Howllo Fellow Hound and Hounds in need lovers: This just in from Susan of Bluegrass Basset Hound Rescue. The Humane Society in Clarksville TN., contacted her about this young girl.
Susan states, “The Humane Society in Clarksville TN is sending me info and a picture of a 2 yr old female whose elderly owner has had multiple heart attacks and can no longer care for her. She is not spayed but if someone will foster her, we will take care of that.
She is housebroken and great with kids. 39 pounds. 1 yr 10 mos old. Will be vetted before a foster home takes her. Need to get her in foster care ASAP because elderly owner has had medical emergency and friend with the dog has her listed as free on various lists.
This one is in danger of becoming a breeder as she’s on a ‘Free to good home” list….”
Can you pass this blog posting along to anyone who can foster this little good girl. Poor thing is just starting her life. Clarksville, TN looks like it is on the Western, KY boarder close to Nashville.
If you can help, please contact froggie0310@bellsouth.net
She is so cute!
More later….Cat, Chaps and Emma
Great news! Mid Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue will take her! BUT, we could still use foster care for the days until the transport can get started. If anyone can help, please let me know!
That is wonderful that she has a home. I sure hope someone can foster her until she can get home.
Cat, I received my cards in the mail today and they are wonderful!!!! Beautiful!!!
Have you found a foster home yet?
Chris, we have not. I will be in contact with Susan tonight or tomorrow and ask if she has heard anything. She is a real doll! I am working my network and I know Devon is as well. I will keep you posted! Cat
Unfortunately, the woman who contacted the Humane Society gave the dog away right after begging for the HS’s help. People are so darn impatient!!!! We can only hope that the family who got her will spay her (they DID ask the woman if the Humane Society would help pay for it and the HS already told me they’d do it for free just to get her out of the breeding pool–now let’s hope they really do contact them.)
We tried, but without foster homes immediately available, we won’t be able to save them all, much less very many at all at this rate.
Susan: What a shame. I really hope that the spay goes forward. You are so correct with your comments about the need for foster families. I will keep searching for them.
Thank you so much for your update!
Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Do you have any facilities in your area that would board them for a few days for a reasonable price? I sincerely hope the new owner gets her spayed but we may never know. It just seems a shame that we can’t get them out of the situation and keep them kenneled for a few days while transport is arranged.
But I’ll hope this baby has a wonderful home and a long & happy life.
Chris
We use a kennel that costs us $6 a day, but it’s an hour from me. The ones here are $12 a day. The problem with emergency kenneling is that kennels require the dogs to have been vaccinated, and 99% of the time they’re not or it can’t be proven they have been, and that means trying to get an appt at a vet first. I work 3 days a week (volunteer, but it is paying for my kids’ school tuition) and finding time to get to the vet is hard–esp. short notice. And even if I could do all of that, where is the $12 a day going to come from? I am picking up the bonded pair Tuesday. They’ve been kenneled since Wednesday. That’s going to be $168 out of my pocket because the rescue has no funds to cover it and I’m the one who said we’d take them, so the cost falls to me. I hope our upcoming fundraiser is successful!! Cat said she’d post about it. My kids are doing it and it’s looking to be fun!
Hello!
I have a young male neutered Basset 2-3 yrs. old that needs a new home. I am living with my parents and can no longer care for him.
