Kip and Gus, inspire me! Have a smile on them today!

May 31st, 2007 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound Lovers: What a way to start your day! I received an order this morning that really touched my heart. It was from Kip and Gus Massett. Kip and Gus previously donated to Devon’s Dream in Chloe and Lily’s name. Also, Gus, seen below, took my advise. I suggested donating to the House of Puddles, in Dad’s name instead of buying a gift for him this Father’s Day! Gus, the old hounds love you for it!

Hound rescue in Brazil – Wonderful video – so sweet!

May 26th, 2007 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound Lovers: This is an e-mail from my friend near Brazil. I asked her about basset hound rescue in her country. She is very involved and responed with this message. Also watch the video, it is soooooooooo cute! More Later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Dear Cathy:

These encounters are made once a month in a park in the city of Porto Alegre state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It is a city to the south of Brazil
We marked the encounters for the community of the Basset Hounds of Porto Alegre, in Orkut.
We created the Projeto “Zoreba Esperança”, where the people bring donations in the encounters, that are given to entities of ransom of abandoned animals.
I ordered to do shirts with the information on Blog, and the income was reverted on behalf of the friends of four paws. We sold a lot of shirts, and we have more orders. This campaign seeks to join a sense of social action to our encounters .
The basset in the picture is my Echol, that sits up to win cookies
He is very funny and he makes success in the encounters.
We will love you to know!
With the friends’ from Brazil a lot of affection…

Karen, Carlos, Leopoldo, Abigail and Echolake!

This poem says it all. The House of Puddles needs our help.

The House of Puddles

2037

There is a house where love abounds

A house of Senior Basset Hounds

There are no walkers or depends

Just lots of happy Basset friends

We are the old ones who have turned gray

And now get to live another day

We all are happy and well fed

We even have our very own bed

Our Mom works hard, it costs a lot

And we are grateful for the things we got

If you could help we would be glad

That no other hound would be sad.

So check the purse strings of your heart

Just a few dollars could be a start

We all will thank you with a great Arooooo

The House Of Puddles and our Mom too.

P.S. I have an idea: Instead of buying birthay or holiday gifts this year for adults, donate to the house of puddles in their name. Comments?

Elvis – Gave his life – A basset hound’s ultimate gift

May 24th, 2007 - 7:07 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound Lovers: As many of you know, Elvis, the basset hound, gave his life for his 2 year old boy. Elvis fought off a vicious attack from a pit bull. Desperate for information, many of us rallied to have Elvis recognized. These efforts yielded precious few leads into the life of Elvis. Today, we received a short note that was posted on the daily drool thanking those of us who contacted the family, for our words of encouragement, sympathy and support after the traumatic death of Elvis, on Monday April the 30th 2007. Mr. Ken Johnson, bassethoundtown.com’s Poet Laureate has written this lovely piece in Elvis’ honor and memory. Hopefully, some day soon we will obtain a picture of Elvis. Elvis will be the first hound that will be inducted into the basset hound town hall of fame later this year.

Please feel free to leave a comment. Some day the family of this hound may read our thoughts, prayers, and wishes for this devoted hound.

Tribute to a Basset Named Elvis

On silent velvet paws he now patrols Gods golden halls

No pain he feels forevermore, no wants or troubles

For him are in store.

His life he gave to save a child from a Pit Bull gone wild.

On that day an honor guard of his kindred stood

As he crossed Rainbow bridge to his eternal neighborhood

And when God saw what he had done God said Elvis,

You are the one that will welcome in those of your kind and kin

You gave your life for a Human so small

Welcome now Elvis to my Heavenly Hall.
