BLOAT (Gastric Torsion) – Links and research provided

April 30th, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hounds and keeping current about issue lovers: Devon has updated bassethoundtown.com about BLOAT. I agree with her that this has to be a forefront issue for the members of our town.

I have added a new page to my Navigation area based upon Devon’s suggestion and internet research. This area is just to the right of what you are reading right now. It is called,
BLOAT (Gastric Torsion) – Links and research provided.

This is so huge to our community as our beloved breed is pre-disposed to this malady. Please take time to read up on it. Devon and I will be adding other links for your education.

BLOAT IS AN EMERGENCY AND NEEDS TO BE TREATED AS SUCH. HOUNDS CAN DIE WITHIN AN HOUR FROM THIS. PLEASE READ!

Thank you Devon for making sure I added this to my website. All hound owners can benefit from this.

As promised – Gold Rush Totals in for Sharyn of PA!

April 29th, 2008 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Gold Lovers: We are finally ready to report information from the mines of PA. Sharyn sent a bassetabulous mining pan and we were so excited to get it. Contained within the pan were several items. A 10K gold ring with a few one point diamonds worth 56.50.

Sharyn_ring.jpg

How wonderful! A few of the stones were loose so it was not an item to go into the HOP boutique. We are thrilled with the amount raised from this pretty little ring!

Sharyn also sent several beautiful sterling chains. My jeweler and I both agreed I should keep them and use them to raise more money for the HOP. I have my thinking cap on.

sterling_sharyn_chains.jpg

They are all delightful, and only one was broken! I have some good ideas for these beauties. Rest assured they are all going towards the HOP!

For this blog posting I am saving the best for last! Hehehehe!

It is an item that I am listing in the HOP BOUTIQUE! This is not to be missed folks.

It is an 18K gold bracelet. Here is the link to the boutique listing.

Italian Milor – 18K double S link bracelet

It is just stunning and not to be missed. Sharyn, we cannot thank you enough for this bassetabulous item.

Friends, you must click and see it. I am so happy that someone will have an 18K gold HOP support bracelet. Just stunning.

KENTUCKY LEGISLATURE CRACKS DOWN ON ANIMAL TORTURE
April 28, 2008
**********************************************

Dear Cathy,

I wanted to share with you great news for animals in Kentucky.
S.B. 58, “Romeo’s Law,” passed by the Legislature mere moments
before it adjourned for the year on April 15. And with Governor
Steve Beshear’s signature, Romeo’s Law has now become a reality.

Lawmakers named S.B. 58 “Romeo’s Law,” in honor of an
8-month-old yellow Labrador retriever who was beaten in Pulaski
County. Neighbors taped the tragedy, resulting in the arrest of
Ronald Shawn Turner. He was later found guilty of animal cruelty
and a judge sentenced him to pay a fine and serve time in
prison. With the new law, it will be a felony to torture a dog
or cat resulting in serious physical injury or death.

Public support for the bill was overwhelming, according to
Pamela Rogers, Kentucky State Director for The HSUS. “The
legislative message lines were overflowing with calls from HSUS
members and other animal protection groups and citizens from all
over the state,” she said. “They wanted legislators to know that
Kentuckians really care about the humane treatment of animals.”

Thank you for all you do for animals.

Sincerely,

Mike Markarian
Executive Vice President
The Humane Society of the United States

P.S. You can help secure even more victories for animals by
telling your friends and family to join our online community.

better our chances for future successes.

Chaps wows the crowd as Parade Grand Marshall!

April 28th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Parade Lovers: This weekend Chaps was the Grand Marshall of the SAAP parade. He took his job very seriously and lead the way in hope of helping some of our local homeless pets. Here he is with his grandma waiting for the parade to start.

teeter_and_grand_marshall.jpg

I would say they had a great turn out and many rescue groups were present. Any time they can raise awareness is great. We donated some Lily Books and everyone seemed to really like them.

I was one of the judges for the costume contest and this hound dog won as officer and a wiener dog!

winner_costume_contest.jpg

A great time was had by all and my only regret is that I did not get Chaps over to the animal communicator. I am kicking myself for that one. I am going to find her and get a private session. She said he had a lot to tell me. Damn!

More Later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. I have to add this. At one point, Chaps had a line formed of people waiting to pet him. He drew a major crowd. I heard so many basset hound stories! It was totally pawsome!

OMG! I just came in from brushing Chaps

April 27th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and blowing the winter coat lovers! Chaps is blowing his winter coat and it is a mess. After all of my hard work I thought I would take a YouTube break and what do I watch? Someone else furminating their basset Frank!

Too Funny! How much do we love Frank?

Marilyn has Gus and Laverne with her in Ocean City. A very good looking couple indeed! Melynda is in attendance with her girls, Lilly and Becky.

Lucien will be sorely missed. He was a board walk favorite last year. Lucien left us for the bridge just a short time ago.

Have fun everyone and waddle for those Tri-State homeless hounds that need all of our support. These are tough economic times and more and more homeless hounds are showing up at shelters, dumped by the side of the road, and left in foreclosed homes. We can help and have fun! This is the 10th year for this waddle and it just get’s better and better if that is possible.

Great Job Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue. You make a huge difference!
