NO PICTURES ON THIS POSTING – This is one of the worst hounds in need I have ever seen:(

February 1st, 2010 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and brother can you spare a dime lovers…….

I am not showing pictures on this posting but I do have links to pictures of our Trooper at the bottom. I am also linking to Trooper’s Firstgiving page which does have one picture.

Tropper is a very urgent case that needs some of our hard earned money. He is safe now in a foster home but his health issues are going to be very expensive. Trooper was a stray from Harris County, TX. Howl he ever had the strength and courage to survive the hideous neglect and abuse is beyond all odds.

But guess what? Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas stepped in and lent a dignified gentle hound a hand. I even heard a report from the foster home this morning that Tropper wagged his tail for the first time.

There is only one picture on the Firstgiving page. I have seen about a dozen. I have no problem looking at pictures because I gain so much strength seeing the solid determination and love that hounds like Tropper show me. Trooper is a teacher in how strong love and hope is.

When he first arrived in his foster home, he acted as if he were ready
to give up. But with his nails trimmed, a cozy bed, a loving foster, and many
medicated baths and vet trips to come, his attitude about life has started to
turn around. Today Trooper’s foster told us that she saw the first wag of his
tail!

Oh my God, how can anybody be so cruel to that gorgeous Basset Hound? People who treat helpless animals should be locked up, that is ver, very sad, especially when there are so many kind people in the world who would give a nice home to a Basset Hound.

    Bless dear Trooper xx

Currently he is living the life of a real basset hound in his foster home. He is resting and starting on his journey to recovery. The guy that picked him up was overwhelmed with emotion.

I just love this guy and I told Cindy, who lives in TX and is keeping me up to the second on Trooper, that this guy is going to have a lot of Mommies in basset hound town!

It sounds like his main problem right now is his mange. I’m betting he has intestinal worms too. They didn’t do a fecal because he was so dehydrated and skinny that they couldn’t get any poop. But from what I understand he’s eating and drinking very good. I’m sure he’ll be fine now. He just has a long way to go. In a few weeks I’ll ask if there are any new pictures that Cat can post. Maybe BBRofTX is reading this and they may send more pictures and updates.

    Bless him Cat xx

I know this is off topic, but here’s a lovely Basset Hound girl who saved the life of her owner who had suicidal thoughts! Thankfully he eventually couldn’t take his life and neither could he have taken his life and given his Basset to his parents as it would have reminded them of their loss.

Take notice, Antigone is raising money for Daphneyland.

  16. February 1st, 2010 | 9:36 pm

Sophie – Thank you so much for your comments. I have blogged about Antigone for a long time. You can search on my blog and see how I support his cause. I will always follow him and his wonderful hound .

I do not support Daphneyland as a rescue. I am not going to take away from Trooper here, but I totally understand your good nature to send me this link. I have an entire topic on my forum that will explain why I do not support Daphenyland.

All the best to Antigone and I will still follow and support the cause of getting the word out about suicide. Thank you Sophie!

    ((((((Trooper))))))

I believe this is the saddest basset I have ever seen. Bless basset rescue of Texas and his foster. No hound ever needed rescuing more than Trooper. Going to add to his fund right now.

It breaks my heart to think of all the “Troopers” across the United States that have no one to help them.

  19. February 2nd, 2010 | 2:36 pm

How sad! I´ll pray for Trooper as I also pray that the person who made this to him, is getting a proper punishment!
