally nibble on his favorite.

Toy wash day is a cause for concern…Here is Chaps very concerned. The laundry shoot door is open and Grandma is waiting in the basement.

IMG_7700

We never put them down the shoot unless they are going right into steaming water in the wash machine. We never use soap. I have a fear that all of the soap will not rinse out and then the kids will get sick.

IMG_7697

Chaps is very worried! There goes the monkey toy!

IMG_7694

As you can see in the background, Emma is guarding the living room toys.

IMG_7692

All’s well that end’s well! All toys were washed, dried and back in piles within a few hours. The balance was restored to their world, (and the monkey smelled fresh)!

More keeping the balance later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and PilotsNPaws Lovers! I just love this group and I love following them on all of the social networks. This morning I saw this YouTube video via Twitter and I had to share with my dear readers. It is about 8 minutes long so maybe you can watch it while you are having your lunch!

Maybe we can get TJ on a flight up North! I still have not heard anything about himz. I am going to call the vet shortly and check up on him. His neuter should be over by now!

It’s back to the ole grindstone!

July 6th, 2010 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Grind Stone Haters! And now for some useless knowledge about the grindstone!

Keep your nose to the grindstone

Meaning:

Apply yourself conscientiously to your work.

Origin:

There are two rival explanations as to the origin of this phrase. One is that it comes from the supposed habit of millers who checked that the stones used for grinding cereal weren’t overheating by putting their nose to the stone in order to smell any burning. The other is that it comes from the practice of knife grinders when sharpening blades to bend over the stone, or even to lie flat on their fronts, with their faces near the grindstone in order to hold the blades against the stone.

nose-to-the-grindstone

All the evidence is against the miller’s tale. Firstly, the stones used by millers were commonly called millstones, not grindstones. The two terms were sometimes interchanged but the distinction between the two was made at least as early as 1400, when this line was printed in Turnament Totenham: “Ther was gryndulstones in gravy, And mylstones in mawmany.”

Anyway, what ever that means, but I am sure we all get the gist!

Here is Emma keeping her nose to her grindstone!

Tomorrow is a big day for our TJ!

July 5th, 2010 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and TJ Lovers…..

Tomorrow himz is getting snip, sniped! I am having some control issues knowing that he is so far away. I normally have our homeless a lot closer. Normally, I am going back and forth non stop down to my vet. Butt….with TJ, I really don’t know anything.

I guess, I am a bit worried. I know he has good care about 3 hours due south of me. I just want more! I want more.

I guess it will come later…..

We need to start finding this guy a home! I wish I had my normal pictures. You know this is killing me! I know this is killing all of us. I know he is safe but I just am just worried. I normally get to touch and love on our homeless:(

More later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma

Love the day off! Hate the noise!

July 5th, 2010 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Day Off Lovers! Yes, most everyone is off today kicking back and enjoying the day. I for one am not crazy about this holiday. I hate the never ending firework displays and noise of the 4th of July season. I call it a season because it seems to last as long as the summer. The only thing good about the bad economy is that there seems to be less fireworks this season but all and all it makes no difference to the Mayor. One crack and he is done for. So, I spent my day off cleaning! I thought I would de-hair the dog bed first! Butt, as you can see…..Our Emma was not giving up her comfort just yet!

IMG_7674

So, I decided to vacuum first. This is very interesting. Chaps does not seem to be freaked out at all by the vacuum cleaner. He actually seems like he likes being scared. He stalks towards it, then he backs away. It is very strange.

IMG_7684

So, back to the bed. Nope, still occupied…..

IMG_7678

So, then I have to bring out the big guns! “TREAT, TREAT!” And we all rush to the kitchen.

I get the bed stripped and go shake the blankets…..I have them (I think tucked in the office) butt……I forgot to shut the gate.

IMG_7681

The Mayor is holding his ground…..

IMG_7682

So, I go out back and start to water the flowers. I know the Mayor will follow me. In my house cleaning is a very disjointed process. So, we are out side and GUESS WHAT? Joy of all Joys! Near sonic booms! F-16s are flying over.

F16s

I look down at Chaps for fear he will have a heart attack and he is just laying there licking his paw. F-16 don’t phase him???????

But this turns him into a psycho fear tinkler…..Notice the wet spot on the edge of my Turkish rug. That was from the fireworks the night before.

fireworks

It left me pondering sound proof rooms. So, of course I googled it and found this! Build your own sound proof box!

soundproofbox

I could turn my dining room into a sound proof box. You can see my dining room right behind Chaps in the vacuum picture!

It shouldn’t be to hard too do!

HOWL TO BUILD A SOUND PROOF BOX!

Makes sense to me! It looks like my dining room table would fit! LOL!

More grandiose schemes later! And for the love of Dog, no fireworks tonight!

Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma!

Thomas Jefferson Update! Happy 4th!
