Just getting a jump on Paul!

April 29th, 2009 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and hating hounds in the pound lovers: Yesterday, I received a phone call from the Campbell County Shelter that they had picked up a stray basset hound boy in Newport, KY. That is pretty close to me. Anyway, I have this particular shelter call me with any bassets they get. I bet you can guess the next update. He is a senior hound.

He is on a 7 day hold by law. This gives the owners time to collect him if they decide to do that. So far they have not opted for that but it has only been about 24 hours. I am going to call about him everyday.

I am calling him Paul. Look how big his paws are! I have said it once and I will say it again. There is nothing more pathetic than a basset hound at the pound. You can just see the worry in his face. If Paul is still in prison on Saturday I will go see him.

Oh Paul.

More Paul updates later……..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Homeless older hounds always tug at my heartstrings. You have no idea what their past has been like and when they’re older they have more of that past that may not have been too good. Your a great person Cat for keeping hounds out of this shelter. I’m sure he’ll find a great home through you. Good luck PAUL!

It just breaks my heart to see stories like Pauls. I just don’t understand how someone could just dump a hound or really any animal. We farm and get so many kitties this way just dumped. Even a few times we had a dog on our door step. But when you see seniors who have in most cases been loved and a heart of a family just left behind. I admire folks like Marilyn B. who take in seniors and give her all to them. I hope and pray someone takes in Paul. We have a big handsome fella just like him named Henri. So on behalf of our Henri someone give him the biggest hug and kiss for me.

OMG, he is adorable. How could anyone dump or not watch over closely enough. I like the sounds of Gus, Bonnie, Charlie Bear and Paul. Now I only have to dump my wife.
Thanks Cat and keep us posted. I am in love again. Hang in there Paulie.

Kip – you are too funny, but I bet your wife would not think so. I know how much she loves the hounds. I bet she would not even notice one more big bear! Paul bear!

Joni – Marilyn just took Winnie. She is crushed as most rescues are. We will work hard to find him another home.

Mary – Kentucky has such a difficult situation. Bluegrass is so small and they have no help. I try to maintain a very small Northern KY portion. I want to do more in the future. A lot more.

    Cat,

The Mayor and Our Emma need to erect a statue to you and Marilyn from HOP in Basset Hound Town for all the wonderful work you both do on behalf of Bassets.
