Chaps “Richter Scale” Rudert

April 18th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Earthquake haters:

This morning, about at 5:17am I woke up shaking. I thought it was Emma kicking me for covers. She will let me know when the covers are pulled off of her by kicking me with her hind legs until I wake up. However, it was not Emma kicking me. It was an EARTHQUAKE! Chaps was already up, out of bed and looking for a place to vomit. I was thrilled it was not in bed, but I felt so sorry for him. Thank goodness this is a rare event in our neck of the woods. After a few belly rubs and an early morning treat it was back to dream land for Chaps and I.

P.S. Emma slept right through it.

P.P.S. We all felt an after shock at about 11:15am today. Chaps is fine!

Let’s take a ride!

Howllo Fellow Hound and taking a ride lovers: I agree with the little girl, that basset hop at the end is well worth some applause!

Emma gets ready for her 4th birthday!

April 18th, 2008 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Emma lovers: Hi everyone! Our Emma is going to be 4 years old on Monday the 21st of April. Every year my Mom and I take a picture of her by the cherry tree in our front yard. We have been working with Miss Emma this week because the cherry tree is is full bloom.

outtakeemma.jpgHere is an out-take. Our first attempt was pretty meager.

donewithit.jpgEmma got scared and wanted to go in. Then as soon as we got in, she wanted to go back out! I think I got some good pics the second time. You will just have to check back on Monday for the official birthday shot of Early Morning Misty Air, Emma!

This piece is in excellent condition so I have choose to put it up for sale in the HOP BOUTIQUE on my website. Here is the link:

LINK TO NECKLACE FOR SALE.
100% OF THIS SALE WILL GO TO THE HOP

Please pass this link to anyone you think might be interested in such a wonderful piece. My jeweler told me I would only get about 30.00 if I scrapped it and she thought I could get about 75.00 if I sold it. The diamond is very nice and bright.

Dogs Deserve Better!

April 14th, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hounds and Dogs Deserve Better Lovers!

I link to this group on my Blogroll and Great Links. As you can see, if you click on the above link, we want dogs to be un-chained. Well, I just ran across this video on YouTube from the journey our girls are taking to unchain all states. The basset hounds in this video are not chained, but from a back yard breeder. The breeder does not even know how to spell BASSET.

I am a firm believer in unchaining dogs.

Here is the video that they shot on their tour.

What’s up with AKC Bassetts?

Can we help these hounds?

We had a great time at the Pet Expo!

April 14th, 2008 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound, Horse, Reptile, and everything pet lovers! We had a great time at the Expo. It was crazy! I knew it would be good when we saw a massive basset hound made of balloons at the entrance.

catballons.jpg

My dinky camera could not capture the beauty of this art piece. It was bassetabulous! The Expo was very rescue oriented, which I loved. I am not a fan of the reptiles, but as you can imagine my nephew is!

IMG_4231.JPG

His Mom (my sister) is very up on reptiles as well. She had a blast with him in this section. All of the reptiles were rescues and very well cared for. This booth was drawing a huge amount of people. My Mom was not one of them. So we headed over to something that was drawing my attention!

ridersonthestorm.jpg

This just floored me! I am a huge supporter of disaster teams that come to rescue animals in any way, shape or form. This organization is called CODE 3 ASSOCIATES

This rig was so huge it would boggle your mind. There is a surgery area, boats in the rafters and teams of animal lovers. At one time, during Katrina, 40 people were living on this rig. I heard one guy say, “We do animal rescue. We will even rescue a human if we have to!” It was all in good fun. Everyone was laughing.

ninteeter.jpg

The massive nature of this rig was awe inspiring! donoharm.jpg

ABOVE ALL DO NO HARM, was posted above command central. I just broke out in tears. I felt so honored to go through this beacon of hope.

On we went towards the cheering crowds…..

airdog.jpg

Wow, did you know Dogs could fly so high? I cut the head off the shot! LOL!

I guess you can tell that we had a great time. I hope you did as well.

P.S. I saw a few hound rescues selling the Lily book. I hope they did OK!

P.P.S. stay tuned for what my sister bought for Chaps to wear at his Grand Marshall event!

Look what we are doing tomorrow!

April 11th, 2008 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Pet Lovers: On Saturday we are going to a huge Pet Expo at the Cincinnati Convention Center. If you live in our area you should consider attending. Here is the link to all of the information: http://www.everythingpets.org/index.htm

100_0613_1.jpg

Chaps and Emma are not going. I have to check it out first to see…. SUP? I called several months ago to see how much a vendor’s booth cost, but it was out of my price range. It cost about $800.oo to exhibit. I think the Lily book is great, but not that great! OK, maybe I am selling myself short. I still do not have the doe for the booth!

We are all very excited about the event. I will take some pictures and report back.

I am in the market for a Grand Marshall cape. You know that Chaps is going to be the Grand Marshall at a large event on 4-26-08. I sure hope we find one. Slurp!

My sister is here and I am having blog withdraw!

April 11th, 2008 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Sister Lovers: It has been a whirl wind in bassethoundtown. Aunt Cindy is here from Atlanta and the hounds are going wild.

emmalong.jpg

My sister, Nin, does really deep massaging pets that will take a winter coat right off a hound. They just turn into heaping bowls of jello when she is around. Today we slept in and then ate all day. LOL! I made a vat of spaghetti sauce that was to die for. My other sister, Caryn, came over with Julian and her hubby Art. We were laughing so loud that it hurt. I looked around and thought, “how lucky and I?” My favorite thing in life is laughing hard.

Everyone was in awe of our Emma. She received so much praise and was the Queen of the evening. Chaps was belly up for hours. It was so cute. I love a belly up hound! I was too busy waiting on the hungry masses to get a pic. My Lord, it was a glorious site!
