I am at my sister’s home tonight!

December 4th, 2008 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and overnight lovers: I am watching my nephew Julian, Enzo the pug, and Casper the Cat tonight at my sister’s home. It is hard on me because I know that Chaps and Emma are alone tonight. They had Grandma and Grandpa (doing better by the way) with them all afternoon and this evening, but you know how I feel. I am sure it is harder on me than on them. This is the first time that I have left Emma alone over night. I know she will be fine. Me, not so much!

More Later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. I cannot figure out how to do pictures. Once you go Mac, you can never go back! LOL

P.P.S. since I am home I am adding the picture I wanted to add! LOL

Observations today from The View – OT

December 4th, 2008 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and The View Watchers: Today I had The View on while I was eating lunch. This is very off our beloved basset hound topic, but this has been bugging me all day.

Here is how it went:

Tight shot of Whoppie. Whoppie proceeds to tell the audience how she has the perfect gift for most everyone on your holiday shopping list. She goes on and on gushing over how great this gift is and it is not to be missed. You must rush to the store. My God, she hyped this gift up so much I actually turned up the sound and stopped what I was doing. Guess what the gift was?

The book that Barbara Walters had written this year. What the Heck? Are you kidding me? How is that a holiday gift for the masses?

Cue camera 2 on Barbara with a tight shot. Barbara is blushing and looking down like a coy young school girl being told her anklets are pretty. It was so weird.

OK – Is there a catch? How could this possibly be the best holiday gift ever? I am not a big fan of The View but I have not seen them stoop to these low levels before. Again, I don’t watch that often.

Hey it is not over yet!

The camera is still cued on Barbara and she starts telling Whoopie, that she has a holiday gift buying suggestion and it is a must have for all children and any one who loves children must buy this gift, and the gushing goes on and on. I am almost ready to throw my TV out the window when she announces the next best think to sliced bread!

Whoppie’s kid book that she wrote this year.

Cue camera back to Whoppie who looks like the cat who just swallowed the canary.

Is this QVC or The View? How shameless. The camera stays cued on Whoppie for an eternity while Barbara is still gushing, Elizabeth is fawning and Sherri is yawning.

Don’t think for a moment it’s over yet. Who knew Joy wrote a Kid’s book about her dog? Not me.

Whoopie dives into another QVC presentation about how any dog lover is not complete without this precious piece of literature and how your holiday will not be complete without it, all the while Joy is screeching in the background that the sequel is coming out soon. Look for it next Holiday season then you can buy both of her books!!!

Then, half of the remaining show was about the Barbara Walters’ special being aired tonight and how she is the Queen of everything media.

What a sickening, shameless, narcissistic, display of consumer greed. Are the “Big Auto 3 CEOs” not enough? Now we have the big 3 Ladies of The View grabbing and taking.

You would think that these ladies have reached such career heights that they might bend down and help someone else up. Wow, they really showed their true colors today on The View which was just a huge commercial for their products.

I am still shaking my head. I will enjoy lunch in silence with no TV in the future. Who needs an hour long commercial of in your face greed?

Can you imagine sitting around at Christmas reading Barbara Walters’ memories?

Shameless I tell you, Shameless………..

More basset hound blogs later. I apologize to my readers for going off topic, but I just could not get this out of my mind. Thanks for listening.

Does Chaps have extraordinary ear length?

December 2nd, 2008 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo fellow Hound and extraordinary ear length lovers! Does Chaps have an unusually long ear span? I was just wondering? I know I am his Mom and I think he is the best at everything, but what do you think? Do your hounds have longer ears?

My Mom displays our boy’s ears! What do you think?

I want to hold a contest. Do you want participate?

Love, Cat, Chaps (Mr. Long ears) and Emma

Chaps, Emma and I love to watch the night sky!

December 2nd, 2008 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and night sky lovers! As many of us hound owners know, we see a lot of nature with our hounds. I love watching the night sky and as a matter of fact, I thank the first star at night in the Lily book for making dreams come true for me.

Last night was a huge delight for me. I had been hoping all day for a clear sky and my dream came true.

Stargazer Alert! Venus and Jupiter in Conjunction This December

This is what we saw last night!

This is what we saw this morning at dawn!

Here is a small video clip of the dawn sky. It was so magnificent and jaw droopingly wonderful.

Ain’t Life Grand?

Then back to bed! LOL

More Grand Skys Later… Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Grandpa is not doing well…..

December 1st, 2008 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and wondering about us lovers????

Well, things are not going too good in bassethoundtown. Grandpa is suffering and very sick. I have been very busy with Grandma doing this and doing that. Grandpa took a fall a few days ago.

The kids know something is up.

Chaps is so funny and sweet. He knows I love when he tries to sit up and he does this when I am rushing around. This photo is hard to see but I tried to capture it!

Then my Mom came into my office and he tried to do it again. It is really rare!

I am thinking that he knows that his grandpa is ailing and my Mom and I are rushing around. He is so sweet to try and comfort us. He is the best boy in the world. His middle name is the same as his Grandpas – Wayne!

Poor Grandpa……….

I will keep you guys posted. Take care of yourselves. We love you!

Our Thanksgiving!

November 30th, 2008 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo fellow hound and Thanksgiving lovers:

I just thought I would tell you guys about my Thanksgiving. As most of my readers know, my sister came up from Atlanta. Well, it was kind of last minute but she had a big treat for us! She hired a limo to take us to the nicest place in town for our big feast!

It was so much fun.

This is the Omni Neatherland Hilton Hotel, downtown Cincinnati.

It is a spectacular Art Deco jaw dropper. Man O Man, those were the days when they did it right. I have traveled all over the world and I have never seen a more beautiful hotel.

We ate way too much as I am sure all of you did. The kids were so upset that we left, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

Before long we were back home.

Doing what we do best!

Loving on hounds!

More loving on hounds later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Waiting for teenagers to wake up!

November 29th, 2008 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and waiting for teenagers to wake up lovers! Come on, it’s almost day break, when does the fun continue! LOL

I have a pull out bed in my office for just these sort of occasions. Julian was sleeping upstairs in the guest room (aka couch) at Grandma and Grandpas. I told him he could come down when he woke up and get me up. I forgot to say wait until day break! It reminded me of Christmas when I was a kid. So, at 6:00ish (maybe a bit earlier) I hear Julian and Emma coming down the hallway. Each more excited than the other. Both asking, “What time do teenagers get up?” I thought to myself, it’s going to earlier than they want to……hehehe

I heard one of them talking on the phone until 1:00ish! Boy will he pay for that very soon! Julian and Emma agreed to wait a bit longer, Chaps was sacked out with one of the boys.

JULIAN AND EMMA WAIT UN-PATIENTLY FOR DAY BREAK AND TEENAGERS TO WAKE UP!!!!

Then, without provocation and without explanation a cat walked by the window and Chaps made sure everyone was up, including the neighbors! YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LET THE FUN CONTINUE!!!!!!!!!!

Life is good when you have a queen sized mattress in your living room.

Reese Cup cereal anyone?

More hangin’ with the cousins later………Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. Chaps is at the other window making sure that cat knows who is boss!

Dogopoly rules the holiday!

November 28th, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hounds and have you every played Dogopoly Lovers?

This is a picture of Henry getting ready to play. He was bound and determined to win
“Basset Hound” on the board!

Well at my home we were lucky enough to have a theme for the holiday and it was Dogopoly!

I have highlighted the word which will link you to Amazon but google it yourself to find better deals. OMG! Dogopoly is the bomb! Julian arrived later Wednesday night and a Dogopoly tournament lasted until today, (Friday)

It was a cut throat came with everyone vying for the basset hound card!

The competition was tough, but Henry won on Thursday morning. All the boys were so cute because they know how much that means to me! I told them that I might place this card in a shadow box with lights and hang it as art work on the wall for the next time they come up!

That would be so cute! I love that idea! I also love Dogopoly! Slurp!

More games later…….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Hello Blog – please don’t be mad at me!

November 28th, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and missing my blog lovers! It may be a bit presumptuous of me to think anyone missed us, but we missed you! The whirlwind started on Wednesday afternoon when my sister from Atlanta arrived with her two teenage boys.

I picked them up from the airport and the rest is just a total blur!!!! You can see what I mean from the next picture…………..

Just look at Emma’s ears and tail. She went totally bonkers when Henry (on the left) and Ronald arrived at my home.

On the way in from the airport, Henry asked me if I thought that Emma and Chaps would remember them. I told him I did not know. It had been so long since they have been up to visit. It was about 2 years ago that they all came up as a family. (My sis comes up more frequently.)
Teenage boys have a full schedule you know, much to Emma and Chaps’s chagrin!

Well, Emma answered the question immediately. I have to tell you dear readers that she went absolutely, over the moon, crazy. She was screaming so loud, with her mouth wide open, that I thought that she would get lock jaw!

Then she calmed down from pure exhaustion.

Chaps went crazy, but no where near the exhibition that Emma portrayed. OMG! The humans were a bit teary eyed.

More fun later……….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Magic Carpet Ride!

November 26th, 2008 - 7:07 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Magic Carpet Ride Lovers! OMG I just love this song. Anyway, I was cleaning for the family visit yesterday, rushing and mumbling about how I need another day…..blah, blah, blah. So, I took the little carpet out of my bed room to vacuum it in the living room.

I laid it in the middle of the floor and went to get the sweeper and then I returned…..

Well, you don’t know what we can find
Why don’t you come with me little girl
On a magic carpet ride
You don’t know what we can see
Why don’t you tell your dreams to me
Fantasy will set you free
!

Close your eyes girl, look in side girl, let the sound take you away!

Another one of life’s little pleasures. It never fails, when you start mumbling and grumbling about never having enough time, a hound will slow you down even more and the pleasure will be well worth it. Emma is a dream come true!

I like to dream yes, yes, right between my sound machine
On a cloud of sound I drift in the night
Any place it goes is right
Goes far, flies near, to the stars away from here

Hey, do you want to see the original Steppenwolf video? It is totally pawsome. Take a break and do some dancing before the big feast!

More magic carpet rides with hounds later…….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
