Who smells family coming?

November 24th, 2008 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hounds and sniffing out family lovers *cough*

Well, we all have family coming or we are the family going….

I just want to know how you are holding up?

My sister is coming up from Atlanta with her two teenage boys! We all know how Emma feels about this!
I think she can smell them now!

Or maybe it’s the groceries that my Mom and I bought today? We are not doing Thanksgiving. We are in charge of breakfast and treats! Thanksgiving is an entirely long post all of it’s own.

I ask again……Who smells family coming?

Chaps in a T-shirt!

November 23rd, 2008 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo fellow hounds and t-shirt lovers!

Well, here is the deal. Devon sent this t-shirt to be donated to a rescue. Stay with me. As soon as I saw it, I thought that it might be something that could help Chaps through a thunder storm. I had heard that if you put a hound that is very frightened during a thunder storm in in a tight t-shirt it might help the anxiety of said hound.

So, I wanted to try this t-shirt on Chaps to see if it fit. If it did, I would e-mail Devon and see what rescue she would want me to donate the cost of this shirt to.

Well, I just sent an e-mail to Devon. I must have this shirt and just look at why!

The Mayor took an hour nap in this shirt so I think he is OK with it.

What do you think?

More hoping this works with thunder storms later……Cat, Chaps and Emma

Brandon comes to the Howliday rescue!

November 23rd, 2008 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and needing help with the holiday lovers: My friend’s son (and my friend), Brandon came over to help me this weekend. He basically gets attacked by Emma anytime he comes over. 10 minutes before he got here she started going crazy barking at the door. I really think she has taken a psychic turn since she has gone blind. It was like she knew he was coming. Some of you may think, oh she heard his Mom on the phone, but how did she know when he would be here? LOL

Wow, Brandon did some really heavy lifting for me. Thank you Brandon. As soon as you get your license I have a list as long as a basset hound’s body for you! Howllo after school and summer job! Righteous Dude!

They used to say that in my day. Is that corny?

More Later…Cat, Chaps and Emma, your biggest fan!

Kooter throws a cup cake party!

November 21st, 2008 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Cup Cake Lovers! As my readers know I was going to see Koots today. I had a huge list of errands to run and I decided to buy a dozen cup cakes for the gals at the pound in honor of Kooter.

I had to show you guys this icing decoration. How cute????????

Look how Yummy! It was my way of thanking everyone for taking care of our Kooter! Well, things have taken a turn and it seems that a very wonderful lady, who is local, wants to potentially adopt our Kooter. Her dog had just passed from old age. She has always come to this shelter to adopt dogs and cats.

She has been a long time supporter of this shelter and came in last night looking for the next love in her live. Get this…….She came in looking for a Great Dane or other large dog!

Well, who does she lock eyes with? Our Kooter! That basset hound look can get to a person!

The gals told her that Koots had a rescue hold, but that I would be coming down today. OK. I am not a real rescue, just a rescue lover. This sounds good for Koots.

Just to let you know, I had the most fantastic home in the world lined up for him. Remember Rudolph? He came from the same pound! Kooter was going to go to Gail’s place in VA. OMG – Heaven.

I cannot thank Gail enough for stepping up and helping this guy.

This is him after I walked him today. He is so ready to get the hell out of this place.

After I dropped off the cup cakes I walked outside. What do I see?

Look close, right in the middle – Is that a penny face up?

Yes it is and I made a wish for Kooter. It is bad luck to tell you what it is.

Will you make one for him as well? Then go eat a cup cake in his honor!

Slurp!

More Kooter stories later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

#1 on to do list…Buy Furminator!

November 21st, 2008 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and hating shedding lovers: Huh? Anyway, Chaps is doing a winter shed. I think that it’s pretty weird, but I heard it is not that unusual. His hair is coming out in gobs. Yesterday, my Mom helped me de-hair my home and she went straight to the source. The Mayor!

I was just doing my thing and looked out side and started cracking up. Grandma put a shower cap on to protect her hair from his! LOL

“Grandma, what is that funny thing on your head?”

The Mayor loves to be brushed as you can tell!

Ahhhhhhhhh………contentment! Look how cute hims is! I could just eat hims with a spoon!

Then he saw Mommy.

That’s OK, it was too cold for Grandma to be outside for very long looking so fetching in her plastic chapeaux! LOL

More gobs of hair later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Kooter update

November 20th, 2008 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hounds and Koots lovers!

I just heard from my gal and she said that Kooter was getting depressed and seemed very tired. He walked out with her and her female dogs with no problem. Instead of walking him to the van, she had someone else load her her dogs and she took Kooter to the field and then she ran with him. He ran with her and he perked up. She then did the hands on test. She pulled his tail, (gently) pulled his ears, (gently) and squeezed each of his paws. The only problem she had was when she pulled his left ear and he did a slight yelp. She said that both ears were dirty and smelled, but not bad. She rubbed his ears and he just did the moaning thing.

So, based upon this, I am going to take my ear cleaning stuff tomorrow and try to clean his ears to see if he tolerates it. If it is bad, I will take him to my vet and let them do it. If he need meds I will get them for him. I am also picking up his medical records tomorrow from his vet. So, I will have his complete history.

If I need to take him to a vet for his ears I do not want to take him to his regular vet. I want my trusted vet to look at him. Kooter might be too scared to go to his vet and I am not going to put him through that since he has been at the pound for a few days. My vet is in a home like setting and the people are very sweet. I love it because it used to be a child care facility and dogs feel like they are walking into a home.

So…….Koots had a good checking out today! I would say he got a great grade!

I will update everyone tomorrow. GO KOOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROOT FOR KOOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More updates Later………Cat, Chaps, Emma and Kooter!

If there is anybody out there please call me at 724-462-9030

Wow, that was weird!

November 20th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and not diggin’ the dizzies lovers: I am thinking there is nothing worse than being dizzy. I am sure there are a lot worse things, but if you are dizzy you can’t do jack.

Anyway, enough about me. Let’s talk about you. What do you think about me? Yep, I am feeling a bit less dizzy! LOL

The hounds were a huge help not to mention my Mom who waited on all three of us hand and paw.

Take care of yourself everyone and thanks for checking on us.

More getting better later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma

I think I made myself sick:(

November 19th, 2008 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound Lovers: I think I made myself sick with worry over Kooter. I woke up this morning dizzy and nauseous. I am not going to update my site today because of it. Thank God I have 2 therapy dogs at my disposal. I know he will be fine, it’s just me. I am such a worry wart. I really don’t know how rescue folks do this day in and day out. Maybe I am just a wimp. LOL
