Basset Hound Club of America – News

January 21st, 2008 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllow Fellow Hound and BHCA lovers:

I was just reading the January/February issue of the Tally-Ho. From now on, all issues are going to be in color which will be great because the Tally-Ho has fantastic pictures of basset hounds from some of the top breeders in the world.

I have been a member since I rescued Natalie from the pound in 1994. Anything basset hound and I am all over it. At that time the publication, well….was not very good. So, after awhile I let my membership lapse. Then, I wanted to re-join and have been a member ever since.

I found the following motion very interesting. I was very pleased that the board has decided to donate to these grants that will better our beloved-ed breed. So many of us have hounds or have had hounds who have suffered through these types of medical issues. Anything to better our breed’s health is well worth the money spent!

Motion #07-08
I move, “That the BHCA partially support the following grant requests out of the AKC/CHF Basset Hound Donor Advised Fund”:

Motion: Brian Pechtold
Second: Gene McDonald
Voting Yes: (9) Brandt, Engle, Ferguson, Kintner, Lane, McDonald, Pechtold, Rush, Williams
Voting No:
Abstain:
Vote not received: Opeka,
Motion passed and is resolved

I think it is great that our club will be apart of researching these very important heath issues. I will keep everyone updated.

A healthy hound makes for a happy family.

THIS IS THE CORRECTED POSTING FOR THE ELDERLY LADY IN NEED!

Howllo Fellow Hound and Bonnie lovers!

MO129.7636192_2_x.jpg

Bonnie, age 11 (approx) is in a desperate situation. She is part of a trio that need homes. The other two have found their way into the loving care of:
House of Puddles and Sr. Hounds Abound.

These 3 were living together but due to a health emergency, the foster mother has with her daughter, they have to be placed urgently.

The reason Bonnie is harder to place is because she is an Alpha Female. She gets along great with the males in the home but she wants to rule the roost as the only gal! My goodness, give the girl what she wants! To be the only gal in the pack, or just an only hound!

Bonnie is currently in foster care with 4 the Hounds Basset Rescue Inc.

They are located in Reed Spring, MO

Here is her Petfinder page. Click here to see Bonnie and how sweet she is!

She is so cute, just look at her!

Can you love this older gal? I bet she will make you smile all day long.

Click on the Petfinder link right above for all of the contact information. Or e-mail me:

Happy Birthday KIP! Here is your present!

January 13th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Kip Lovers! Today is Kip’s birthday, 1-13-08 and we have a present for him. It is in honor of his new fund-raiser called, CHANGE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Here is what Kip is proposing…..

“How about for the next month we take a jar and throw our change in that jar at the end of the day. At the end of the four week period, take the jar to the bank, they can run the change through their change machine thingy, give you the cash and then send it off to Marilyn. Enough of us doing that could really add up to a nice amount. It would be fun to see what all our change will add up to and think how good we will feel. I am starting today. Who else would like to join in? I will post my total Feb. 10th.”

Donations…

All donations are used to help pay for food, veterinary care and other healthcare needs of the dogs.

As a 501(c)3 charitable organization, donations to House of Puddles are tax deductible.

Checks can be mailed to:

:hop:hop:hop
House of Puddles, Inc.
4422 Reels Mill Rd.
Frederick, Md. 21704

Or you can donate to olddogs@houseofpuddles.org with PayPal

OK, here is bassethoundtown.com’s present to you!

3806

We had already started collecting our change and as you can see it looks pretty hefty for just a few days! (OK, I cleaned my car) Teehehehehehehehe!

In honor of your birthday and your new fund-raiser Chaps and Emma will match whatever is in the jar on 2-10-08! We will send Marilyn the total in Gus and your names.

We love you KIP! Thanks for all of the help you do for hounds and the inspiration you provide as a friend and a co-fund-raiser!

CHANGE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

The below blog happened last night and this morning. Thing can change in bassethoundtown in a wag of a tail! Stay tuned!

********************************************************************

Howllo Fellow Hound and Hounds in need lovers: This just in from Susan of Bluegrass Basset Hound Rescue. The Humane Society in Clarksville TN., contacted her about this young girl. Dogtwo.jpg

Susan states, “The Humane Society in Clarksville TN is sending me info and a picture of a 2 yr old female whose elderly owner has had multiple heart attacks and can no longer care for her. She is not spayed but if someone will foster her, we will take care of that.

She is housebroken and great with kids. 39 pounds. 1 yr 10 mos old. Will be vetted before a foster home takes her. Need to get her in foster care ASAP because elderly owner has had medical emergency and friend with the dog has her listed as free on various lists.

This one is in danger of becoming a breeder as she’s on a ‘Free to good home” list….”

Can you pass this blog posting along to anyone who can foster this little good girl. Poor thing is just starting her life. Clarksville, TN looks like it is on the Western, KY boarder close to Nashville.
