Chaps got slapped by a toddler yesterday!!! OMG

August 18th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Poor Chaps Lovers: OMG, here we were minding our own business at the park yesterday.

We rest at this spot for a few minutes. We also get a drink of water. A family with 2 young children were a few feet away. I was keeping a close eye on the youngsters because I noticed the little boy toddler was a pistol. Sure nuff, he started toddling in our direction and I sat down with Chaps and Emma. Emma goes nuts around kids, so I had to kind of hold her down from jumping on the kids. Just as I was holding down Emma from the little girl, the titanic toddler wrapped around me and hauled off and slapped Chaps in the face!!!! WT#?

Here is the kicker. His Dad is kind of laughing (nervously) and says, “no, no Gabriel – that’s not how we treat doggies”!

FOR REAL ????????? The kid is named after an archangel ?????????????????????

Here is Chaps after the angel slapped him. He was so sad. He loves kids and I could just see the shock in his face.

You can see the play area right behind him. Man that kid was fast.

We are going to run in the opposite direction if we see that “little angel” coming!

Oh Big guy, we are so sorry that happened to you. I am bothered by parents who say the words outloud after something bad occurs, but aren’t ATTENTIVE enough to PREVENT the behavior. When in public places everyone should be allowed to enjoy themselves, even canines. Debbie and the Masterpiece Bassets

I know. I saw them coming from a mile away. The Mom was not even watching the kids. The Dad should have picked up the toddler and held him.

Who let’s their young kid run in the direction of an 80 pound dog and not even move? Wacky.

Can’t Chaps invoke his right at Mayor and make a citizen’s arrest? I know that public officials sometime have to suffer the slings and arrows of the public, but pleeze. . . . Way to take the high road, big guy.

Oh, Cat – your Michael Phelps photo from last week is my screen saver at work. Whenever the guys question the appropriateness, I look offended and point out what a true American hero he is. Who can complain about that. Thanks!

Poor Chaps!!!!!! Maybe Auntie Lisa needs to have a chat with that the little “angel”. I know my son would have never done something like and if he did he would have been the one crying all the way home! Thank God Chaps is such a good boy and no one got hurt. Give him a big kiss for me!!!!
    Love,
    Lisa

Poor Chaps, that must have been very traumatic for him. Looks like yet another case of lousy parenting skills…..

Please give Chaps a big hug and a kiss; we love Chaps!!! (and Emma too of course!)
