Delicate bassets, do you have one?

January 21st, 2009 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and delicate basset lovers:

Our Mayor, Chaps Rudert is a very delicate basset hound. He worries a lot and then he gets sick and throws up. I just knew with Grandpa going to the hospital yesterday it would upset the Mayor’s apple cart.

Sure nuf. I thought he made it without throwing up yesterday but I found “it” this morning. He only does this when he is very worried or I should say when I am very worried. I am going to give him a Tums today before I leave for the hospital.

UPDATE – GRANDPA

January 20th, 2009 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and update lovers!

I just talked to grandpa and the only thing he wanted to know about was how Chaps and Emma were doing.

He knows that Chaps is a worry wart and Emma is a chow hound. He worries about his grand dogs.

He especially worries about Chaps who is a bigger worry wart than his he is. I assured Grandpa that the kids were fine.

They can not wait to get him home tomorrow!

I just saw Hotel for Dogs with my nephew and his Mom!

January 19th, 2009 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Hotel for Dogs Lovers: Have you seen it yet? If so howl in via comments and tell us what you thought.

Julian, his Mom and I all gave it 4 paws up out of 4.

I also suggest you have at least 3 tissues handy. I might be a bad judge of that one however, because I am a big cry baby.

I am sure you all know by now that Pedigree is donating a portion of every sale to it newly formed 501(c)3 not for profit organization for shelter dogs.

Kudos to you Pedigree.

P.S. FYI -not one basset hound siting! Bummer!

January 18th, 2009 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Sunday Shopping Lovers:

Last night I added an item to House of Puddles Boutique on my website. It’s a donation from Helen, Monty and Fleur. Vintage rhinestone earrings and a matching pendent. Here you can see Emma modeling one of the screw back earrings. She looks so pretty lounging in her bed with her finery on!

img_9159

Mommy, bring me a Bon Bon or 10!

img_9157

Can boy dogs wear pretty things? Oh who cares, I just want the bon bons!

img_9160

Oh Emma you wear it so well. Someone contact Houndie Winston!

img_9161

The glare of the spot light can be so tiring. Sleep really is this girl’s best friend. Snore……….

Here is the link to the item in the boutique. CLICK HERE

I am going to be adding a lot of stuff over the next several weeks.

The HOP boutique links directly to the HOP Paypal. Any time you buy anything in HOP boutique it works that way.

Enjoy your Sunday and Shop til’ ya flat basset!

Help Chaps win $1000 for house of puddles. It’s easy, all you do is vote for him!

January 17th, 2009 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and voting for Chaps lovers. I just want to mention that I am working on getting a link installed at the top of my blog so you can vote for Chaps with ease when you visit my blog. It should be up something this weekend, but for now I want to remind everyone to vote for the big guy. Here is the link,

VOTE FOR CHAPS, YOUR MAYOR CLICK HERE!

The Mayor has picked this video selection for your viewing pleasure. He wants to show off his playful side. It was the second video I ever made so I was not good at editing endings. When the credits roll it’s over.

The song goes on for a few more seconds. I always watch the entire thing because I love that song.

Enjoy your Saturday.

Emma, back to her old tricks!

January 16th, 2009 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Old Trick Lovers!

Most of my dear readers know all about this. If Grandpa babysits he usually forgets to put up the barriers on the couch, where he sits, when he leaves. OK, I could do it, but it is easier to blame this on Grandpa! hehehehe

Sure nuf, when Grandpa left and went upstairs Emma made her move!

img_9108

That white pillow was leaned up on the back of the couch. How she does all of this is just fascinating to me. You can see the end table on the couch that I use in an effort to maintain one place in my home that does not have dog hair on it. Why? I have no idea!

img_9122

As you can see, instead of getting her off of the couch I just threw in the towel, aka pink blanket, and forgot about it! She just looked so comfy. I sure hope our cardinals are this comfy.

As a side note I wanted to mention a photo taking technique. I just love taking pictures at this time of the day which is the beginning of dusk. As you can see the light that shines through the windows is blue. Any one can capture this light.

If you ever look at the magazine, Architectural Digest, you will notice this lighting in almost every home photo. (Did that mag go under? I don’t see it anymore.)

It really makes for an ethereal color, don’t you think? Try it in one of your photo shoots.

More ethereal photos later………Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

The cardinal family was here just now!

January 16th, 2009 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Cardinal Family Lovers:

Well, I just got home a few hours ago. I was gone all day with a group of girls I “play” bridge with. We just really never got the hang of it, but we do our best to eat and drink our way through it! LOL

When I got home Grandpa and Grandma were sitting with the kids. Of course Grandpa does most of the sitting and giving treats and Grandma does most of everything else. They are just the best.

Anyway, when I got back to my office to check on my e-mails I heard a bunch of chirping! OMG!

It was the baby girl cardinal……….

img_9103

This picture was taken from my desk chair on zoom through a door and a screen door. However, I think she is saying thank you! We locked eyes!

She was pecking and pecking like there was no tomorrow and chirping and chirping trying to alert the family that she found the secret stash. Then her brother showed up!

img_9106

As you can tell it is getting dusk. I did not get a picture of big Daddy or Mommy but they made it for dinner. It was too dark and I did not want to disturb them. Big Daddy was calling Mommy in for her meal and she flew in. All 4 of them ate for about 3 minutes and then all 4 of them flew off!

Everyone is accounted for. It is going to be -15 tonight and I worry for their safety, but I bet that family has a plan. Hopefully, they have some of Chaps and Emma’s undercoat in their nest. Goodness gracious we have gigantic loads of it floating around. It would be so soft and warm.

Sorry for the poor quality pics, but you can at least see the babies!

More family album pictures later………..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Add this to your favorite and vote every day!

Special thanks goes out to my co-worker, Jackie for bringing this contest to my attention. I am so excited!!!!!

Howllo Fellow Hound and Photo Contest Lovers:

Many of my dear readers may remember that Chaps entered the Sr. Hounds Abound Calendar contest for 2009. My Mom and I did a big photo shoot and everyone helped us pick this picture of him.

chaps-rudert

Well, now I am using this same picture in a contest that Cincinnati Bell Yellow Pages is running. If Chaps get’s the most votes he will be on the cover of the Yellow Pages and he will be awarded 1,000 dollars which he will promptly send to House of Puddles after he pays taxes. Actually, we will check into that and maybe he would not have to pay taxes since he would want the check made out to HOP which is a 501(c)3 not for profit rescue.

Hahahaha – listen to me, I am already acting like he won. Well, a Mom can’t be too sure or too proud! I just signed him up and I am waiting for my confirmation e-mail. I will post the details very soon. I know that you can vote for him everyday. I already saw 3 or 4 bassets in the contest.

Now I am getting nervous. Can you imagine? 1,000 dollars toward our goal of 10,000 dollars. That would put at 7,000 dollars.

OK – get your voting finger ready and I will be back in touch.

Go Chaps Go! Hop on!

More later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Poor Charlie………..

January 15th, 2009 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and good sense lovers: There is this basset hound on the Internet named Charlie. He lives with an family in OK on a zillion acre cattle ranch. The poor thing is basically considered one of the live stock. Here is what is on the blog today.

“Charlie’s primarily an outdoor dog. He’s a hound dog, after all, and needs to go about his daily ritual of sniffing every inch of ground near our house. I suppose he could do that inside, too, but after awhile he’d probably run out of smells.

Since the weather has turned cold, I’ve been letting Charlie in the house more and more mostly at night.”

OH HOW FANTASTICALLY KIND OF YOU???

“Even though he has lots of floppy fur and skin to keep him warm, and even though he and the other dogs have a cozy “apartment” in a closet on our porch, somehow Charlie always winds up sleeping in the house at night.

He has control over me.”

This woman makes me ill. Can you imagine all of her dogs huddled in a closet on her porch. I cannot bare to go to her blog so I have a google alert set up for Charlie posts. I worry for him because about once every 6 months one of her dogs turns up missing or run over by farm truck. I don’t know why I torture myself with this saga. It was 13 degrees in OK last night. It appears the PW “let” him in last night.

This morning when I got up the kids were still sleeping. I did a few things and came back in the living room and Chaps was in my spot on the bed.

img_9094

I thought it was so cute I got my camera. I thought that it might be a fun blog about how he moved into my spot and looked so content.

Then I heard about Charlie. Wow what a difference a heart makes.

Poor Charlie……………..

charles

More later……….Love Cat, Chaps and Emma all sleeping with dignity and respect.

P.S. I cannot put a link to her blog anywhere in this post. It just make me nauseated to think I would send traffic her way.
