Drunk abducts basset hound outside of Vancouver, WA restaurant!
Howllo Fellow Hound and, how about that title lovers?!?!
OMG! It as been a day of news as far as basset hounds are concerned. This poor hound was abducted by a drunk outside of a restaurant. The story has a happy ending, but to me, leaving your hound tied up outside of a restaurant, is like leaving a baby stroller tied up in the same place.
Anyway, all’s well that ends well. Here is the link to the story. Don’t forget to watch the video. It has cute Cowboy footage.

The owner was surprised that someone would steal a family pet, but it did not surprise me in the least.

People like that don’t deserve to own dogs! Before my dogs died, I knew where they were and what they were doing 24/7. I really do miss them. They were my best friends. Now I have to have PEOPLE as my best friends- ha, ha !!
OH my, I would be furious if anyone took anyone of my hounds BUT I am not that irresponsible to leave them tied out like that…crazy.

OMG!! They are so lucky that they got Cowboy back. Dawg only knows what that creep might have done with the poor hound if they had not found him right away. I can’t believe it never crossed their mind that somebody would steal a dog. Maybe I’m paranoid, but I won’t even leave Scully in our own yard unattended.
I would not leave my dog, but, in the neighbrhood I lived in for 30+ years, we had alot of little urban coffee shops, resturants and bakeries. Alot of people, especially on Sunday mornings would take their dogs for a walk and tie them outside while they had coffee or breakfast. Alot of shops would even have bowls you could use for water for your pet. The neighbohood newspaper even had a column on raising your “urban pet” and prided our neighborhood on being so pet friendly. I think this is probably a regional thing.
I’m glad Cowboy found his way home. He sure is a cute boy.
Candy – I know exactly what you mean. I love areas like that. Maybe Cowboys parents thought that this was a place like that. It seems weird that they would leave him outside in December in WA state. I bet it was really cold. What a story!
I still cannot get that vision of Cowboy in a Taxi with a drunk.
What a story!
Mary – I am so funny with Chaps and Emma. It almost boarders on a phobia! I have a fenced in back yard wtih a locked gate but when I leave I triple fence the kids in. I am going to try and add a picture so you can see it. It is quite the set up!
They are allowed out on a small back deck which has a gate. At the bottom of the steps is another locked gate. Then the patio area is fenced with a locked gate.
OMG – what is wrong with me? LOL
I do have my reasons. I have the circus sisters to my right who poke sticks through the fence and to my left are angry folks who glare at the kids. Who could glare at the kids?
Anyway, I take no chances. Enjoy your Sunday everyone!
Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma reporting from the triple gated community! Slurp
I am glad this story had a happy ending, but the owner learned a good leason. It is irresponsible/cruel to leave your dog tied up outside, anything could happen. I also do NOT like to see people leave their pet in a car for long periods of time. I have never left Slinky longer than to pay for some gas I pumped when I had her with me.
I’m so glad Cowboy was found and ok. I would have been sick if that happened to me. You should never leave you pet alone like that for any long period. You would not leave a child alone like that. Hard way to learn a lesson.
