Tucson owners hoping Bling Bling ends breed’s Best in Show drought

Howllo Fellow Hound and Show Dog Lovers:

Many of you on the basset boards have already seen this article, but I know many of my readers come to the Mayor for the latest and the greatest! This article was in the Tucson Citizen yesterday, 2-5-08. l76015_1.jpg

Champion Silverado Bling Bling hopes this is the year the breed wins its first Best in Show at the 132nd annual show.

Basset hounds usually get a smile. But do they get respect in the Westminster Kennel Club show ring?

OK, the Tucson hound probably doesn’t worry much about it, but, for sure, she likes the attention.

“She loves to show. She just sparkles. She’s always happy. Never met a stranger, never met anyone she didn’t like,” said Mimi Tysseling, who will head to New York City for the show Feb. 11 and 12.
Tysseling is a regular at the show, along with her husband, Jim.
They met at the Westminster Kennel Club show, where both were showing basset hounds about 20 years ago. Mimi lived in Tucson at the time; Jim lived back East. They moved to the Northwest Side about two years ago. Both are 50.
Bling Bling, 18 months old and 55 pounds, likes having her nails done – a plus for confirmation shows such as Westminster, in which a dog is judged on how well it conforms to American Kennel Club standards and its general appearance in the ring.
She will get a conditioning shampoo and have the hair on her tail trimmed, along with a little sprucing up between the pads of her feet.
Despite her name, her pedicure will be finished with clear varnish.
However, just before the show, her ears will be pulled up by a snood – a sort of bonnet – to keep them from getting dirty. The snood is made of purple sparkly material with two huge imitation diamond rings on top. That’s bling – hip-hop slang for glitz.
Bling Bling’s social side came out early. She started groping for company “even in the whelping box, before her eyes were even open.”
She’ll have fun. As for the competition? Bling ’em on. End of article.

You go girl. You have the prettiest white neck! Feel free to send us more pictures and updates about your success. A picture in your snood would be nice!

Howllo Fellow Hound and Blog lovers! I have blog block! Maybe it’s because I have been doing my taxes. Nothing kills the creative spirit more than looking at IRS forms.

More Later, after I plow through the umpteenth vet bill, (not deductible)! Boooooo

Have you purchased your Valentine’s day gifts yet?

February 1st, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Valentine’s day gift lovers:

As many of the readers of this blog know, Devon and I are raising money for the House of Puddles this year. We have a goal of 10,000 dollars. We have a Firstgiving page. If you donate to this page, your money goes directly into the 501(c)3 account for the House of Puddles.

We have updated our page with a sweet fun Valentine’s day theme as well as a new pink dream necklace. This new necklace was introduced by Devon specifically for the House of Puddles and your Valentine’s day shopping treasure.

PLEASE NOTE: WE NEED YOUR DONATION OF 20.00 OR MORE BY 2-4-08 TO BE SHIPPED BY VALENTINE’S DAY!

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY DONATED, THANK-YOU! Guess what? You can still do us a huge favor. Do you know anyone who is shopping for Valentine’s day and would like the new necklace or a package of greeting cards from bassethoundtown? If you do, will you pass our Firstgiving link to them so they can LQQK? (It is right below)

This is great way to shop because you can tell the person you are buying for that they not only received a great gift, but 100% of the money that you spent on the gift was donated to the House of Puddles! Howl sweet is this deal? Slurp!

Tell your Valentine how special they are as well as telling the HopPers how special they are!

Here is the link to our Firstgiving page:

If you have not seen the new YouTube video I made, it is now on our FG page.

The amount that Devon and I will raise is only one third of what Marilyn will need this year.

She has just taken in a new old HoPper who had to have 19 teeth pulled! His name is Billy.
