“We need a senior center!!!!! Yesterday!!!” Dawn of the West

September 11th, 2007 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and old Hound lovers: Dawn of Daphneyland was updating me on some BaRNI intakes. I don’t know how she does it. I can’t keep track, and I know I got some of this wrong. Dawni, please e-mail me with corrections or additions.
They had 11 intakes last with with a 13 1/2 year old OTI arriving this Monday.

Dawn states,
“Got a basset – spuds mckenzie mixed pup on Wednesday, a pair of 3 year olds from a local acton person loosing their home on Thursday, a senior bagel from Coachella Valley on Thursday via transport, Jill Peterson brought us the Wasco basset last night. This morning we’re expecting:
Sleepy at the airport via the Alsups
A shelter mix up has a young english pointer headed our way who will be networked thru Life 4 Paws
A pair of 9 &10 year olds that are being transported from Fresno via Valerie Epps and the Kuwahara Team.

Then there is a very sad girl…. no name as of yet that Kerri is grabbing out of Riverside and driving up…. photo will make you cry…..”

3137Her name is Biscuit.

Kerri and Jade (her daughter) arrived with windows open – A/C on high.
Biscuit was in the back, -2- potty accidents and she refused to lay down the whole drive… it was about a 2 hour transpot.

Into the tub immediately, she went thru:
Antimicrobial bath (hair is falling out in huge clumps – abuse thru burns as well as infection)
Skin conditioner
Vitamin C treatment
Pure Aloe
Homepathics beyond belief…..

Kerri and Jade helped triage her in and she has such attitude she’s telling me off the whole time.
Refused pig ears thank you very much, but wanted ham slices.

We had 5 intakes today……
And its dinner time……

Stay tuned…Dawni

(Sleepy – Mitch was transported in by the alsups via a car ride)

A long day, getting longer all the time
Hugs
Dawni

P.S…….

Dawn states, “Last night found us with -2- more email alerts, both are pairs of seniors dumped at shelters…. one pair in No Cal are mixes, the pair in Orange County are pures……..
We need a senior center!!!!! Yesterday!!!

I hear ya Dawni! Let’s all keep the dream alive.

DEVON’S DREAM OF A SR. CENTER PLEASE DONATE

Patrick and I and our basset wrangler Lisa Berger visited the ranch Saturday by car, since Agua Dulce airport was closed due to the fire north of Daphneyland. We brought in Mitch the bagle and the pointer mix.

We were able to visit with Ralphie and Roxie and her puppies (the puppies we saw from a distance, since both the dogs we were transporting had kennel cough.)

Both Ralphie and Roxie look wonderful! When we met Ralphie in Sacramento, he was all bones and long legs. Now he’s a healthy, happy puppy (and huge!)

I was expecting Roxie to still be painfully thin after nursing eight puppies, but she had filled out and looked fabulous. Her fur has gone from rough and malnourished to soft and silky. And the puppies are perfect. If you’d met her in Modesto, thin despite the pregnancy, and nervous, you’d never know this beautiful, confident dog was the same girl.

The ladies at Daphneyland are doing an amazing job!

Thank You Theresa it was great to see you, Patrick and Lisa again. Roxie does look great. Out vet said that we would not be able to put any weight on her while she was taking care of her pups. But we did. 3 weeks into the care of her new pups Roxie filled out completely. Goats milk really does the trick. Now to the pups

Well these little beasts are 10 weeks old this Wednesday comming up.
Dugie went home Sunday night to the Queenen household to be a little
brother to Maggie, Crash, Hunter and foster boy Pacey. I feel for all
you. LMAO Dugie has a great pair of lungs. Their are 6 pups left. 2
girls (1 tan and white and 1 tri) 4 boys (1 tan and white, 2 tri’s and
1 r/w) all the tri’s are lightening up. The pups flew in while still in
Roxies tummy and popped out 4 days after they landed. I have since learned that dogs also
play favorites. As the biggest of the dogs who just happens to be red
and white and weighs in at 18 pounds ( this is what daily quarts of
goats milk does for mom and pups) he is Roxies favorite as she has
never corrected him, he is a bully, but adorable. Now for the little
tan and white princess, Roxie rolled her and screamed at her daily, why
she is such an angel and my favorite of course. These guys are/were
lots and lots of work, but is was great fun watching them grow and come
into their attitudes, they will train their slaves well. It has come to
the end of puppydom as it is time for them to leave the nest. BaRNI
will be searching for Basset experienced homes only, a slave or slaves
that will be trained right. Wish these babies luck, they are very
    special.

I would like to thank everyone who helped with the pups as well as all the donations for them.

Carol, Thanks so much for this update. I am going to move it to a blog posting soon. I was wondering this exact thing this morning, that is when Roxie’s pups would be ready to be adopted. I bet you will miss them. Thanks for the update, Cat, Chaps and Emma

    Hi Everyone!!!
It was a spectacular day out at the ranch on Saturday! Biscuit sure is a live wire, although one of the saddest and most heartwrenching sites I have ever seen. I have set up a FirstGiving page for her. If you would like to contribute to her care you can go here and read her story!

My God, that picture of Biscuit is so not real. I can’t believe it. Who could possibly be so evil they could let this happen. I can’ stop crying. I would feel a tad bit better if I could get my hands around their necks. I just want to hold this little girl and love her. She will need a lot of that. Please keep me posted on Biscuit.
We really do need that Sr Center so bad. We all need to group together NOW and get er done.
These folks at Daphneyland are unbelievable. There has to be a pair of wings sprouting out of her back.
Thankyou all for what you do.

Biscuit is doing alot better. Fresh Aloe form the real live plant has been put on her burns everyday since intake and her skin is healing nicely, her tude is the same, she is still telling everyone off. She is wonderful. BaRNI is very greatful for having found people who step up to help save the seniors without any questions. My goal is all seniors saved from the shelters (in So. Calif, Fresno, Kern and in between). BaRNI has achieved that so far since beginning in Nov 2005. Thank You Kerri, Sandra BaRNI’s shelter coordinator’s As well as Devon, David and so many others. Thank You all from my heart.
