BOO!
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Howlloween Lovers: If you could have written the perfect script for Cabbage night, Devil’s night, Day of the Dead, Gate night, or Mizzy Night all commonly referred to as Mischief night, it would have been my house, last night.
It was right out of Hollywood. As the night began to fall the winds whipped up creating a high pitched buzz as they pushed their way through the branches emptying themselves of leaves.
The night before was our town’s pumpkin walk so all of the pumpkins were still outside, glowing and flickering, straining to keep their scary faces lit.
“Ding”. An e-mail arrived….with an attachement…..of a scary pumpkin! Basset Hound Town Resident Judy sent the pumpkin that her grand kids, Kennedy and Karli entered in the walk last night. They did not win. We think they were robbed. Robbed I tell you!
You really have to click on the picture to see all of the detail. It is very cool. I just love it. It wins first prize in our book!
“Howl would you like your burger cooked?” RAWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
I also received another attachment. Judy’s boy Bumper. I really thought it was Elvis!
What a good boy! I love how she has that guitar around his neck!
Well, the winds were still howling and I was really wanting to watch a scary movie but instead I found something 20 million times better!
A 7 hour show of Ghost Adventures……LIVE!
From the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum!
(The live portion of Ghost Adventures Live has come to a close, but you can catch the show later today at 5 PM E/P. Don’t miss the Ghost Adventures Live Post Mortem with Zak, Nick and Aaron on Friday, Nov. 6, at 8 PM E/P, right before the premiere of Ghost Adventures: Pennhurst State at 9 PM E/P.)
Can you imagine 7 hours Live? It started at 8:00pm and I made it until 1:00am. During the course of those 5 hours the following happened.
My alarm system went off.
2 doors slammed.
I smelled Chocolate Cake.
I heard screaming.
My computer shut off by it’s self.
My lights kept dimming.
Chaps threw up.
Emma had a bad dream.
The Police pulled over a car load of football players right in front of my house at 1:00am. Their figures looming large in my front yard. The rain creating a mist around their giant bodies. The shadows made them look like monsters in hoodies.
I had a bad dream (go figure).
All of these events, explainable perhaps….Except for the Chocolate Cake, you might say? Well, I have had a friendly spirit in my home (her home) since I moved in. She bakes Chocolate Cake at all hours of the night and day. Everyone in my family has smelled it.
She has been around less and less. But last night, she was baking a huge cake.
More ghost stories later….Do you have any?
Love, Cat and the hounds from HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
I love The King! Too cute! We don’t have any ghost stories at our house. Not yet anyway. Sure sounds like you had a lot of fun last night! But you scared poor Chaps and Emma! Shame on you!
Cindy! It was the spirits, not me! I heard hounds can sniff out ghosts! LOL
Hounds can sniff out ghosts huh? Ok, if you say so. Poor Chaps and Emma. Their Mommy is nuts! Ha!
ghosties? not in my house…but spend a night on ellis island and i can almost guarranttee you’ll experience something! it’s got a morgue, operating rooms, psychiatric rooms and wards etc. personally i’ve seen dr’s in white coats and clipboards roaming around, heard kids playing, smelled cigar smoke, heard player pianos, furniture moving, had my lunch eaten, seen nurses, immigrants, shadows, etc.
and then there was the bomb dog who would refuse to enter the part of the building that was situated in what would have been where the “hanging tree” would have been (crimminals were taken out to ellis to be hung as a way of showing folks entering the harbor to behave).
and feeling that when you entered certain parts of the island you were constantly being watched and sometimes touched…
oh we need a dark and moonless night and a campfire….and i’ll tell stories.
many national parks are homes to ghosties….
Lois – that would be so cool. Count me on on the ghost stories! I could sit for hours!
Cat
Cindy – It was very strange how Chloe would act around the “old lady” in our home. She would lay towards the kitchen and bark at her while she was baking. I always knew a cake was in the works when Chloe would lay in her spot and start barking. Strange!
Cat
we just need to have a “town meeting” in a centally located campground someplace..i would be happy to tell ghost stories of the national parks around a camppfire…you guys supply the smores…i i’ll supply the spooky stories!
when and where is the next basset hound nationals on this side of the world??? or maybe we should just plan our own town nationals.
dogs most certainly “see” spirits…from the bomb dog who wouldn’t go into certain areas to other dogs i know who have “seen” spirits in both other parks and in private life.
most recently…i have experienced it in my own house…about 2 days after bradley, the rottie passed…i woke up at 3 am to hear buster crying…but happy crying (not like in pain)…now the boys are gated in my room at nite because buster is a master of chaos otherwise. well anyway…he was crying and then he was over the puppy gate…now he never jumps the gate when i am in the room with him. NEVER. cooper was up too and he was crying and head butting the gate (coop jumps nothing).
i’m thinking ..i wonder what has gotten into the place now…(fallen down the chimney etc) so i get up and go into the living room…i turn on the light and there in the room is BRAD…2 days since he passed…but clear as day sitting and smiling looking young and healthy and 140 lbs. and buster and coop are jumping all over him and crying and smiling and estatic to see their friend.
took my breath away. he looked at me..and smiled his big huge bradley smile,…i told him, welcome home BB, good to see you made it safe! now meanwhile they are still crying and jumping etc. with that he turned and was gone. dare i sy it lasted 5 minutes…but there was a 140 lb healthy, happy rottie in my living room..plain as day.
with that…the boys, turned around,,looked at me, smiled and went back to bed.
so yup…dogs do see ghosts. buster had been depressed and mopey with brad’s passing until that point…but after this…he was back to his old self.
Hey Lois, the Basset Hound nationals are going to be in KY in 2011! I actually want to showcase Chaps as a veteran champion. It would be so cool to gather together. I love your comments. I am very over taken by them as well. Very powerful! Cat
i’ll be there! i’ll get me a campsite…we’ll have a fire & let the spookiness begin…what fun! when they were in gettysburg last time tr-state had an event…
Cat,
It would be wonderful to visit you in Kentucky in 2011, but Slinky wants to meet Chaps and Emma next year. Since we are inviting ourselves when would be a convenient time for you, perhaps some of the others on this board could come too.
This pumpkin is soooooo cool, I can’t imagine what could have beaten it.
Lois – You can camp right in the parking lot of the hotel the Nationals are being held out. I am hoping to have or rent a small RV by that time. I will also have a room for everyone to use a bathroom and whoever wants to sleep in the room.
Cat
Maureen – I would love to hold a get together. I think we could make it really fun. I could invite Outlaw Basset Hound Rescue and maybe we could do a mini waddle across the Purple People Bridge. I will have to look into a time frame. I will work on that. Cat
