Poor Charlie………..
Howllo Fellow Hound and good sense lovers: There is this basset hound on the Internet named Charlie. He lives with an family in OK on a zillion acre cattle ranch. The poor thing is basically considered one of the live stock. Here is what is on the blog today.
“Charlie’s primarily an outdoor dog. He’s a hound dog, after all, and needs to go about his daily ritual of sniffing every inch of ground near our house. I suppose he could do that inside, too, but after awhile he’d probably run out of smells.
Since the weather has turned cold, I’ve been letting Charlie in the house more and more mostly at night.”
OH HOW FANTASTICALLY KIND OF YOU???
“Even though he has lots of floppy fur and skin to keep him warm, and even though he and the other dogs have a cozy “apartment” in a closet on our porch, somehow Charlie always winds up sleeping in the house at night.
He has control over me.”
This woman makes me ill. Can you imagine all of her dogs huddled in a closet on her porch. I cannot bare to go to her blog so I have a google alert set up for Charlie posts. I worry for him because about once every 6 months one of her dogs turns up missing or run over by farm truck. I don’t know why I torture myself with this saga. It was 13 degrees in OK last night. It appears the PW “let” him in last night.
This morning when I got up the kids were still sleeping. I did a few things and came back in the living room and Chaps was in my spot on the bed.
I thought it was so cute I got my camera. I thought that it might be a fun blog about how he moved into my spot and looked so content.
Then I heard about Charlie. Wow what a difference a heart makes.
Poor Charlie……………..

P.S. I cannot put a link to her blog anywhere in this post. It just make me nauseated to think I would send traffic her way.

It will not matter two hoots if you e-mail her. She will delete your comments and I bet she would not answer your e-mails.
Her blog is basically just a big commercial where she makes money advertising products. They give her samples and she gives them away and she draws tens of thousands of comments during her give aways.
She has never once mentioned anything unless she gets paid for it. That includes her “charity work”. The one she promotes pays for the exposure by flying her husband down to take pictures of poor people. It is really sick.
She has a huge homeschooling following and all of the women think that basset hounds are outside dogs left to fend for themselves.
Her name is Ree – but I call her:
gREEd.
gREEd has done nothing to help the cause of basset hounds in this country. She is a cancer for people in basset hound rescue.
She is very scary.
I had to force myself a while back to read her dribble so I could get the full scoop. It was torture.
They are multi millionaires and she loves to show off her life style. Her readers eat it with a spoon, while clicking her ads to make her even more money.
Can you tell I don’t respect gREEd? She could do so much with her platform, and she does – for herself.
What a drip.

Don’t you like the fact that if you try to find her charity work you either click on the sponsored ad on the right or it’s normal location is under miscellaneous? Really miscellaneous? I guess the Dominican Republic is just a miscellaneous item in her fruitful life. I would think it would be a headline…or at least have its own sub-heading. Nope, not that important! Surprised she even names her dogs….
I know, it is so maddening. She also talks about how her and her husband Ladd are so kind and wonderful for taking care of the wild horses on their land. They apply and receive millions of dollars in government grants to feed those horses and that is mostly during the winter.
We are taking care of the horses. She somehow always leaves that out of her posts.
I just went over and scanned the over 200 comments and I could not see a single comment that cared about Charlie’s welfare. I tell you, she will not let a negative comment on her site.
Someone even said that she has a barking basset next door and could she buy him a one way ticket to the ranch. How sick is that?
Hi Cat – I don’t comment too much, but I do read PW. I used to read her every day but I kind of figured out what she was doing as well.
Someone put it on the drool not to long ago that she has a blog and she has a basset hound. The poster said something like if you only read one blog make sure it is Pioneer Woman.
I think she just does not get it. One of her blog postings was about how her daughter who is 8 years old asked PW at 3:00am to move Charlie outside because he was snoring to hard and she had to get up in 2 hours to go to work.
PW told her to get a hot dog out of the fridge and do it herself.
I think that is when I quit reading.

Leo and Buzz – I totally get your point about how she does not get it. Her 8 year old daughter is a ranch hand. That is really interesting. I missed that one.

this). I am the greyhound lady and I post on CL’s site. I am absolutely beside myself with this latest post. I am livid. A basset hound outside???? any dog outside. On her food section she says that it’s 13 degrees
outside?? In my neck of the woods in the Philly
burbs. All I would have to do is make one call
to the humane society. They would take care of
it. I am seriously thinking of calling Oklahoma humane society. Do you think it will
do any good? With all their money and clout.
I am banned from writing on her site. I can’t post. There is only one dissenting post from
a woman called, “Border Collie Mom” I don’t know what to do……. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Maybe some
of your loyal readers will rip her a new one.

PW does not care. If Charlie turns up missing, oh well. What I find really odd is that her kids don’t care that the dogs are outside. Did none of her kids form a bond with any of the dogs that kids usually do? Is the entire family missing a compassion gene?
Maybe they are so exhausted from all of the farm work they are zombies.
PW has a sycophant that reviews all of her comments and deletes and then block those e-mail addresses who disagree with the PW.
The OKHS would probably not help out. The Drummonds are too powerful and the OKHS would probably get laughed off the ranch.
MJ – I am so sorry to hear of your soul mate Troy. At least there are folks in the world who care about the souls of animals.
What do you think is going to happen to that suckling that she drew readers in with? Medium or Medium Well? I have a feeling she will not be blogging about that.

About PW – She is such a thorn in my side. I may be over the top in my care of basset hounds but she is a bottom feeder.
What I have learned about “Alpha Mommy Bloggers” is they use their children and family, including dogs to drag in viewers.
Oprah even had on one whose take on Mother hood was hating it. That was a few years ago and guess what? She is pregnant again. That is some kind of hate.
I just hate fake people and I guess that is why I got a kick out of Phony Pony.
Charlie and his dog friends fend for themselves while PW blogs and ignores them. She knows Charlie draws hits so she lets him in for her good not his.
