Emma has a sister who lives in WA state!
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and enjoying looking at Emma’s sisters lovers. I was looking for something on my computer the other day and found these pictures of Emma’s sister, Bella. I know I have posted them before, but I think it was years ago. Here is our girl Bella getting a drink of water in her new home!
Sharon Nance of BoBac Bassets kept Bella to show her but quickly gave up on her after only several months. Bella then went to someone in TX who quickly returned her to BoBac Bassets. Then Bella found her forever home in Washington state!
This is Miss Bella on her way to her new home from the airport after her flight from TX to WA!
Ahhhhhhhhhh, look at that face. She is Emma’s triplet! Oh howl I love that face!
Then she went to her new home and found her new bed!
Herz was tuckered out after that long flight! What is so sweet is that Emma does that some leg kick out over her bed. So sweet!
More loving Emma’s sisters later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma
What a beautiful girl! But Emma is more beautiful. Do you contact them often? I’m amazed at how you have all this info. How in the world did you manage to find out who bought the siblings to get in contact with them?
She is so pretty. But like Cindy says Emma is much prettier. I am so happy she finally has that forever home.
Love you Bella
Hi Cindy – We keep in touch but not frequently.
I found out about Bella before Emma went blind and Sharon actually told me about Bella’s new home.
Within days Emma lost the sight in her first eye. I contacted Sharon and after I told her I would contact Bella’s Mom, she told me not to because it was none of her business. Can you believe that? Of course I contacted Bella’s Mom so she could monitor her eye pressures.
Bella’s Mom has asked me to keep in touch about health issues which I do. She is not on the internet that much so we don’t have too much communication. We both make sure we give each other important health information.
Thank goodness I was able to let her know about glaucoma in the line. I also contacted her about their other sister Diva dying of stomach cancer. She was also blind from glaucoma.
I am all about full disclosure and helping other hound lovers!

I seem to remember you blogging about Diva at one time too. Way too sad that she’s dying. You gotta treasure each day with your hounds because you just never know. I know I’ve been giving Rugs more attention lately just because he’s going to be 11 and you think of the fact that he doesn’t have as much time as the others. Then I feel guilty and think of the fact that one of the others could get terminally ill too. Oh well. I try my best to spread the love and everybody seems to be spoiled. Ha!
And yes, after reading your blogs and dealings with Sharon, I can believe that she said that. I’m hoping that most breeders don’t do business like she does. Like you say, it’s all about the money. No amount of money could ever replace even one of my hounds.
What sweet pictures!
It’s important to share information. As a basset hound breeder, I want my owners to have contact with me and each other. It’s so important to develop an understanding of the lines we have.
I am so pleased to see that the lovely Bella has a nice home with people who love her as all Bassets deserve.
This reminds me… I had better go and take my two, Lucie and Lottie, out for walkies because I can see four soulfy eyes looking up at me!
Here they are at 10 weeks of age, the week after we brought them home, playing in the garden as happy as a pair of Basset pups should be!

Here they are at nine months catching snowflakes on the first day they had ever seen snow and must have wondered what it was!
Have a lovely day Basset lovers everywhere!

I totally agree Jon.
That was one reason I choose to go with a puppy and a “reputable” breeder. I put that in quotes because I later found out that regardless of how high up you are in a AKC breed club does not guarantee that you will be dealing with a reputable breeder. I was looking forward to blogging about the experience and learning all about the top levels of basset hound breeders. The entire experience was a nightmare but I sure did learn a lot. I would not change it for the world. I have my Emma now and I was able to get Chaps out.
Since then I have met and respect some of the breeders. The BHCA is very clickie boarding on snobbish.
I remember the first nationals I went to with my Mom. We were treated like pariahs.
I know I am going on and on but it was just like we were in the twilight zone. I remember asking a handler that had to stunning girl hounds at her side what their names were. She glared right in my eyes for almost 3 seconds then turned and walked away without saying a word. OK – play that one over in your head. Mind you this was the handler for one of the top breeders in the USA today. I had no idea who she was at the time. I guess the lowly riff raff like my Mom and I were not good enough to be in her presence.
My Mom and I still talk about it. When we see her picture in the club publication we re-enact the scene.
That is how one 3 second interaction can change who you are in someone’s mind.
First impressions are very lasting.

I agree with you Cat, Cindy and Jon, this is part of being a responsible pet owner.
Too many people think all you have to be concerned about when you have a pet is to take them out for potty, and put food and water in their dishes. There is much more to it. I was concerned that when I got Slinky she would be home alone for so many hours. For the most part Slinky sleeps, but my vet and her staff told me that I am one the best pet owners at their facility, because I am so conscientious and they can tell Slinky gets a lot of love and care.
Maureen,
Routine, routine, routine. At first it’s hard because they don’t understand. But if you do the same thing at the same time every day they know what to expect. Then they patiently wait for the next event. So you leaving Slinks for however long your gone isn’t a bad thing at all. She knows how long you’ll be gone and when you’ll be back and that’s all that matters. During the last part of a fiscal year I am pretty much forced to take some unused vacation. So I start taking off every other Friday. And can you believe that they start waking me up on Friday’s when I do that? It boggles my mind that they know when the weekend is here anyway. Do they know how to count? Ha!
Sophie – I love your hounds. I have admired them on YouTube for a long time! They are fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing!
