Emma is going into surgery about noon….

March 25th, 2009 - 8:08 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and CT Scan results lovers: The Doctor just called me and said that Emma needs surgery to fix a disc. I know he said it much better with a lot more details, but I really cannot remember what he said. I am waiting by the phone for the estimate white knuckling my Discover card.

I talked to the tech about Emma’s night and she said she could tell that Emma really enjoyed having her blankee. This is a picture of her at home laying on her blankee. This was taken after she healed from her eye surgery.

I will update everyone after her surgery. I am going to go visit her tomorrow and every day until she comes home. Hopefully it will be Saturday!

More Emma updates very soon. Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Cat, you are always raising funds for other hounds, do you need some financial help for Emma? I could make a small contribution.

I am so happy Emma is comfortable and being cared for. It sounds like the vet is very positive about “Our Emma’s” recovery.

I’ll keep checking in on Basset Hound Town.

By the way, this might be a good day to give the Mayor on of his flossies.

  2. March 25th, 2009 | 9:27 am

Maureen – very good point about the flossie. I just handed him one. This will really make his day. For those of you who don’t know, Emma cannot have treats like that because they have too much protein. The Mayor will be in heaven.

And to answer your other question. NO,NO,NO! But thanks anyway for asking. I have an emergency fund for hound health care. Thank DOG! Let’s all save our little bit extra for the homeless and really needy. I cherish every dime that is donated in the name of bassethoundtown to a lost soul looking for love.

We love you Maureen…….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Cat….Maureen made a good point….you are always helping others….now it is our turn to help you!!!
I hope you will think about setting up a first giving page for Emma, I know so many of her fans would like to contribute….if not there is always snail mail!!! My heart goes out to you…you both have gone through so much….the waiting is the hardest…she is in the best of hands. Keep us updated….we are all saying our prayers!!! Love you!!!

Cat, you are very smart for having a hound emergency fund. I don’t really have a separate fund but save every penny (especially nowadays) and always make sure that I have enough to cover most major expenses. So, I think the best we can do for you (and Emma) is cross our paws and pray for the best. I’m sure she’ll be just fine. Emma is young and very healthy. So, what can Emma eat anyway? I’d like to send a little something her way. And of course I’ll include Mr. Chaps also. Can’t leave him out. After all, he’ll have the hardest part of all helping his sister recooperate. Where can I find your address?

Dear BJ – Your comment came in at the same time I was posting my No,No,No comment. We all need to save what precious little we have for the homeless. I have a fund for emergencies for the kids. Kind of like saving for college, but different! My goodness our bills can really run up. My sister spent 6000 dollars on a kitten she got for free. Turns out a worm crawled up it’s nose and died. Hope you aren’t eating your lunch! LOL

    More money musings later……Cat

Cat, I still say we should have a fundraising page for Emmers. You always help, soooooo many, it’s our turn now, to help you! It would make us all feel good. Did the Dr. say what he will do in surgery…..just repair the disc???? How does he think this happened? and how long will it take her to recooperate? Bless her heart, she always endures so much — she is such a role model for everyone. I know this is weighing on your soul….please know we are here for you every step/paw of the way!!!!!! We will be lifting her up at noon today — please keep us posted. Love you all ~ Audra

P.S. What kind of treats can Emma have?

  7. March 25th, 2009 | 10:00 am

I’m glad Emma has her blankee with her. Have been so worried about her.

Emma amazes me with how brave she is. We will be praying all day for Emma (and for you, Chaps and GM and GP).

    For the record Cat,

I would rather spend money on a Basset or Bassets than any man I have ever been involved with!

  9. March 25th, 2009 | 10:10 am

Cindy – You are very sweet to send Emma something. She really can have no treats but she loves little soft toys that squeak. She has two of her favs with her right now. I have a PO Box.

    My address is

    Cathy Rudert
    P.O. Box 347
    Ft. Thomas, KY 41075

I will also privately send you my home address. I just don’t want it on this blog.

You know, I have to keep the puparazzi at bay somehow.

    LOL

    Oh Cat!
Poor Emma! I’m so sorry to hear that she is having back surgery on top of everything else! Poor sweet girl!
My son wants to send her a toy. What does she like? He just loves Emma so!
    Please keep us updated!

    Hi Emily,

Please tell your son that is so sweet of him to think of our Emmers. Tell him that she loves little, soft toys that squeak. She likes to walk around with them and then get in her bed and slightly nibble on the squeak thingy. It is so adorable. Every time her cousin dogs come for an extended stay she loves to steal their toys. She will sneak up on the pug when he is not looking and grab his toys. She really is amazing. You should see her sneak out of the area with an almost slow motion walk. It is so cute. She will take it to her bed and lay on top of it so she can keep it. Of course I let her. Enzo the pug usually goes home with some of her less favorite toys- the bigger ones. Hehehehehehehe

I am thinking of you and Emma and have prayed for a good outcome. When I saw Pally the 2nd day he was so doped up on morphine that he didn’t seem to know me. So don’t be shocked if something like that happens Cat. It was a couple of days before he really seemed to know me. How is Chaps handling it?
