What is the DREAM?

Devon has a dream – and that Dream is to be able to build and maintain a Senior Basset Hound Center – speicifcally for the older hounds to live in comfort while they await adoption through BaRNI – Basset Rescue Network.

This dream will need funding in the form of food, supplies, building funds as well as the seniors vet care funding – She is raising money for her dream and the necklace is just one of her many ways.

It has taken months, but the finished product is here!

The pictures of the necklace do not do the actual piece justice. The blue, metal, dog tag, shaped like a bone is heavily encrusted with swarovski crystals. It is a true eye catcher with hope and meaning. The back of the tag is engraved with one word. The word that says it all. *DREAM* On each side of the word is one swarovski crystal.

Howllo Fellow Hound and free money lovers: On 6-15-07 I turned 50 and I began my first ever fund raiser called, LILY’S BASSET BUCKS. Howllo Fellow Hound and FYI Lovers: I just read this in the KY Post paper tonight: 8-10-07
MENU FOOD INCOME FUND, The Canadian pet food maker at the center of this year’s pet food recall, reported a 3.4 million dollar net loss for the second quarter. It said it will sell its South Dakota plant for 26.3 million dollars to Mars, which no longer wants Menu to produce its Royal Canin and Nutro brands. Menu re-called more than 60 million cans of pet food in March and some were found to contain imported Chinese ingredients tainted with an industrial chemical.

Howllo Fellow Hound and Weekend Lovers: Anyone have any special plans for this weekend? Here in bassethoundtown.com it is almost too hot to go out. This is unfortunate, because I have my sister’s pug for the next 10 days. He loves to run outside. His name is Enzo. I am sure some of you already know that. Here is a picture of him and my nephew Julian.

Chaps is not too thrilled but Emma goes berserk. She is the most social hound I have ever seen.

Howllo Fellow Hound and daily drool lovers. The daily drool board is down due to unknown circumstances. The Mod Squad is doing it’s best to get it back up and drooling as soon as possible. If the board remains down I will post messages on this blog regarding anything I hear. I have been on the daily drool since 1995. I wonder if I was one of the original 7 members? I will have to check that out.

Howllo Fellow Hound and OMBR lovers: Wow, talk about acting fast. The fantastic folks at OMBR receive a call on 7-29-07 from an evil puppy mill stating that 24 hounds needed to be picked up “that day” or else….

In the words of Menzie Campbell of OMBR, “We don’t feel at all burdened by this sudden call to take in 24 dogs. On the contrary, OMBR is HONORED to be able to save these beautiful bassets from a life of constant breeding, and the horrible conditions they were living in. NO dog should ever have to live in a puppy mill.”

Amen to that sister! I am honored to know you and the people you work tirelessly with to help these wonderful creatures called basset hounds. The sweetest hounds around.
