Basset Buddies Rescue of TX raises money and has fun over the weekend!
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and checking in with Trooper’s rescue lovers!
Trooper is part of Basset Buddies Rescue of TX. This weekend some of the volunteers of the rescue met in Kemah, TX at Camp Bow Wow to show case a few hounds and raise awareness and money for the hounds!
Check out this cool poster for Trooper!
I think Cindy said that they raised about 70 dollars in his jar! Is that right Cindy?
Here is the table set up for information and adoption applications!
Very nice looking event. I would have really enjoyed helping out at something like this. This is one of the reason why! Look at this boy hound that is going to be up for adoption soon! OMG! Love at first sight!
Is he not the cutest boy ever? Most everyone who reads my blog knows that I am a big sucker for lace ears! This is Bosco! Basset hound town resident, Cindy Doyle, was at the event and she states,
“Bosco, poor Bosco. He’s the red and white and has a laced ear. He was so skinny and he was shaking so much so we put 2 jackets on him thinking he was cold. Well, I think he was more nervous than cold. He just came in a few weeks ago and he’s been in a kennel. He’s got to get some weight on him before he can be neutered and he’s also HW+. It’s very rare for us to get HW- dogs in this area. So after he’s neutered then he’ll be going through HW treatments. That’s about a 2 month process so he’s got a way to go before he’s adoptable. I’m hoping he’ll find a foster family though. He was just way too sweet and I just fell in love with him. If I had room he would have come home with me. ”
Here is Bosco with his coat on next to a friend who needs a home! Cindy what is the deal with him Bosco’s friend. I think he is adorable! Look at that face! Geeze he is cute!
Then we have this duo!
Ah……Hounds at events like this always look so hopeful! Again, Cindy tell us more in the comment section if you can!
Here is a close up of Miss Pink Coat!
Just look at that face. So cute!
I also have received some updates about Trooper that I will be posting very soon. He is being so loved at his foster home. Our boy is doing everything in his power to recover! He is such a Trooper!
More wondering who is going to get Mr. Lace ear later! Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
Hopeful Hounds … I hope for them as well that they found or will find new homes very soon. I know why my husband won’t let me go to such events, because they would all come home with me! Poor Bosco … he needs a foster home where he can heal and prepare for his furever home. No hound should be sad or scared.
Yes, we raised $68 in his jar. One lady had a wad of money in her hand and said she was looking for a good cause to donate it all to. When she saw Trooper’s poster she said that’s exactly what she was looking for. She threw in a 20 and 7 1’s.
The black and white hound next to Bosco is Roxie. She’s a mix but she is very pretty. She’s ready for adoption but did not find a home on Saturday.
The duo in the picture are Brinkley and Mindy. Brinkley is on the left. He got a foster to adopt home on Saturday! The home he’s going to has 2 other dogs and they wanted to make sure that they would all work out so they decided to foster to adopt him instead of going straight in to the adoption. So lets all pray that it works out for Brinkly!
The hound on the right side of Brinkly is Mindy. I’m not positive but I think she’s one of the 30 puppy mill dogs that we’ve taken in. She’s actually staying at a mixed breed rescue, Dakota Rescue. We partnered with them a while back and when we’re out of foster homes and they have room they help us take in bassets. Mindy actually got adopted out on Saturday! We were so excited for Mindy. Poor girl waited patiently in her crate while her new owner ran home to get ready for her arrival then came back and picked her up. She was a sweetheart. It was damp and chilly that day and she had on that sweater. She kept getting her arms up in the body part and couldn’t sit up right and kept falling down. Ha! I opened up her crate several times to untangle her. She was sooooo very sweet. I wish her luck with her new furever home!
All and all it was a really great day. I always say, if we can get just one foster home, one adoptive home, one home for a homeless hound, it makes the whole ordeal worth it. It also helps to get the word out as people drive by and stop to see what’s going on. We passed out business cards and brochures and encouraged people to rescue. No matter what breed your looking for, rescue is the way to go. And we also hope that people who visited the event will let others that are looking for doggie companions know about rescue.
Being part of any event that promotes rescue is NEVER a waste of time. Or I don’t think so anyway. And Cat, if you were in this area I would have dragged you out there with me! You would have had a blast!
Thanks Cat for blogging about our event. I look forward to attending more as I’m getting back involved with rescue again.
I try and look at the bright side that these hounds will be adopted and go to a safe loving environment, but it hurts so much to think of them being abandoned and neglected.
