Susan Update! Wednesday night!

August 13th, 2008 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Susan Lovers: Our girl is doing good! She is still in ICU and had some tests done today which made her very tired. The results of the tests were good! She is very tired from all of this as we can expect! Susan has been in ICU for 8 days and this is normal for what she has been through. They need to monitor her.

Her Mom and Dad are doing great. Toby and Daisy are loving being with their grand parents.

Good Moms are the same everywhere!

August 13th, 2008 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Good Mom Lovers: Every summer my Mom would set up the sprinkler in the back yard so we could play and play. She would help us make up the best games.

Sometimes a sprinkler is just, well, magic to little kids.

From my Mom in KY to this Mom in Anchorage, AK – Have a great Summer

Susan update! The cards are pouring in!

August 12th, 2008 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Susan Update Lovers: I just got off the phone with Susan’s Mom and she said that Susan is having fun with all of her get well cards. Mrs. Randolph said that there were piles of them pouring in today! It took her 15 minutes just to open them for Susan. They both had fun reading all of the messages. She also related that Susan has the classic hospital complaint! The food is pretty bad. Some of her co-workers heard of her plight and sent her over a box full of her favorites!

She is progressing very well. She will most likely be in the ICU for a few more days and then she will be moved to the floor.

If you missed the address of where to send a card, here it is:

Inova Fairfax Hospital
c/o Susan Randolph – patient

Update on Eeyore of ABC!

August 11th, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Eeyore Lovers! Rember this post about our Eeyore?

Well, the wait is over! Eeyore is now the proud family member of Don and Shelly of ABC! Shelly states,

“As some of you may know, I can’t give up my fosters. When I picked up little Eeyore 2 weeks ago, I picked up this scared, dirty, outside dog. I was told she bit a neighbor and attacked their new breeding pup. I didn’t know what I was in for.

In the first few days, I could see that she was a sweet little peanut who just wants a roof over her head (and not a plastic one), some good food, and some love and attention.

She really took to me and was my little shadow. It wasn’t love at first sight with her by any means, but she grew to love me and vice versa. She learned to trust me and now I trust her too. Everytime I look in her big beautiful brown eyes, I see her saying “thank you”.

So, I couldn’t give her to just anyone. I convinced my parents to take her so I could see her on holidays and frequent visits. They agreed. She was to go there next week.

Don and I are going out of town next weekend for a wedding and were to make the adoption final then. I asked if once we got back, she could come for a visit. Then, Don said the magic words “why don’t we just keep her?” Hmmm…could that be because on our first night rv-ing, the thunder made her crawl next to Don in bed where they cuddled for the rest of the night? Or, could it be the fact that when Don is out of town, she carries around his dirty underwear? I don’t think he could part with her either.

So, there you go, Eeyore makes 4. Diesel and his mom, Eeyore, will now be together forever and Eeyore will never have to have another litter, sleep outside, or be penned up in the fields. She will have a life of rv-ing, basset brothers, and lots and lots of love. (She has the front seat!)

PS…I’m never fostering again. (I know I said that after Spike left…yes, you read correctly, one foster did leave my house)”

end of quote

LOL! I was waiting for this update! I knew Don and Shelly were going to keep her. I just felt it in my gut! I am thrilled beyond belief!

Eeyore went from living in dirt to hitting pay dirt! You go girl!

More loving basset hound folks later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Monday evening update on our Susan

August 11th, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Susan Update Lovers: The news is about the same as yesterday. I did not talk to Susan because she was sleeping. Keep that brain quite and sleep away dear girl. You need your rest. This is all good news. The healing process takes a long time and the more one rests, the better!

Susan’s Mom reports that the hounds, Toby and Daisy, are doing great! They LOVE their Grandma and Grandpa! I do too!

More updates later……..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
