A note from a foster family! Andrea and Carl

July 13th, 2007 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow hound and foster family lovers:

Andrea and Carl are foster parents for Suncoast basset hound rescue in FL. They are also members of Chaps and Emma’s Fanny Club. Those are their dogs on the home page today, 7-13-07. That picture just makes me smile. Dudley is the basset and Abby is the Golden.

I thought her e-mail was so cute and touching that I had to share. She said, “of course”! She originally e-mailed me checking on Gus at the HOP

Here is her e-mail.

What a relief that he is doing well. It is inconceivable what people will do. Can you imagine being dumped in your old age and you are sick and confused and alone?

My crew is doing very good. Abby and Duchess the foster got baths today but Dudley got out of it by burrowing into the sofa and pretending he didn’t see me rounding everyone up for bath time. He was so cute so I just went along with it and let him think he was invisible. He’ll get his bath tomorrow along with Molly.

Dudley, hiding in plain site!

Duchess the foster
is going to meet some potential people on Sunday. The husband works with my husband and we are pretty sure it will work out. Her picture is on the SBR website.

Fostering is much more emotional for me than I expected. I am pretty attached to animals and I knew it would be hard but this is more heart wrenching than I thought it would be. But, I am trying to remember that she was dumped at the pound and rescued and is now going to live with a nice family. There are 2 little girls. One is 10 yrs old and already bought her a bed so Duchess will be sleeping in her room. (that’s what they think Miss Duchess will be sleeping in the bed I know this from experience).

Thanks for keeping such a wonderful website.

Andrea

No! Thank you Andrea and Carl for all you do on the front lines. I could never be a foster parent, because I am to weak emotionally. I know where I can be of the biggest help and I don’t venture from it! Keep up the fantastic work!
