BREAKING NEWS ABOUT RUDY!

July 29th, 2008 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Rudy Lovers! OMG!!! I was on my way out the door to collect our Rudy and take him to the vet for a check up and the Campbell County Animal Shelter called. Rudy’s owners are going to pick him up after all?!?!?

Here’s the story. Apparently, Rudy’s owners were on vacation and they just got back last night. They had left Rudy with the neighbor kid. The neighbor kid was not responsible and somehow Rudy got out of the yard. Rudy’s family did not leave a number with the neighbor kid. The neighbor kid’s parents are MORONS (just my opinion, the shelter did not tell say that) who are not smart enough to call the pound.

I am thrilled that Rudy’s family wants him. I am going to try and find out who they are and offer to take care of Rudy when they go out of town. Since they live in the same town I can pop over all day long and feed, water, walk, and play with our Rudy. I hope to bring my readers many more GOOD Rudy stories.

Heck, he’s kind of famous in bassethoundtown!

The Shelter folks told the family that if they would have called tomorrow that Rudy would have been in the rescue system, or would had been put down if we did not intervene.

Special thanks must go to Chris Dowd who lives in AZ. She was ready to fly our Rudy to AZ to be fostered by her family. She saw mega potential in our guy and she was certain that he would be adopted out quickly based on his good looks and manners.

I am honored and thrilled to have Chris as a friend and fellow basset hound rescuer. We were certain that our KY Rudolph was guiding our efforts. Thank you as well, Rudolph, helping KY hounds from the bridge.

More Rudy stories later….Now I can exhale. I woke up this morning exhausted from looking for a home for Rudy all night. I ran for miles all night long. Whew!

Love, Cat, Chaps, Emma and Our Rudy.

P.S. I am thrilled I got to spend that time with him yesterday. I think that perked him up so he could get though the night.

Good news about Rudy–but I can’t help but wonder why his parents did not leave a number where they could be reached while on vacation!? When we boarded Harley & Biggs at the vet while we were in Europe a few years ago, even though we moved around, I missed them so much I called often to check how they were! Cat, I hope you keep close tabs on Rudy from now on!;))

Yes, I am going to keep an eye on him. He needs his Aunt Cat in his life. I know exactly what you mean.

Oh Geez, I cannot imagine the heartbreak if something DID happen. Rudy reminds me of the crazy beagles I had in the past. Some are just meant to run and go!….doin’ what hounds are supposed to do. But, you gotta take those extra precautions, esp. in a guy so young.

    Thanks for being Rudy’s Angel!

I’m glad Rudy is going home, but I hope his owners realize what a gem he is and treat him the way he deserves.

Since I’m here in Wisconsin – if Chris in AZ wants to fly me out for fostering – I’ll be glad to go – I can leave anything after the 1st of January – or sooner if the snow piles up early and the temps drop below zero! HA HA Just kidding (sort of) It is amazing what hound people will do for their babies and babies who aren’t their babies.

    Hound Folks Rock!

I’m Glad that his owners were not just leaving him.
I would give that stupid kid hell, they should not have counted on a kid to watch him. I’m sure his Aunt Cat will see that he gets some much needed attention and his owners learn a lot more about proper care of him. Cat, You Rock. Hugs Ken

This is the best news; but how can any parents leave without leaving a telephone number or call with a number when they arrive. Don’t they have a cell phone?

I am so happy some people like you and the lady in Arizona stepped up to the plate.

Chaps, Emma and Rudy have a lot to be thankful for.

I can only quote our Animal Control Officer, “Some people are idiots!” I think that says it all!

Chris from AZ is a huge help to KY hounds. I love her lots!
