THE DOG CHAPEL…..Stephen Huneck
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Dog Chapel Lovers: I just cannot wait to visit this place some day. I really want to take the kids. I have some pretty fun goals that I hope to achieve within the next 2 – 3 years.
Last Sunday I featured a tiny church in Iceland. One of our residents, Lois commented about the Stephen Huneck Dog Chapel in Vermont and how much she loves it. She said she had some pictures so I asked her to send them for today’s blog about soulful places.
Very nice Lois. Great picture. Lois also sent this picture of the Chapel,
Could that sky be any bluer?
The Chapel has stain glass windows with some of Stephen’s famous art. Just breath taking.
I popped over to the Chapel’s site this morning (link above) and found out some fun and fantastic news. The Dog Chapel is featured in the July issue of Architectural Digest which is out now. Do yourself a favor. Click on this link and enjoy more pictures that will make your Sunday special.

Just magical. I think I might pick up a copy today.
Thanks Lois for reminding me about this treasure so I could show case it again. I hear Vermont calling!
More magic later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
How cool is that?! I sure hope there’s an easy way for me to find places that are dog friendly and fun like this when I start traveling. It seems like more motels are allowing dogs to stay and I’m hoping that trend continues to grow. I really think that more and more people are traveling with their pets.
There are so many choices these days for places to stay with your dog family. Nice places and some charge and some don’t. i did a story on many of these places, there are books hard copies and on line, you will be so happy to see all the inns, hotels, and motels that welcome dogs and cats with open arms. I have been to this chaple and the animals are asked to come in and spend time. His books are great and art work so great too. i have the picture of the lab and ball. Thanks for putting this spot on your blog.
i have all his books and i try to give them to the little kids in my life…
we call this brown & whitew statue the mr cooper statue since it looks like him!
dog mountain is free and the chapel too…he does have a jar out for doantions to the local shelter which is pretty cool.
its nice to watch the dogs in the chapel…they are very polite and respectful as tho they know it is a special place. and its like a waddle…no real fights there …ever
well worth the trip…not far from the white mountains of nh, cabot creamery tours, ben & jerry’s tours …i give it a 10 finger & 40 paws up!
Loved all the fabulous info on Stephen Huneck! Thanks Lois for telling Cat about this!
Nin
That must be a magical place. What a great trip that would be. It would be even more special if you would run in to Cat, Chappers and Emmers there. Thanks for sharing this.

I would love totake my boyz there sometime. I had seen this written up before somewhere. Thanks for reminding me Cat. I shall look into it for a road trip this summer or fall. Chaps is so patriotic. He is right..Old Glory is a grand old flag.
Hey Nin – Maybe we can go to the Chapel after we visit your son at VMI? Maybe not this first time but other times.
Cat
I think it would be really cool if we did a bassethound town meet up at the Chapel. Maybe someday we can. It would be really cool!
It is beautiful, it looks like something out of a storybook.
[…] all in all a special visit…as it always is at dog mountain & the chapel. […]
