Let’s take a walk with a Finnish pack of bassets in the snow!

December 23rd, 2009 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo fellow Basset Hound and taking a walk in the snow lovers! I was on Twitter this morning and saw this link to YouTube from basset hound town resident Jon. Howl cool is it to have your morning Joe and watch a beautiful scene like this?

I find the name of the kennel slightly strange. Maybe I am missing some meaning. They are called Kennel Hopeless.

Those hounds look full of hope to me!

More brisk walks through Finland later…Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

They do look like rabbits. And they are having fun in the snow. Probably more used to it than our hounds in much of the US. If they’re a kennel, does that mean their neverminds are getting frostbite? And was this video taken alot earlier in the fall? Right now it is mostly dark in Finland.

As for the kennel name – maybe it is translated into English wrong. Unless, of course, the human has tried to train them like say a lab or a sheltie. Then it may be a good name for the kennel!

It looks like everyone is having a great time, their tails were up and wagging.

Since it is Finland, I do wish they were wearing coats.

    Brrrrrrrrrrr!

Awesome!! You have to love the leap bassets do so that their bellies don’t get cold! Bumper hates it when his belly hits the snow.

Wau! You found my video! I´m the owner of those dogs and breeder for four of them and kennel name really is Hopeless… My video was really recorded this morning. So during the day time some light is seen also in Finland. It has been years since we had a white Xmas in South-Finland, but this year it is true…
Our dogs have used to cold weather, but for oldies we also put the coat at Winter times.

Brief clarification to my kennel name… one of my first brood bitches name was Hopeless in Love V.Hollandheim and as I feel that me and my dogs are like she – hopeless – I decided that it is gonna be my kennel name.

Hi Taija – Oh, that totally makes sense about the kennel name now. It is a very nice honor. Your video really made my day and I hope to see many more! Happy Holidays!

what a glorious time those hounds are having. Everything that can flap in the breeze is flapping. What a great sight to see.

Nothing like twirling floppy ears in dome head deep snow!
