Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and looking to keep ears clean while hounds are eating lovers…..

I was wondering if anyone out in INTERNET land uses what I call meat loaf pans for water dishes or feeding basset hounds? Their long narrow shape seems to allow the ears to fall to the side. I put Chaps bowl on a no slide pad because he eats in the kitchen on a hard wood floor.

Here is Emma in the dining room.

I use this type of dish in my complement of dishes and it always seems that Chaps and Emma’s ears are cleaner after feeding. It also seems that they fit in the dishwasher better.

My meat loaf pans are the blue pyrex type but you can buy the metal type as well. That is a 1/2 cup measure next to the bowl. My kids each get a cup of kibble per meal, 2 times a day with a small amount of potato mush.

What do you think? Oh, and I have one more question. Do you wash your hound food bowls in the dish washer with your dishes? My answer is yes. However, I wash on high heat water and high heat rinse.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Katsura Tree Lovers…….

Back in 1995 I lived on my sister’s property which was just like a park. Right out side of my door was this gigantic, beautiful Katsura tree. The most beautiful tree I had ever seen or have ever seen. Actually, horticulturist from all over the state will request to visit it. Professors would bring students to see it. I would sit for hours under it and just look up.

Another reason I loved this tree is because it has heart shaped leaves. Just perfect.

How much more perfect can you get than that?

Let, me just answer that question for you! LOL. Round about fall of 1995, Lily and I crossed meant to be paths. She had been on the streets for months, if not longer and I brought her home to live with me which was the smartest thing I ever did in my life.

Also at this same time I was designing private wine labels for a regional winery. So, I came up with the idea to do a Lily Wine. I called it:

Lily Pad Rudert, Katsura Chardonnay. This is the picture I used.

I picked a leaf off of the tree and scanned it. Inside of the leaf was Lily’s name. The label was basically just this picture plus the leaf. I know I have a copy somewhere. I will find them.

If I think back on it, I am almost positive this was the beginning of the thought process for the Lily book. I did not know it at the time, but I fell in love with graphic design doing this label.

It was so funny that day. It took Grandma and I about 4 rolls of film to get this picture. Here is a closer up.

Our sweet Lily kept wanting to come to us. But for one moment in time she stood in the memory shot. Sometimes I call it the money shot. However, there is not enough money in the world to buy this memory……..

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Skittles Lovers! Well, Chaps and Emma sure are one of those. I was enjoying a few Skittles this morning. The kids have never seen a Skittle before. It is not a candy I ever have around. My friend brought some over, anyway…..

Emma and Chaps wanted to try one!

Emma got a purple one. Yummy!

Then Chaps went into frantic mode….

Heaven forbid Emma gets a treat before him!!!!

Chaps got his favorite color, orange. At first he spit it out, but he woofed it down pretty quickly when Emma started to sniff around…..

I forgot how good Skittles were!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and THE TODAY SHOW Lovers………

NOTHING IS CONFIRMED YET, but I received a phone call today about Chaps availability and interest level to appear in New York City for the morning shows (including THE TODAY SHOW) in very short order.

Why you ask? Well, it seems that the company who did the contest for the Yellow Pages is doing some big time marketing and how better to market than to have the winning dogs on the morning shows? The girl I talked to said that she had little to no info. She was just told to see if we were willing participants. All expenses would be paid of course!

Can you imagine Chaps plugging House of Puddles, talking about giving his winnings to the elders? Hopefully, he is not too sleepy! He would not have been able to donate all of this doe had it not been for all of his loyal residents voting for him day in and day out. Chaps actually receive more votes than the winner of the Cincinnati addition. YES!

It is all very sketchy. It may never happen or it could happen next week or several weeks there after. I had to share the news. Maybe the power of drool and good thoughts will make it happen?????

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I know is that I told the girl I would drive Chaps to New York City at the drop of a hat.

My head is spinning. How cool would that be? It may all just be a dream but I bet I don’t get much sleep, not to mention dreams tonight!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and orange Tootsie Pop Lovers! Chaps is so cute. Just look at him!

As you can see, I have a pile of toys in the office for the kids. About once a day Chaps will go to the pile and pull out the orange Tootsie pop. This is the only toy he plays with in the office. I do have purple and red Tootsie pops. I have to laugh, because orange Tootsie pops are still my favorite flavor. I cannot remember ever picking any other flavor for myself. I am pretty sure Chaps son bought him the orange pop. I wonder if that is why? Maybe Colby Chaps’ smell is on it. Very interesting…….

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Corvette Lovers: Every year Guardian Angel Basset Hound Rescue raffles off a corvette! This year it is a 1960 Corvette Roadster!

What a beauty! Could you see the Mayor riding around in this machine? Emma would be by his side. It would be toooooo cute!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and summer lovers! Well, I am watching my sister’s dogs again. Remember Enzo and Oscar? Of course you do! Emma is having a great time but Chaps, not so much. Also, Oscar cannot figure out where Emma’s eyes went. He keep smelling all around that area. Emma is so sweet. She just sits there, as still as a statue and lets him.

Well, the next time I am babysitting I will also have Romeo! OMG! I went looking on YouTube to see just what Romeo might look like and you will never believe it. I not only found what he will look like but this big guy is also named Romeo! Is that not too cute? It looks like English Mastiffs will give the basset hound a run for their money in the singing department.

“Romeo will sing happy birthday back to you if you ask him, or if you sing it yourself. He apparently sings it to a recorded song too ! He’s a three year old English Mastiff who weighs 200lbs.”

OH MY GOD!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Lily book Lovers! So far this week the Mayor has booked 3 gigs for the upcoming school year! Chaps and I read to school kids and teach dog safety. Who can be better than him at that?

Chaps and I always do a dog safety lesson for the kids. That is how we start out out visit. We explain how to act around a dog. After the lesson the kids practice on the Mayor…..

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and loving seeing basset hounds playing. Especially a big hound and a little hound. It makes me think how sweet joy is. Just to see such a big basset play so sweet with a baby………This is a 7 minute video. Worth every second!

That baby is so lucky to have that big hound in it’s life…….
