Ahhh….I love my Dad’s Irises

May 14th, 2011 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Iris Loves…My Dad was sure one of those and so am I. He planted these beauties around the light post that he picked out. The Iris was my Grandma’s favorite flower…Grandma Lena.

I looked out the window this morning and a majority of them were in full bloom. Giant juicy purple and white wonders!

First I had to assure the Mayor that I was not going too far! He held steady in his worry bed!

IMG_3059

He is such a delicate flower as we all know!

Here is the shot from the street. You can still see the Mayor. He never left his post!

IMG_3041

So, of course I had to take a few close ups……

IMG_3048

If you look close you can see a few rain drops on the pedals. Oh, it is so beautiful. Just stunning….

IMG_3052

Here we have a rather large clump of Stella de Oro aka Day Beauty. My Dad planted those a well. I just love them. They should be blooming very soon.

IMG_3058

As you can see, the Mayor is still in his window on his worry bed. This week we are going to plant the outdoor worry flower bed. See that patch in front of the window? We don’t want anything too high because it would block his view.

I love spring and seeing my Dad again. Just lovely…..

More blooms to come later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

This makes me sad. Are great ladies like this a thing of the past?

May 13th, 2011 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Great Lady Lovers. I call stately manors like this, Great Ladies. They once stood so proud with their makeup. At night the lights in the windows shown like brilliant jewelry.

Now they are crumbling and sad.

IMG_3031

This home is for sale in my town. It is about 3 minutes from my home. If you click the word home above you will see that the asking price is 549,000. I would think it would take about 1.5 million to bring it back to life. The place is in a shambles.

Here is my car with the Fort water tower in the background.

IMG_3037

This sad and aging lady is located right across the street for the actual Fort that Fort Thomas is named after.

There is an entire neighborhood within sight that is crumbling and should be condemned. It is so sad and shameful. It used to be a majestic site. Here is an old blog I did on it.

SHAMEFUL

5-14-11 Update – this was in the paper yesterday as I was writing this blog. It is an update about the military neighborhood that is crumbling. I am going to link to it here just so I can keep track of it. It is an interesting article.

TOWER PARK HOMES PUT OUT TO BID

IMG_3035

This home is on the National Historic Register and was built back in the mid 1800s. It looks German/Swiss up close. The details were very well thought out.

I feel sorry for Melody Manor. She deserves better….

More wishing I could help elders like this later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Pepto Bismol tablet makes another appearance!

May 11th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Hollow Fellow Basset Hound and tricky hound lovers…..Yes our Mayor is one tricky hound!

This all started about 2 weeks ago. The Mayor was feeling under the weather. He could not keep his meals down and of course I was trying hard to make him feel better.

Here he is under my desk not feeling too good. I did not post it because he started feeling better pretty quickly.

IMG_3026

I called Grandma and told her I was able to get a Pepto Bismol in him. I was so proud of myself. I was certain I got it down. It was wrapped in cream cheese and I had a cream cheese chaser.

Yesterday I was shaking the hair off of the dog bed cover.

When I came back in I saw this…

IMG_3021

Howl did he do it? I even sat on the floor with him. Gently holding his head tilted up and massaging his shoulders. Remember, I had a cream cheese chaser. I was 100% certain it went down.

More finding it did not later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. the scratch marks are from Emma. Some times she hears Grandma go down to the basement and she goes wild. She scratches and cries until her Grandma comes in and give her a treat.

Oh Shimlette!

Himz don’t care for stacking anymore! The only thing he misses from that life is the roar of the crowd. Howl ever we do get that from time to time on our walks….hehehe

More getting out there later……Cat, Chaps and Emma

I was hoping Verna was going to be a Mommy today!

May 8th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wondering about Verna Lovers. Today I woke up and thought to myself, self….I think Verna might be a Mommy on Mother’s Day! hehehe

Well, so far that thought has not come true. I took a picture of her egg babies when she flew off the nest. I think there is some evidence of pecking through on the egg on the right bottom corner. It almost looks like a little white heart shape. What do you think?

IMG_3000

Verna got really mad when I took this picture. She started screaming at me. YIKES!

Chaps came out the dog door to see what was going on……He ran down the steps to assure Verna I was just obsessed with taking pictures…

IMG_2980

See Mommy Verna sitting on the fence?

I feel like Verna loves us. We love her. Happy Mother’s Day Verna…..

More loving our bird girl later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Chaps, the cage and the limo episode of Seinfeld

May 8th, 2011 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Limo Lovers…..

Last night I was laying in bed with Emma (about midnight) watching my favorite episode of Seinfeld called, The Limo. I have seen it about 5 or so times but I still roll with laughter every time I see it. It is so funny. I actually found it on line. I watched the entire episode again to make sure there was no funny business. I wanted to add the link here.

SEINFELD LIMO EPISODE

Anyway, just as I was ROFLMBO I saw a flash of light. OMD – Lighting and a rumble. Chaps was on the couch and then Chaps was off the couch.

Pause the limo episode….

Sorry, this is getting kind of long. BTW, the limo episode is about 22 minutes if you want to watch it.

So, I get up and walk over to “The Cage”. I sit by the cage and start acting like it is the best thing since sliced bread.

This is one of the older pictures but just to give you an image. I am sitting right where the Thundershirt is and the TV is right next to that open cage door. I am happy as a clam.

IMG_2824

I am fawning all over this cage and get this!!!!!!!!!!!

Chaps starts acting interested. I mean interested to the point he is half in half out. Then, there was a small rumble and there goes the rest of his half. I shut the cage door and finish up my laugh fest sitting by the cage. Nothing was ever easier! I think I have found the cure!

Shortly after that we all fall asleep! I have never laughed during a thunder storm. Never! AMAZING!

More loving laughing during storms, limos, and cages later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. I woke up at 3:00am and sprung the hound. He was fast asleep and would have been fine but, I wanted him out.

Happy Mother’s Day!

May 8th, 2011 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Basset Hound Mom Lovers….I want to wish all of the Moms in bassethoundtown a slingin’ big drool from your hounds. They all have their special ways of showing you howl much they love you.

Here is a picture of Chaps Mommy. Here name was Glory of the Roses. I know I have posted it before, but I found it fitting to post again.

Glory of the Roses

The Mayor is inside of her as of this picture.

Since I posted Emma’s Mommy last month on her birthday I will just showcase Glory.

Gotta run…..Lots to eat today! hehehe

More lovin’ a good buffet later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day but today was Dog Day;)

May 7th, 2011 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Dog Day Lovers…..Yes, in bassethoundtown today was Dog Day. Tomorrow Moms will be celebrated but today….It was Chaps and Emma getting the royal treatment! First stop, both kids got a mani/pedi!

Most Moms would love this treatment but the Mayor….not so much.

IMG_2982

Emma was next up! I held her tight while she waited for her treatment!

IMG_2985

After the mani/pedi we stopped off for 2 large bags of hound food.

Our day of beauty was not nearly over! Off to the SPA!

dh

We have been wanting to pop in at Dirty Hairy’s since it opened. Everyone was so helpful!

IMG_2987

Chaps did really good. We were very proud of him. This is the owner. She got us all set up and then we took over!

IMG_2990

Now for our little Simlette! hehehe

IMG_2992

All shined up and ready to go! Beautiful in their bandannas the kids shined like bright stars!

IMG_2997

But the day is not over yet! We have loads of laundry to do! Dog forbid clean hounds get in a dirty bed!

More loving Dog Days later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Flapping Basset Hounds!

May 6th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Flapping Basset Hound Lovers. Please do tell…

Do you have a flapper? It is really the cutest thing in the world! When a hound lays on its back or side and flaps their front paws!

This flappin’ picture was taken about a week ago.

IMG_2802

Here we have the Mayor flappin’ away! He loves to flap, but Emma not so much.

I must ask Grandma. Grandma, have you ever seen Emma flap?

So, I ask you dear readers. Do your hounds flap? I am pretty sure flapping is a happy motion.

I did a video showing some of the Mayor’s flapping motion about 4 years ago! This video NEVER gets old!

Do you have a flapper?

More loving too cute for words later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
