A little girl still likes to go to the window!

September 21st, 2009 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and remembering what it was like to look out the window lovers!

Close you eyes for a few moments. No, a few more moments. Walk around with your eyes closed. I can not do it for more than a few seconds…..I know, most people say it’s different for a dog. But I wonder how much? I see Chaps laying by the window every day looking out. It’s actually a big part of what he loves to do.

Emma still goes to the window when she hears a sound because she remembers how she could see…..

Times like these are a bit hard, but I get over it. She is my child and I have every right to feel a bit sorry for her as she stumbles toward the window.

Emma can see

More closing my eyes and trying to see what she sees later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

It’s photos like this one, that still breaks my heart! I’m sure it breaks your heart EVERYDAY! I know she has adapted to not seeing, however, she DID ONCE SEE and I’m sure she remembers. How are her days now……does she still seem depressed? Do you think she has adjusted? or ever will? I just ache for her and you and hate that she and your family has to endure this. I know it has become a part of your life, but no one should have to endure such a hardship. Your always in our thoughts and we love you!

I think about Emma all the time too. And I feel so sorry for her and you too Cat. I can’t imagine what you have to endure either. But, I also think about the fact that Emma is very protected, very loved and very lucky to be where she’s at in this time of her life. I don’t even want to think of what some blind dogs out there may be going through because they aren’t as lucky as Emma to have help with their handicap.

And another thing, she may not be able to see but as you pointed out she can hear and she can feel that warm sun beating down on her pretty fur. I’m sure there are a lot of other senses that tell her what’s going on around her and even outside that we don’t realize. Nothing will ever replace the fact that she cannot see but I hope that she’s adjusted. She has been looking very hpapy in the recent pictures you’ve taken.

Cindy, I agree she has been looking so happy and well in the recent pictures we have seen of her. My favorite is the one of her sun-tanning and the last one of her taking her treat from Grandpa.

Our Emmas is the best little girl. She as been through so much and is so sweet. She is doing great, it’s just those little moments that make me sad and furious all rolled into one. One of the most enjoyable things that dogs have to do is look out of a window or look at their loved ones. She is so lucky to have all of us and mainly she is lucky to have Chaps. He is a blessing.
