We love Slinky and Maureen!
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Slinky and Maureen Lovers! I just wanted to let everyone know that Our Slinky is going to have to have a rather large cyst removed from her back paw this Friday. She is going to need some extra drool.
To make matters worse, Slinky will have to wear the dreaded cone. Maureen is going to take off work for a few days to care for her girl.
Good Luck Slinky and your Mommy better keep us posted.
Slinky is such a selfless gal that she even wrote a poem for Chaps. She is never thinking of herself.
Please enjoy her poem and be thinking of her this coming Friday. Maureen will update us on Monday when she gets back to work.
Ode to Chaps
Hello, my name is Chaps and I am a Basset Hound.
I am also the Mayor of Basset Hound Town.
I am a statesman, not just another bureaucrat,
Like some politicians who are nothing but polecats.
I keep things running smoothly so nothing breaks down,
I take my job seriously as the Mayor of Basset Hound Town.
My best friend Our Emma helps me out quite a bit.
Our Emma makes sure everything is working and legit.
Our Mom, Grandpa and Grandma always make us feel specially loved.
We both love to give them snooter kisses, snuggles and hugs.
We absolutely love the Ode to Chaps. We will cherish it forever!
More Slinky updates later……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
Rugs, Jethro, Oz and Harriet have tons of drool coming Slinky’s way. Slinky will be just fine I just hate it that she’ll be wearing a cone. They do have some different alternatives to the cone now. You might want to check it out. There’s some kind of blow up donut or something that’s not as bad as the cone. Jethro got a pretty big cyst removed from his back last Tuesday but he can’t reach the spot so we didn’t have to do the cone thing. He gets his stitches out on Friday and he did really well. I’m sure Slinky will be just fine too! Keep us updated and we’ll keep our paws crossed all day Friday and pray for Slinky.
Cindy – I was thinking about Jethro this morning and wondering how he was doing. That is great news about getting his stitches out on Friday. Emma gets her stitches out on Friday as well! So, Jethro, Emma and Slinky will all be at the vet on Friday! Strange.
Cat
Buckets of drool from my boys and my prayers to St. Francis are going out for Slinky. Positive and no-worry thoughts coming for Maureen also. Boo for having to wear a poopy ol’cone, but it’s for best;)
Mary, Harley and Biggs
Basset and Sussex drool on its way for Slinky.
Oh, my! I forgot to add Leo’s drool for Slinky!! He is my drooliest boy, and when he drinks water he leaves a river behind him when he’s finished so that will go in those buckets too;)…
Mary, Harley, Biggs and LEO!
Slinky’s surgery is on Monday, and I won’t be back in the office until Wednesday to do any posts.
A friend of mine said to give Slinky some relief from the cone, to put a baby sock or dog bootie over her paw, and that will help. Have any of you ever heard of this?
Thank you for all your drool and good wishes. It will help both of us with the surgery.
Cathy,
Thanks again for this wonderful post, and for posting Chaps poem.
Chaps said that Our Emma is getting a little impatient and is anxious to do more. I think this is an excellent sign of her recovery, but she must be careful.
Sorry Maureen – I totally got those dates wrong and I had your e-mail up and in front of me. That is pretty scary!
I used a sock on Emma after she got her stitches out for her eye removal to soften her scratching. I used a baby sock. Maybe they can put a nice thick bandage on her paw, but if she is like Emma, it would be off in no time.
Cat
My Homer loves Slinky and is already drooling for her. I will be praying for Slinky on Monday and will be anxious to read a repawt on her surgery/recovery next week. Homer loves all the special treats and cards he gets from his friend Slinky.
Cat, look in the forum under “A little drool for Jethro”. His bobo picture is in there now. His bobo isn’t near as big as Emma’s tho. Poor girl. But she’ll be fine. I’m so glad she gets her stitches out Friday! It looks like her hair is starting to grow back good too. Rugs pulled his toe nail out of his foot about a year ago. OUCH! And when he did that they put some kind of bootie on him that was made out of some kind of wrap and tape and he didn’t get it off. Of course Rugs doesn’t chew on things either. But sometimes they don’t want it covered all the time either cuz those things need air to heal. I’m sure things will work out with Slinky. She looks so sweet in that picture.
Good luck Slinky on your surgery Monday. Sending a lot drool your way.
Glenn, Charlene, Bailey & Clancy
Paws crossed for Slinky – we always enjoy your poetry!
