The rainbow bridge welcomes a HopPer……

April 20th, 2009 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Liz of House of Puddles lovers: Today, Marilyn helped our beloved Liz across the bridge to rest in peace. Liz came to HOP in June of 2005 after her Daddy passed away. Marilyn welcomed Liz with open arms and also held her in those same arms as she sent her on her way to the bridge today.

Marilyn said,

Liz has been such an inspiration to me. She’s sassy and stubborn and would never give up despite all the problems she’s had with her legs and back and the blindness. But I can tell now she’s ready to let go. I love her dearly and thank you all for entrusting her to my care for these last 4 years. I can’t tell you how much I will miss her.”

Liz was going on 15.

This will take you to Liz’s Page at the HOP website so you can see more pictures of our girl. LIZ’S PAGE

I also thought that you would enjoy seeing this image that I was working on for our firstgiving page. I am in the process of updating the theme with the HoPpers all heading towards the end of a track race. This is Liz in track shorts which are photoshopped on her. She was a real joy to the very end helping me fund raise for her and the other elders Marilyn so tenderly cares for.

Dear Liz – I know you cannot run anymore but you sure made my heart race. God speed dear girl, God speed.

More remembering Liz later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

I feel so sad when I hear of a wonderful Basset going to the bridge. I know it’s part of life, but it leaves such a big hole. I don’t know how some people go out and get another pet right away.

It is wonderful that the last for years of Liz’s life were quality years. I know she will be missed terribly.

It’s got to be hard to rescue older dogs and only have them for a short amount of time. I admire Marilyn very much for being able to do this. Liz didn’t go without knowing she was loved and cared for.

    Cat,
At first I thought those were depends on Liz! Ha!

Marilyn…….you are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of Liz’s passing. How wonderful that Liz was able to spend her ‘GOLDEN YEARS’ with you and the rest of the hoppers. I know you will miss her, but she would of never had the life she had if it wasn’t for YOU!!!! Thank you for all you do for these Senior Hounds. I have a new appreciation for them now, after rescuing one here in Texas. The young one we rescued ‘Gabe’ had many applications for his adoption, but ‘Richard’ (the senior one we have now), unfortunately none. They are such precious souls, that deserve the attention and love that they have never know. We will not give up!

HI Audra – I know what you mean. The Seniors are mostly passed over. It takes someone special like Marilyn. We will not give up on Richard. Never!

    Love you

Max and Lolly (and lots of friends) are waiting at the bridge for you. Lolly makes sure everyone is safe, and Max knows all the best places to lie in the grass in warm sunshine and where to find the best treats. No more blindness or pain at the bridge. Your humans here on earth will miss you, but there is a big doggie welcome party at the bridge just for you sweet Liz.

Sad AROOOOOOOOS that Liz has made her journey to the bridge. We will light the candle for her. My Emily is there to show her around and find her cloud so that she may watch over all who loved her.

My heart breaks everytime a Hopper passes. Marilyn is an angel on earth doing what she does for these sweet souls. She inspired me to get my senior Miss Bonnie Barootiful. Seniors are the sweetest 4 paws to walk on this planet. RIP Liz.

I’m so very sad to read that Liz made her journey to the Bridge–and I also read that Gus went to the Bridge as well, not long after:( Poor Marilyn…how her heart must be breaking…but I’m sure Liz and Gus have met each other and are sharing the vast repast up there at the buffet. I love to visit Marilyn’s Hopper pages–these seniors will live on there, and also in our hearts…
    Sad aroooooos,

    Mary, Harley, Biggs and Leo
