I have been to a few Nationals in my time and it really is fun. I know this may sound odd, but I think that I actually made a connection with Chaps, before I knew him at a basset hound Nationals in St. Louis. I cannot be sure but I think about it some times. I was walking through an area that had hounds in kennels waiting in between show times and I bent down to look at the hound with the biggest frecklest paws I had ever seen. OMG – this memory is bringing tears to my eyes. I remember making a connection with that hound and for the life of me I think it was Chaps. Can you believe that story? sniff, sniff…..

The Mayor was a beautiful show hound in his youth. This was the day I picked him up. This was the last time he stacked or ever will. He was not thrilled with showing. He just wanted to be the Mayor.

The Mayor is just stunning. And yes, he was the mayor back then too! It was just his people that didn’t realize it. Ha!

Chaps you could still do the V ring. Melba Toast loved the ring. I was lucky to walk her around it once she did all the work i just followed.

Hey Sandy! That sounds like so much fun. I cannot wait to see your pictures. You know what Sandy? I totally forgot that the Nationals are going to be in Kentucky in 2011. I would love to do the Veterans ring with Chaps. He qualifies because he is a champion. I wonder if he would have to stack? Chaps will be 11 in 2011. He might not want to but we will see. It would be fun to make a huge event out of it and have a basset hound town cheering section. That would be tooooooooo Cool!
    YES!

Looking at the agenda, I think I know what part the Mayor would want to attend … BREAKFAST!

Reserve us a spot in the cheering section if the Mayor decides to make one last professional appearance in 2011! If Stump can do it, why not Chaps?!

The Mayor as well as his MOM! I love a good breakfast!

You are so right Kerry! If STUMP can do it so can we! BTW folks, Stump won Westminster last year after he came out of retirement. He is a Sussex Spaniel. Kerry has a SS and that is how we met! ((((((((((Nell)))))))))))

Ok, I’m still laughing. How appropriate! Just out of curiousity I’m looking at state parks to see who’s near you Cat. Check this out! Maybe the mayor is governing more than one town!

And ya know what? Some day we will. Some day we all will! Wouldn’t it be so much fun to invite all the residents one week and see how many hounds we could bombard this park with? Ha! I already checked it out, dogs are allowed as long as they are restrained. And it’s weird that it just says “restrained”. Most parks here in Texas tell you the restraint has to be no longer than 6 feet. We kind of cheat on that though.

The hounds and I are doing the TX 4 step in anticipation of this coming true! This is so cool to think about. Can you imagine restraining Emma? Miss mountain goat? I will put Grandma in charge of that! LOL!

I will work on this but only with Cindy as my co-worker! LOL! WE Love our Cindy! YES!

How strange is the name Big Bone Lick? I read that it had to do with the buffalo licking salt in that area.

WHATEVER! As the Mayor would say! LOL

How does the Mayor do it?!!! He just gets more handsome and rugged with age!!!

I think the Mayor was tired of showing and winning, he wanted to give something back to the community. That is why he became Mayor, and that is why he is such an excellent public servant.
