A note from Sharon:
Three years ago, she had a Grade 2 cancer in the mouth. She was given about a year to live. She has been spunky and as full of herself as always until last Tuesday. I noticed she was a little lethargic, on Wednesday, she seemed to be having difficulty getting around. Took her to the vet on Thursday and put her on pred. She was completely down by Friday morning and lost control of all bodily functions. She would not eat, but drank some. Richard, left her side to go and visit his Aunt and then returned to Roses. We knew the time had come and she was letting us know. She could not wag her tail, but she responded to our touch. Richard slept with her on Sunday night and we took her to the bridge on Monday Morning. We kissed her goodbye and let her go.
We know she ran across the bridge to Mama Daisy, Augie,
Cayenne and Cinnamon. We have laughed and said, it was a good thing that Augie went before her. We just know that she would have guarded the gate to heaven, as she did the doggie door and would not have let him in. Love Sharon
Thank you for sharing with us Sharon: Rose’s was Bassethoundtown.com’s Chairhound on aging, and she aged beautifully.
I must tell all who read this that she is the reason I have Emma and Chaps.
It was love at first site for me when I saw her at the Nationals in St. Louis several years ago.
I still had Chloe and Lily at the time. I never forgot her and I never will. It was sweet Roses that lead me to Emma and Chaps.
Lily passed one night and I did not sleep. I called Roses’ Mom in the morning. I needed Roses. Her Mom, Sharon, was right there for me. We talked for a long time about Roses because Sharon knew I was grieving Lily. Sharon kept my mind off of Lily and we laughed about Roses. About the time she was in a huge agility event and Sharon’s husband was sitting ring side. Roses saw him and ran fast as she could and jumped into his lap. Of course, Richard was banned from ring side from that point forward. It is these stories that Sharon told me to comfort me that day that I remember now. Now that Roses has left us. My Roses. The Roses that brought Chaps and Emma to me. I tucked the thought of Roses in my mind the day I saw her. I still had Chloe and Lily. I was mad at myself for doing it. But when the most awful thing in the world happened, I had Roses. She was there for me that day. Sharon answered the phone. My life had a glimmer of hope. Sharon is my sister now. We are bonded by hounds. We are bonded by love. To know Roses was a true honor. Love, Cat, Chloe and Lily.
I bet Roses and Lily are hanging out with Agnes at the chicken mcnugget bush at Rainbow Bridge right now. It is so hard when they pass over. ((((Cat))))
Thank you Melynda. You give me so much comfort.. Roses was and is my every thing.
Sorry about Roses Cat. Think of the fun Roses and Lily are having together. Then the day will come when they stop playing, raise their ears, look and see their human coming towards them, never again to be apart. I believe that!!
Im so sorry to hear about Roses. She was always there when we came to visit Luke as a puppy, or when we just came to visit Sharon and Richard. I know she will be missed by all!
