Can you say, “ROAD TRIP?”

August 17th, 2007 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Road Trip Lovers: The OMBR “bassengers” took off this morning from Wedington Animal Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Relay kicked off early as 5 of the 24 x-mill hounds are being shepherded to two different rescue groups with one goal! FOREVER HOMES! and all that that entails. The two groups are New England Basset Hound Rescue and Mid-Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue.

Sherry of OMBR saw off the 5 bassengers this morning and states,
“We got all the dogs off safely this morning and they were so cute! They were happy and healthy and certainly not the same dogs we picked up 3 weeks ago. These dogs were enjoying life, and better yet, have discovered the joys of the belly rub and how nice people can be!”

Sherry, you and the folks of OMBR do great work! What is also truly amazing is the work that Tanya does orchestrating the massive 22 leg journey. It is just so touching. Well, here are the 3 I will meet tomorrow morning in Springfield, OH, just outside of Dayton.

Have basset hauling vehicle, will haul! This journey is dedicated to the memory of Sarah, who passed away due to complications from her spay surgery this week. She is our travel angel. I love you Sarah. God Speed sweet girl.

Remembering Elvis

August 16th, 2007 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Elvis Lovers: Here is the YouTube video of Elvis singing to the basset hound. It is about at 4 minutes 30 seconds into the recording. That basset did so good. I wonder who that was? I wonder if it was Cleo from the TV series that was popular around that time, called “The People’s Choice”?

(A bit about Cleo’s TV show)

Jackie Cooper stars as New City councilman Socrates “Sock” Miller. Patricia Breslin plays Mandy Peoples, daughter of New City’s Mayor, who has her eyes set romantically on Sock. Her father is very much against this relationship as he believes Sock is a bit too unstable to provide Mandy a decent future. Sock lives in a trailer court with his Aunt Gus who supports the relationship with Mandy. Other regulars characters include Sock’s mooching service buddy Rollo and Crutcher, the former councilman and rival for Mandy that Sock beat in the election. The writing is clever, the cast is very good and it’s all given a little extra craziness as the audience is allowed to hear what Sock’s basset Cleo is thinking in relation to the action. Eventually Sock and Mandy get married but keep it a secret as long as they can. This show is more then just inventing the secret marriage ploy. It is genuinely funny. If you like the era it may be for you. If not or if you can’t stand black and white (too bad because you miss out on many good programs)then avoid this. However, if you don’t mind black and white and enjoy dialog that isn’t one continuous sexual innuendo please take a look. Cleo is a great!

Well folks, there you have it, our own little tribute to Elvis in bassethoundtown.com. Who of our residents have seen him perform live?

Basset hound fetches the paper!!!!

August 14th, 2007 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and newspaper lovers: I cannot believe this. My Dad always jokes about how Chaps and Emma can learn a new word for treat in a nano second. For example I just got a new treat I call apple cookie. All I had to do is say it once. Anyway, he said, “If you tried to train them to get the paper, it would take a life time.” Well maybe not, if you use a treat! Tehehehehehehehehe!

May I present Maxine adopted from Las Vegas Basset Hound Rescue! What a good girl. A girl after my Dad’s heart! Slurp!

Run sheet for 6 of the OMBR 24 2nd update 8/14

August 13th, 2007 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Bassenger lovers: 5:21 pm KY time

I just got word that only 4 legs remain of the 22 legs. This will happen. I will update the run below so everyone can see it. Please look to see what is remaining and if you know anyone in these areas that can help. The runs are really short.

Hello Fellow Hound and Tanya Kittrell Lovers: Many of you have seen this cross posting over the last week but it cannot be re-posted enough. This is a run sheet for the cordination of 6 of the 24 Ozark Mountain Basset Rescue Mill Hounds that need rides to two different rescue groups.

Folks, I spent several hours yesterday reading and trying to understand how Tanya does this. She is a saint. This is a massive blog posting, but please take the time to see the work involved to help these six hounds get to a better place.

Howllo Fellow Hound and newspaper lovers: Joyce Rosencrans of the Cincinnati Post called me a few days ago because she heard I lived with my parents in a two family home that I own.
