Prosecute THE MAN WHO SHOT BABYBOY

PLEASE CLICK THE ABOVE LINK TO SIGN THE ONLINE PETITION

Target:The Honorable Spencer Bachus, Prosecutor Frank Funderburg, Chief Adam Pardue, Magistrate Pricilla Newton, The Town of ODENVILLE, AL
Sponsored by: R. Brace and the ASPCA Online Community
We the undersigned, ask for justice for the Davis family. Please charge, and prosecute, Christopher Delawder, for the unlawful shooting of Babyboy, a beloved member of the Davis family.

On the evening of Saturday June 28, 2008, the family of Terri Davis’, lives were changed. Their little bassett hound, Babyboy, slipped out of the safety of his backyard. Moments later a neighbor came to the Davis’ front door to report their precious little dog was hurt. Another neighbor, Christopher Delawder, had shot and killed Babyboy.

Surrounded by a crowd of people, Terri picked up his lifeless little body screaming to God, as tears ran down her face. At that point she didn’t know how babyboy had died.

They brought him home and it was then, as they looked him over, that they found the bullet hole.

Christopher Dewayne Delawder was part of the crowd that surrounded Terri. He was asking if, “Anyone had seen anything.” In other words, he was acting like he had no knowledge of the shooting. When the police arrived he lied to them.

It was after Mr. Delawder contacted his attorney, (2 hours later) he admitted to shooting the Davis family dog. His excuse? He stated he had every right to shoot the dog to protect his cats.

It is suspected that his cats, (if there really are any) are locked in an unventilated box in his backyard. In which case, not only is he guilty of a crime by shooting the dog, he is also guilty of animal abuse.

Alabama state law made it a class C felony in the year of 2001:
Title 13A. Criminal Code. Chapter 11. Offenses Against Order and Safety. Article 1. Offenses Against Public Order and Decency. § 13A-11-14. Cruelty to animals. Section 13A-11-240. Definitions. Section 13A-11-241. Cruelty in first and second degrees.

13A-11-14. Cruelty to Animals.
(a) A person commits the crime of cruelty to animals if, except as otherwise authorized by law, he intentionally or recklessly:

(1) Subjects any animal to cruel mistreatment; or

(2) Subjects any animal in his custody to cruel neglect; or

(3) Kills or injures without good cause any animal belonging to another.

(b) Cruelty to animals is a Class B misdemeanor.

(Acts 1977, No. 607, p. 812, § 5565.)

13A-11-240. Definitions.

(a) The word “torture” as used in this article shall mean the act of doing physical injury to a dog or cat by the infliction of inhumane treatment or gross physical abuse meant to cause said animal intensive or prolonged pain or serious physical injury, or thereby causing death due to said act.(b) The word “cruel” as used in this article shall mean: Every act, omission, or neglect, including abandonment, where unnecessary or unjustifiable pain or suffering, including abandonment, is caused or where unnecessary pain or suffering is allowed to continue.

(c) The words “dog or cat” as used in this article shall mean any domesticated member of the dog or cat family.

(Act 2000-615, p. 1252, § 1.)

This petition is to urge the magistrate and police of Odenville, AL to take action. Help us bring the town of Odenville, Alabama, to task, for failing to uphold the law.

Help us get this man prosecuted for his CRIME. Thank you all, for your support.

Chaps and Emma have mail!

July 31st, 2008 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and getting packages in the mail lovers: Chaps and Emma have some very special friends by the names of Maureen and Slinky! When I went to the PO, this was inside our box!!!

I opened it up before I got home to see what was inside. It was 2 delicious swirly pig ear looking treats! Well, since Emma is allergic to all protein she could not have the entire treat. So what I did was break off the smallest pieces, one for each hound. I think they are both addicts now!

Since the Mayor is not allergic he was in for a surprise! Today, Emma had to go to the eye doctor for a check up. She will be gone for a few hours. Chaps absolutely hates it when she is gone and sometimes is so sick with worry that he he throws up. I kid you not! So, for our Mayor, a special Maureen and Slinky treat! Yeah, that ought to do the trick.

After this picture was taken, he ran outside. Emma was already in the car with my Mom so she could not see him.

I don’t think he will be too worried about Emma today. I will call my Dad and check on him later.

Thank-you again Maureen and Slinky! We love you guys very much! You made the Mayor’s day!

More sneaky treats later! hehehehehe…..Cat, Chaps (yummy time) and Emma none the wiser!

Howllo Fellow Hound and LLP Lovers!

With the hoopla of Rudy all weekend I was a bit remiss with this blog posting. This was a moment in time that I hope to keep in my heart forever. Julian, my nephew, is Emma’s idol. When he comes to visit the joy she feels is overwhelming!

She soaks every second of him in!

Too bad that photos don’t capture sound effects! The laughing and the barking were priceless.

With friends like this, life is good.

They even come with eye shades!

BREAKING NEWS ABOUT RUDY!

July 29th, 2008 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Rudy Lovers! OMG!!! I was on my way out the door to collect our Rudy and take him to the vet for a check up and the Campbell County Animal Shelter called. Rudy’s owners are going to pick him up after all?!?!?

Here’s the story. Apparently, Rudy’s owners were on vacation and they just got back last night. They had left Rudy with the neighbor kid. The neighbor kid was not responsible and somehow Rudy got out of the yard. Rudy’s family did not leave a number with the neighbor kid. The neighbor kid’s parents are MORONS (just my opinion, the shelter did not tell say that) who are not smart enough to call the pound.

I am thrilled that Rudy’s family wants him. I am going to try and find out who they are and offer to take care of Rudy when they go out of town. Since they live in the same town I can pop over all day long and feed, water, walk, and play with our Rudy. I hope to bring my readers many more GOOD Rudy stories.

Heck, he’s kind of famous in bassethoundtown!

The Shelter folks told the family that if they would have called tomorrow that Rudy would have been in the rescue system, or would had been put down if we did not intervene.

Special thanks must go to Chris Dowd who lives in AZ. She was ready to fly our Rudy to AZ to be fostered by her family. She saw mega potential in our guy and she was certain that he would be adopted out quickly based on his good looks and manners.

I am honored and thrilled to have Chris as a friend and fellow basset hound rescuer. We were certain that our KY Rudolph was guiding our efforts. Thank you as well, Rudolph, helping KY hounds from the bridge.

More Rudy stories later….Now I can exhale. I woke up this morning exhausted from looking for a home for Rudy all night. I ran for miles all night long. Whew!

Love, Cat, Chaps, Emma and Our Rudy.

P.S. I am thrilled I got to spend that time with him yesterday. I think that perked him up so he could get though the night.

Young KY Rudy needs a forever home!

July 28th, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Rudy Lovers: Some of you will remember our boy who was picked up by the animal control officer for the second time in my home town of Ft. Thomas KY. He is currently at the county pound. (Campbell County)

Tomorrow is is official deadline for his “owner” to collect him. The pound must keep him for 5 business days before adopting him out or putting him down.

Do to the over crowding at the pound, owner releases can be put down the same day, which is tomorrow – 7/29/08.

So, I have been blessed with the benevolent graces of Chris Dowd. She said I could pick him up and take him to my Vet and she will pay for boarding. This is HUGELY expensive at 30.00 a day so he needs a REAL home real fast! Keep in mind, like all bassets he needs a fence or you will see this area heading off!

Our Rudy is a young basset. My Mom and I think he is only a pup of about a year and an half old. His teeth are pure white and he only weighs about 32 pounds. He is very active and pulls hard on a leash. He is full of life!

His paws are huge and his ears are long. Speaking of long………He is long! Are you into tracking with a hound? This guy would be great! Or do you run every morning? Here is your partner!

OK, so sit back and enjoy the show! Enjoy our Young Rudy! We will find him a place in life. A much better place than he came from. Can you help?

We would really appreciate it! Without further hesitation………

YOUNG RUDY!

He needs a real home!

Julian draws Rudolph for HOP

July 27th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound, Julian and Rudolph Lovers:

My nephew, Julian is starting his drawing right now! Here he is!

Please, have your child join the fun and draw a HoPper! It’s fun!

As most of my readers know, Susan Randolph and I are working on another fund raiser for the HOP. Here are the rules and instructions:

Calling All Junior Pupcassos!
Help us show the world that “Senior Droolers Are Cooler”

Have a child who loves drawing–especially drawing dogs? Want to help the senior hounds of HOP and have your budding artist’s masterpiece displayed in an online charity art exhibit?

Cat and I are seeking as many kids as possible under the age of 17 to create pup-portraits of the House of Puddles bassets and donate their creations to our charity exhibit & raffle (an idea inspired by the recent artwork created by our very own Limber Lou’s kids).

Kids are free to choose the HOPper they wish to draw as well as the medium they prefer to work in (crayon, marker, paint, colored pencilsit’s entirely up to them). Each original will be displayed in our online “Barkwork” gallery, and raffle tickets will be sold for chances to win these one-of-a-kind treasures (with all proceeds going directly to House of Puddles to support the senior bassets in Marilyn’s care). Only one entry per child please.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  1. Just visit the HOP Houndie Pages at http://houseofpuddles.org/HoundiePages.htm and have your kid(s) select the HOPper they’d like to draw. Remember, if you click on the name, there are more inspirational photos to spark the imagination. They are also welcome to choose one of the sweet hounds who have gone to the Bridge; their photos and stories are included on the Rainbow Pages: http://houseofpuddles.org/rainbow.htm.
  2. Please e-mail us at barkwork@verizon.net with the name of your child, their age and which HOP pup they have chosen to draw (so we can keep track and know how many wonderful artworks to expect).
  3. If possible, please have them use standard size (8.5 x 11) paper (card stock or construction paper is ideal) since we will be scanning these treasures for our online exhibit and they need to fit atop a standard scanner.
  4. When finished, please make sure the masterwork has dried completely (if necessary) before mailing, and package it carefully. It’s best to place a clean sheet of paper on either side and sandwich the artwork between cardboard so it is not damaged or creased in transit.
  5. Be sure to include a note with each artwork indicating the artist’s name, age and address and the name of the HOP dog they’ve immortalized (please avoid writing on the back of the artwork itself since the impression and lettering can sometimes bleed through to the front–and we don’t want anything spoiling these wonderful pup-portraits!). Only one entry per child please–so we can showcase as many kids’ art as pawsible.
  6. Send to: Barkwork, 228 North St NE, Leesburg VA 20176–to arrive no later than July 25.
  7. Important note: All submissions become the property of HOP and will be raffled to benefit the rescue. Some designs may be used by Marilyn for fun notecards or other promotional purposes, and by donating the artwork you are granting permission for these uses.
  8. Join us for an online gallery opening on Friday, August 1, and see each child’s unique creation on display! All kids will receive a special Artist’s Certificate thanking them for their contribution……………………………………………………. More Later, Cat, Julian, Chaps and Emma
