Today – July 14, 2007 is Ralphies Official Gotcha Day.
Having gained weight, and then had his vet appointment on Friday the 13th – he was so very lucky and got himself a home with a previous basset adopter – Michael &; Roseanna Peppo of Travis fame.
Ralphie has gone home to chew on their trees for awhile…RALPHIE HAS A HOME!!!!!!!

Thanks Dawni! That’s one more hound saved from the clutches of careless people. Also, if Michael and Roseanna are reading this, please keep us updated with pictures! We here at bassethoundtown.com love Ralph and many of us donated to his medical care and rescue. He is a dear hound and we will post any pictures you send.

Firecracker Pups! The Movie! Coming Soon!

July 13th, 2007 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Firecracker pup lovers. Devon is in production on her new movie. It is still a working title and I hear the stars are very hard to work with. What’s the problem? They will not wake up! What’s the use of a movie, if there is no movement. I am sure Devon, as a top notch director will make them focus and find their inner star power.

Quite on the set! Really, I mean quite! All the pups are sleeping!

Devon, when you get it in the can, let us know. More Later… Cat, Chaps and Emma

It is blazin’ hot in bassethoundtown. How about a cooling YouTube video, Ahhhh

July 13th, 2007 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow hound and snow lovers. Just watching this video helps cool a hound down. The dog days of summer are upon us so we had to find something to cool us down. Enjoy

A note from a foster family! Andrea and Carl

July 13th, 2007 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow hound and foster family lovers:

Andrea and Carl are foster parents for Suncoast basset hound rescue in FL. They are also members of Chaps and Emma’s Fanny Club. Those are their dogs on the home page today, 7-13-07. That picture just makes me smile. Dudley is the basset and Abby is the Golden.

I thought her e-mail was so cute and touching that I had to share. She said, “of course”! She originally e-mailed me checking on Gus at the HOP

Here is her e-mail.

What a relief that he is doing well. It is inconceivable what people will do. Can you imagine being dumped in your old age and you are sick and confused and alone?

My crew is doing very good. Abby and Duchess the foster got baths today but Dudley got out of it by burrowing into the sofa and pretending he didn’t see me rounding everyone up for bath time. He was so cute so I just went along with it and let him think he was invisible. He’ll get his bath tomorrow along with Molly.

Dudley, hiding in plain site!

Duchess the foster
is going to meet some potential people on Sunday. The husband works with my husband and we are pretty sure it will work out. Her picture is on the SBR website.

Fostering is much more emotional for me than I expected. I am pretty attached to animals and I knew it would be hard but this is more heart wrenching than I thought it would be. But, I am trying to remember that she was dumped at the pound and rescued and is now going to live with a nice family. There are 2 little girls. One is 10 yrs old and already bought her a bed so Duchess will be sleeping in her room. (that’s what they think Miss Duchess will be sleeping in the bed I know this from experience).

Thanks for keeping such a wonderful website.

Andrea

No! Thank you Andrea and Carl for all you do on the front lines. I could never be a foster parent, because I am to weak emotionally. I know where I can be of the biggest help and I don’t venture from it! Keep up the fantastic work!

Update on my boyfriend, Gus – newest resident at the HOP

July 12th, 2007 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Gus Lovers: The Gus on my home page is not this same Gus. The Gus on my home page has a wonderful family and is a very benevolent hound. He is actually donating money to the House of Puddle’s Gus who now has a new wonderful Mom named Marilyn.

Here is a portion of the original posting for the HOP Gus, aka my new boyfriend.

7-6-07:

Howllo fellow hound lovers: Can you imagine an old basset guy getting dropped off in front of a PetSmart, skinny and sick?

They said someone just dropped him off in front of the store and drove off. He wandered in on his own and they fixed him a bed and called the humane society.

He is now at the House of Puddles. Thank Dog he found his way to the House of Puddles.

7-12-07: Photo credit goes to Melynda, Lucien and Lilly’s Mom and volunteer, HOP!

Gus was diagnosed with heartworm and is currently on medications. He was so tired at first and could barely wag his tail.

2630

Gus is being monitored by Marilyn the founder of the HOP and CEBR. (chief executive belly rubber)!

Gus is feeling a bit better and is now roaming around.

2633

He was still not eating as much as Marilyn would like, until a few days ago! Look at the sight that Marilyn saw!

2639

Good boy Gus! Look, he even saved a snack for later, according to Marilyn! Click the picture and look at his ear!

2641

Well, things are looking up for my boyfriend and I am sending him cyber slobber. He seems to be fitting right in.

2636

That’s Gus on the far left. He looks like he will fit in just fine. I love you Gus, and all of the Hoppers!

You can donate to the HOP via this link! If not now, book mark it for the holiday season and give in the name of a loved one.

You should SEE them swimming around in that tub…… a seething mass of puppy bellies.
We keep putting new towels in, Roxie pulls them out or moves them off to the side. lol.

Last night Roxie came out for a quick potty break, and the next thing I knew she catapulted over Barnaby on my bed and spooned right in, in about a nano-second. She is SUCH a doll!”

Roxie’s pups, 5 days old and cuter by the second!

July 9th, 2007 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and pup lovers: Today Roxie’s pups are 5 days old! They look amazing.

2613261726092615260726112619

Roxie and Dawn are doing a great job. I know many other folks are helping and I will be updating this blog with many more names very shortly! I hope to have names of the pups from Dawn soon as well!

On a sad note. Roxie rejected poor little Zach. It was totally her call and with the help of Dawn and several attempts, it was not a match. Little Zach will be staying at the BaRNI of Daphneyland vet’s office so he can be monitored closly. He has come this far! Sling some drool for him. I will keep track of this little stinker. I bet he grows up to do great things!
