Labor of Love Day for Big Joey!

September 4th, 2009 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Labor of Love Day Lovers! How do I come up with these titles? I don’t know, I guess it’s a gift of mine! ROFLOL!

Anyway, just take a look at this guy. His name is Big Joey and he is in a shelter about an hour from me in the Grant County Pound! They state on Pet Finder,

“*Big Joey is the largest basset hound we have ever seen! He was not well-taken care of by his former owner, so now he needs some help. He has an ear infection, but when we tried to treat it, he got quite testy with us – it must hurt really bad. Big Joey needs someone who can accept his flaws and love him anyway. Everyone deserves love. Even Big Joey.” *Note from Cat…clearly they have never seen Chaps!

Big Joey has been at the pound for quite awhile but no one has adopted him. Probably because he has a horrible ear infection. He was really in pain.

The people at the shelter were very kind to keep him for so long. They all love him and say what a good boy he is now that his ear infection has cleared up. Suzanne Fitch of Mid-Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue has claimed him and he will being going to New Jersey in short order after we get a transport set up.
(Fa gedda ’bout it BIG JOEY) – hehe

Since we have a long weekend ahead of us and, well, I am not one to shy away from visiting a hound in need, Grandma and I are going to go visit Big Joey tomorrow. We are not bringing him back with us because the vet at the Grant County Pound has agreed to neuter big Joey for a very fair price. Plus, his ears are almost healed and he even jumped into Steve’s arms today. Steve works at the pound and he agreed to let me come tomorrow while he is cleaning and remodeling the shelter. So, for Grandma and I it will be a LABOR OF LOVE DAY! We can’t wait to meet Big Joey and take him a few treats (shhhh, don’t tell anyone). We will take him for a walk and have a nice belly rubbing session. I can’t wait!

MUCH MORE about Big Joey later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

This is so kind of the both of you, I know Big Joey will be thrilled with your visit. I am glad his ear is healing nicely and he will be in a loving home.

    Cat,

You need to send me your nephew Ronald full name and address. Slinky is anxious to send him a package, Chaps and Emma are anxious too. I promise it will be nothing embarrassing or against the rules. Just some snacks.

You are soooo cool Cat! I know it will be a treat just to get out for a walk much less real treats then belly rubs! He’ll be in heaven. It’s so rewarding to do that isn’t it? Let us know how it went! I’m sure you’ll take pics. Can’t wait!

Cat give Big Joey a hug and kiss for me also. I have a Big Henri for he is about 100 last Vet visit. She says he is in good shape but not fat. So I Love Big hounds. He sure is handsome and we here are so happy to know he has a nice place to go to.
