Chaps and Emma’s adoption announcement…..

August 6th, 2009 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and adoption announcement lovers: I had to show you the adoption announcement I sent out to my friends and family back in July of 2004. It said something like……

“I am thrilled to announce the adoption of my 2 babies Chaps and Emma. Chaps weighs in at 75 pounds and 36” long. Emma weighs in at 20 pounds and 18” long. Please do not send baby gifts just checks made out to CAMPBELL COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER in the enclosed envelop.

Please put in the memo section, IN HONOR OF LILY AND CHLOE RUDERT.”

I think we made about 100.00 dollars for the shelter. I decided to go with my county pound because I could not get several area basset hound rescues to e-mail me back. Sad, but true. I know the doe went to good use and now I am the first one Campbell County Animal Shelter calls when they get a basset hound. So, I guess it all happens for a reason!

Two big beautiful reasons! OMG I could just dive into that old picture and kiss those faces. They were both so, “Who is the smothering lady?”

As we all know they found out quickly who the smothering lady was! hehe

More smothering later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

You do have some beautiful dogs. And yes, everything happens for a reason. I have a friend that always says that. And it’s true. I know shelters aren’t as good of an investment as rescues cuz rescues don’t kill but the dogs in the shelters, even tho they are there temporary, need basic things. Even a rug to sleep on is luxury to them. I’ve given food and a few beds to shelters. Now when I give I give to basset rescue. Boy, we know a lot of rescues we can give to now!

little miss emma is too adorable for words. She has always had the most incredibly beautiful ears. The Mayor of course distinguished as usual. Thanks for sharing this piece of history with us. I love pictures of the kids.

I can’t believe the difference in their sizes, but it does look like Our Emma’s ears grew fast.

I love the picture. Emma is so beautiful with those long ears. I just love puppy faces. But our Mayor has not been unnoticed, for he was and still is a handsome fellow. Your blessed with two adorable babies.

This is a lovely picture of your two beautiful hounds. But it is more. This photo could be titled anticipation or expectations or… It has a feeling, it evokes a sense of “sometime wonderful” is happening. It is as if the expressions of each hound are suspended in a state of anticipation (of there future life with you maybe). It works, I think, even if you aren’t a hound lover.

Chaps and Emma are two very lucky hounds to have come to live with you Cat.
