The Mayor had a very hard day yesterday…..
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wondering about the Mayor lovers! Yesterday was hard on the Mayor because not only did I have to leave his side but hours and hours of thunder storms rolled through. My Mom always goes on these transports with me but yesterday we made the decision for her to stay with Chaps. There is no way that my Dad could have kept up with him. There is just absolutely no consoling him. He tries to get on the back of the couch, he cries, he paces, I could go on and on.
The only thing that seems to work is if you just walk the floors with him. My Mom said that she thinks she logged about 3 miles just in my tiny home.
This morning the Mayor is back to normal, laying in the kitchen…..
He saw me taking the picture and had to come to his Mother. I think I have a Momma’s boy?
Then Emma heard us so she had to come and check out the situation. A nice long drink of cool, clean water was in order…..
Of course I had to give them a treat after that! No wonder Chaps is always in the kitchen.
More back to normal later……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
Poor Chaps. I just love how his hair parts down the middle of his neck. Rugs and Harriet don’t like storms either. Rugs shakes like a vibrator, pants, drools and won’t leave my side. Harriet pants, paces the floors and has to be right by my side too. So it’s pretty hard walking around my house during a thunder storm. I’m tripping over dogs! It’s pretty funny when I sit on the doggie palat I have in the middle of the living room floor with Rugs and I pet him while he’s panting and drooling. Then Harriet walks in circles around us. We look like a circus! It’s funny but it’s not. Oz and Jethro just sleep through the whole ordeal. Makes you wonder why some dogs are so scared and it doesn’t bother others.
I am so glad your mom could stay with Chaps yesterday. I was worried about him because you were gone and I saw the storms rolling through there. It would be too much for your dad.
Our collie always panicked during storms, but for her I think she saw storms as a serious threat to her “flock” (us), and it seemed too big for her to protect us.
Ms. Beatrice Basset is a good weatherdog. She knows if the severe warnings are meaningless, in which case she snoozes through the thunder, even the tornado sirens. If I need to worry, however, she goes into GTO mode (glued to owner). I trust her before I trust the weather channel. On the other end of the spectrum, Macy, the Corgi, thinks tornado sirens are party horns and wonders who forgot to invite the Corgi.
I think the Mayor has a lot on his mind. His ears might be big and long but his shoulders may find it difficult to carry all his responsibilities. I think it wonderful the way Our Emma helps out.
