   This is shocking! I can’t believe that people wanted to reward someone who wanted hair (vainity) over someone who wants to give to animals that cannot help themselves. I am sick.

   OMG. I cannot believe that!

   What is wrong with people and their morals & values in this country?
   Are we that superficial?

   Hers was the only respectable unselfish cause on there.

   I just found this website in the bugler. That is how I found out about the show. When I heard, I told everyone I knew to vote. I got on message boards I participate in that aren’t basset related to help spread the word outside of the basset community.

   I personally voted several times. Lets see, it was 5 per phone line & 5 per email.

   I honestly cannot believe he won, or that it was even close. That is so ridiculous!

   We can’t believe Devon didn’t win!!!! That guy can live without hair but the houndies can’t take care of themselves. We are very disappointed, I can’t believe that is what people care about.

   “I am extremely disappointed in the outcome of this show. You put some very frivolous competition up against a truly worthy cause, saving the lives of animals who would otherwise be homeless, neglected and euthanized. And the frivolity won. Shame on ABC and shame on America for voting for such a silly, stupid, frivolous thing–let the young man use Rogaine or Propecia. Living creatures are far more important than vanity.”

   We’re heartbroken for Devon and the MANY senior hounds at Daphneyland and all over. Too bad the other contestant didn’t have a “cause” for anything but himself. At least this blog goes to show that there are still many of us out there who DO CARE!

   Simply shocking that America would vote for some guy who wanted hair over the countless basset hounds that would live in such a beautiful sanctuary.
   So disappointing! Not only that but to look and see all the things they gave to this man for being on the show. Ridiculous. Breaks my heart to see what all of that money could have done for the hounds.

    Add a big “DONATE NOW” button to the top of this blog and Devon will raise more money than she could have ever made from the show! Since she lost animal lovers are going to start searching the internet for ways to donate to her cause.

    I cried. I can not believe that the people in this world chose that disgusting VAIN man over helping homeless animals. I am so sick to my stomach right now. I haven’t been this upset since the news about Steve Irwin. I searched the name “Devon Smith” and basset hounds until I finally found you guys here. I want to know where I can donate. SHAME ON THIS WORLD

    I am so sad – I had to write again. I kept this “Joke” of a show on to see the other contestants. The final two womans dreams are to get their “Slacker” kids out of the house. This show is a joke – what a shame that these selfish people are being voted forward and someone as wonderful as Devon has been voted off. What is happening to this world?

    I am in absolute total shock. Since I read the first postings to the Drool just after 5pm Pacific Time, and knew the outcome, I have been trying to come to terms with the fact we lost to that bald idiot! I know I’m biased, but I really can’t believe that the “Great American Public” were more motivated to vote for him than for Devon.

    Weighing up the vast support throughout the Basset community, plus the numbers of animal lovers out there in the world at large…. I can only assume this was rigged in some way. Either by ABC or by some computer rigging by the guy’s friends at University. I wonder if he’s a computer major???

    Well, I’m still mopping the tears here in the Bay Area. We are stunned….

    I had a friend who suggested a good idea. What if everyone donated a dollar for every vote they made on Devon’s behalf? An easy concept that could make her dream come true. Never under estimate the power of the drool!

    If you haven’t been to Daphneyland and you have the chance you should go, when I die, I want to come back as a basset at Daphneyland. That place is truly beautiful beyond what words could ever express.

    The time to act is now, think of Devon as the FairyAuntie for all the senior houndies across the world, and even then her heart would still have room for more.

    I can not say in polite company what I think of ABC or that stupid show,Someone should send the guy a can of turtle wax for his head. Who needs hair anyway. I think that that show is a sorry attempt
    to keep up with Fox. Devon was wonderful and her
    dream is a noble one that can be done without the likes of ABC. If every Drooler donates that voted
    she will have her dream. I would like to see every state have a home like Devon wants for the older Hounds. God Bless you Devon , Lets all pray for Devon’s dream to come true without ABC

    I just found out that Devon didn’t win her wonderful selfless dream…to provide a loving, caring place for such adorable dogs. I am horrified and I hope that the self-centered balding guy sleeps well tonight. Can you imagine when it’s time to meet his Maker and God asks, “So son, what did you do to spread my love on earth during your life?” “Well God, I took lots of money that could have been used to help others and got this cool lookin’ hair weave…after all, it’s just about me!”

    To Devon and her Dear Sweet Bassets: We are devastated at the outcome of the show. I watched in disbelief as the winner was announced. What is this country coming to were a man in need of a hair transplant takes the place of an animal who can’t care for itself. Do people not understand that animals have feelings. They cry, they starve, they have anxiety, they have fear, they have happiness and what they give back to us, which is unconditional love is far more priceless that a BALD MAN getting Hair.     I do not even own a hound – Well I have a lab (guess that counts) But I am DEEPLY disappointed in America – I can not beleive that outcome. I voted via home phone/work lines included and cell phones. I even had people who did not watch the show voting, just becuase…. so you tell me how this happened! I was so nervous I could not even watch Wednesday night…. but Devon you were great and I hope this dream comes true!
