Lament for Chaps’ Tail…….
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Poem Lovers! Residents Maureen and Slinky have sent a beautiful poem in honor of the Mayor. It is so beautiful and we are so touched!
First off I will show you a picture of the Mayor running to me after he was released today! The vet said that he was howling and howling. I know exactly what that was all about. He was trying to send me a message to come get him. That is pack mentality. That is how they gather the pack back together.
Now for the poem!
Lament for Chaps’ Tail
I am Mayor Chaps Rudert of Basset Hound Town,
And I have a medical condition that has caused me to frown.
Today I am get a nasty cyst removed from my tail.
This has caused me to howl and wail!
The surgery doesn’t scare me because I am very brave,
But your kind thoughts and prayers are something I crave.
I am not conceited or vain about my tail,
But I must admit I can be a little frail.
But I am a Basset’s Basset, so I my ears and tail must always be perfect,
So the image I project is definitely what I wish to depict.
Our Emma has been holding down the fort while I have been indisposed.
So I must return to my Mayoral duties and review the many things that
have gotten away from my ears, eyes and nose.
Your Mayor will return 110% good as new,
But now its time for some treats and a nap so I will say adieu.
End of the poem!
Oh Maureen, this was so touching. We love it so much. He has about 20 staples in his tail. He was in pain tonight but the pain medication has helped greatly.
I printed the poem and tucked it under Grandma and Grandpa’s door.
More loving Maureen and Slinky later……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
Wow…I turn my back for a few days and look what I miss! Glad Chaps is out of surgery, teeth cleaned and cyst removed. Such a nice poem too Maureen & Slink!
Great poem! Too cute watching Chaps run down the hall. I can hear Jethro and Rugby howl when I go pick them up from the vet too. But what’s even more funny is when Jethro actually gets to the lobby and meets me he starts crying. I mean loud. And he continues to cry, loud, until I pay the bill and we leave. The girls that work at the front just laugh so hard at him. I try to remind them to let me pay the bill before they bring him out but sometimes they forget. Then when we get in the car he’s a little more quiet but will cry a few more times just to let me know how upset he is. They are so funny.
Glad to hear that Chaps is recovering but don’t let him over exert himself.
Happy Chaps is recovering. I loved the poem it was perfect
