September 28th, 2009 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Senior Hounds Abound Calendar Contest Voters! Don’t forget that our Mayor is in the running for his picture to be featured for a month! So far he is looking good but we only have 2 more days to vote. Things get a bit frantic in the final hours! OMG!

The Mayor has 133 votes. Each vote costs one dollar. Grandma and Grandpa each cast 5 votes a piece today and I cast another 40. The Mayor is up to 133 votes. Here is the link so you can look at how he is doing!

SENIOR HOUNDS ABOUND CALENDAR CONTEST

Mayor Chaps

I am hoping that he gets to be the October boy! However, I just learned that the top vote winners get to pick their own months. I really want him to be October, the month of his dear birth! He is going to be 9 on 10-17-09! Our Mayor is the best Mayor ever! So, can you donate a few bucks to a really great retirement home for Sr. basset hounds? This is their major fund raiser of the year. Also, this calendar could be your major holiday gift of the year! I buy them for all of my family. Easy to ship and tax deducible! You really cannot go wrong!

Kennedy, Davis, Bumper, and Abby visit Lily and Chloe’s bench!

September 27th, 2009 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and visiting Lily and Chloe’s bench lovers!

This is a huge event in basset hound town and we are just jumping for joy! Back when I started this website I wanted to showcase Chloe and Lily’s bench and ask people to visit it. Well, 3 years later we have have our first visitors!

100_1074

From Left to Right!

BUMPER, DAVIS, KENNEDY AND ABBY!

Amazingly, Bumper and Abby look very similar to Lily and Chloe! This is just the cutest picture ever! Thank you Davis and Kennedy soooooo much!!!!!!!

Davis and Kennedy’s Grandma sent me the picture along with an e-mail that said,

“Today we took a walk to see the bench in memory of Chloe and Lily in front of Highlands. I took a picture of my 5 year old grandchildren Kennedy and Davis sitting with my basset hounds Bumper and Abby. Bumper is my baby – he is a large 70 pound red and white guy who has enough extra skin on him to create another basset. He loves the kids and is just a wonderful dog – he lives up to the reputation basset hounds have as he is a true couch potato. Bumper is 7 years old and we got him from a breeder at the age of 5 weeks.

Mr. Delicious will melt your heart in Northern, KY!

Bumper

Bumper poses for the camera looking so cute!

Abby is my husband Rick’s sweet little girl. We call her sweet pea because she is so adorable. Unlike her cousin Bumper – Abby is tri color and smaller weighing only about 40 pounds. Abby is also 7 years old and loves to lay in Rick’s lap to watch TV.

100_0709

Is it time for TV Daddy?

100_0705

Scoot over, here I come Daddy!

They both love food and cannot wait until 4:15 when “daddy” comes home from work. BASSET HOUNDS ARE THE BEST !!!!”

I could not agree with you more Judy! I was shocked and amazed that basset hound town finally received a picture of our beloved bench honoring my very special girls. And, as promised on the website, we delivered your precious grand children a Lily book!

bench

Here is the link on my website so you can see all of the details!

CHLOE AND LILY’S BENCH!

We not only received bassetabulous pictures but we made new friends right here in our home town! Judy is the best and has alerted me to several other bassets in our area. I was hoping we could do a mini waddle back at the park and get to know each other. Bassets are the best because the bassets that own us make sure of it! SLURP!

It’s been real…..

September 27th, 2009 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and it’s been real lovers….Well, I am heading home today which ends my fun with Julian and his dogs. We had such a good time. It is so much fun to see an English Mastiff puppy grow before your very eyes! LOL

IMG_3626

What a good boy. We also had fun walking up to the bus stop to greet our other good boy! JULIAN!

IMG_3641

But now it is time to go home to my own kids. I just got off the phone with Grandma and she said that last night we had a storm that really scared the Mayor. We have tried everything and nothing works. Grandma had to come down stairs at 10:00 and she had to sit with him until midnight. By the time she got downstairs he had taken all of the pillows off of the couch and the he had the blankets all over the place. I have to come up with something to help him. There has to be something.

More looking forward to seeing the kids later…Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

This is kinda cool!

September 25th, 2009 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Kinda Cool Lovers! Right now I am at my sister’s house and I am on my computer at my house. HUH? I am remotely controlling my computer from my sister’s computer. It is called logmein.com. It is really great. I don’t have a lap top, so this is the next best thing.

I am having fun with Julian and all of the dogs, especially Romeo. It’s a puppy thing…..hehehe! There is also a lot of excitement in the house because tonight is Julian’s first school dance. He is in the 6th grade now! I remember this picture like it was yesterday, but it was probably 4 years ago or so….

julian&chaps2

OMG they Mayor lives for overnights with his cousin.

Something tells me I am not going to get any pictures of him dancing tonight. Sigh….

More they grow up too fast, later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma and the other mutts that I love!

Never question yourself, just take your camera!

September 24th, 2009 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and taking your camera with you lovers: Well, as many of my dear readers know I am going between my nephews and my house for a few days. This morning I was getting ready to leave and my camera was laying on the counter. I thought to myself, “self”, should I take my camera? I am only running home to work for a few hours. Self said, “you never leave your camera behind you silly girl.”

As I was heading home the first thought that crossed my mind was, “this is why you never leave your camera behind.”

IMG_3591

At 9:00am you have to capture that bald headed guy, covered in orange and black tattoos, with huge earrings, riding a bike that is about 8′ high. How could you not know you would have to do that?

IMG_3592

OK, you are going to have to believe my description because you cannot really see all of the details.

Ahhhhhh…….Cincinnati in the morning!

OK, here is the real reason not to leave your camera behind!

MOMMY IS HOME, MOMMY IS HOME!

IMG_3594

“You smell funny Mommy….not bad, just funny! Like a puplicious”!

More capturing great moments later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Just a few quick pictures of the baby….

September 23rd, 2009 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and pictures of the baby lovers! By baby, I mean our newest family addition, Romeo the English Mastiff! He is a really good puppy. Very laid back but very funny. I just love him. It’s so cute how he follows me everywhere and then just plops down at my feet!

IMG_3575

He really likes to lay next to this odd looking bird sculpture that my sister has. She actually has a few others in different positions. I thought it was cute!

Then I had to run home to check on the kids so I told him. You be a good boy behind the puppy gate!

IMG_3585

Such a cutie!

More pictures later..gotta run! Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

The Hounds are not Happy!

September 22nd, 2009 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wondering why the hounds are not happy lovers! Well, today I am in charge of my sister’s most treasured loved ones. Her son and her dogs. Her and her dear hubby are going away for a few days and therefore, the hounds are not happy. My Mom will be in charge of my most treasured loved ones…..Chaps and Emma!

I will be coming back and forth because my sweet nephew is in school all day, so it’s not as bad as it sounds dear hounds!

So, this morning I was cleaning the kitchen and this is what I saw. A real sad sack….

IMG_3565

Oh Burger Boy don’t worry. Mommy be home tomorrow to check on you and Grandma….

More Sad Sack Stories Later…Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

A little girl still likes to go to the window!

September 21st, 2009 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and remembering what it was like to look out the window lovers!

Close you eyes for a few moments. No, a few more moments. Walk around with your eyes closed. I can not do it for more than a few seconds…..I know, most people say it’s different for a dog. But I wonder how much? I see Chaps laying by the window every day looking out. It’s actually a big part of what he loves to do.

Emma still goes to the window when she hears a sound because she remembers how she could see…..

Times like these are a bit hard, but I get over it. She is my child and I have every right to feel a bit sorry for her as she stumbles toward the window.

Emma can see

More closing my eyes and trying to see what she sees later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

What do you think about this old picture of Grandpa?

September 21st, 2009 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Olden Time Picture lovers: Well, yesterday when I was looking for a picture of our family at a National park I stumbled upon this picture of Grandpa as a boy. Nothing too special, just a kid clowning around at first glance. Then I showed it to Grandpa and asked him about it. He pointed out what I did not see. A puppy…

IMG_3515

He was on his way back from the general store and had his bibbed overalls stuffed with what he was sent for. As he turned the corner, in his path was a puppy. Ever being the dog lover, Grandpa ditched his bike so as not to hit the young pup. When I first saw this picture I did not even see the pup. Grandpa had to point it out to me. As we looked closer the pup appeared to be a basset hound? Could it be? It looks like Emma!!!! Grandpa could not remember but agreed that it looked like Emma!

IMG_3522

It kind of freaked me out! Look at how Grandpa is smiling at the pup after he basically hit the dirt!

IMG_3524

He thinks that he was almost to the campsite and that is why someone had a camera. My Dad was a huge photographer from a very early age. So, could it be? That this connection of my Dad reaching for a hound is a connection that he passed on to me?

IMG_3521

Oh it just makes me smile. We think he is about 12ish in this picture. He cannot remember much about it.

This small grainy photo means the world to me. I took pictures of the picture so I could show my dear readers more detail.

More wondering about the Emma look a like later….What do you think? Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
