HERE IS A REVIEW I FOUND ON THE NETS BY DEDE ANDERSON……

Okay, I admit it … I was an unbeliever. I’d been hearing good things about Jennifer Crusie for a few years, but I just sort of ignored them. Well, from now on I’ll be the one singing her praises because I just finished her newest book, ANYONE BUT YOU, in Harlequin’s Love and Laughter line.

To be honest, even after perusing the blurb on the back on the book I really didn’t think it sounded all that intriguing. Divorced woman (with crazy friend) gets new dog (basset hound) meets man, doesn’t want to get involved, blah, blah…

So skip the blurb and start reading. I did, and when I was finished, I wanted to rush out and tell all my friends about it — just as soon as my side stopped hurting from laughing so hard.

Newly divorced after 16 years of marriage, Nina Askew is enjoying her freedom, her new job and her new apartment, when she decides to adopt a perky puppy. What she gets is a basset hound. (Okay, part beagle.)

But her new dog, Fred, is definitely not perky; he’s “part manic-depressive,” “aero-dynamically challenged” and addicted to Oreos. But the good news is … Fred brings home to Nina a sexy, downstairs neighbor, Alex Moore. (Sure beats bringing your slippers.)

And Nina and Alex are perfect for each other, although Nina doesn’t think so because Alex is a tad bit younger. (Actually, make that quite a bit younger.) And Nina is also pretty busy straightening out her man-crazy best friend and revitalizing the stuffy publishing company she works for.

I probably haven’t made ANYONE BUT YOU sound all that funny. But here’s an example of Jennifer Crusie’s dialogue:

“You’re sure it’s over? Maybe he’s just having second thoughts because you’re both getting serious. Maybe…”
“I caught him in bed with his secretary. I don’t think she was taking dictation. Not with what she had in her hand, anyway.”

Jennifer Crusie spins an original tale. (Not only is Alex younger, but neither he nor Nina want children — GASP!) In fact, it’s so original that I guarantee (have I ever done THAT before?) it will charm and delight. And did I mention that it also has perhaps the hottest love scenes — page for page — that you will find anywhere?

I read recently that Jennifer Crusie is working on her first single title. I can hardly wait because, in my mind, add another 100 or so pages, and Susan Elizabeth Phillips will be facing some real competition for those fans that love a fast-paced, hilarious, sexy read. Let the games begin!

I’m a believer now.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and shopping before a “snow storm” lovers….

OMG! I took Grandma on a planned trip to the grocery store today. It was CRAAAAZZZZZZZY! OK, there is a weather system coming through tomorrow and Saturday is predicted to be bad but from all accounts it is just going to be bad on Saturday.

The masses had shopping carts loaded to the gills and some folks had 2 carts over loaded. It was so funny! The store was jammed with people pushing these carts that weighed 90 pounds or more down the aisles with anxious looks on their faces.

I even found myself buying stuff I never buy! I bought extra bread and coffee. WHY? I think it is the meteorologists. Do you think they get kick backs from the grocery stores?

Or do you think that people feel they have free reign to eat whatever they want when they are snowed in?

I think it is a secret pleasure. Getting all snowed in and having lots of food you usually never have.

I even bought the kids tater tots! They are going to be so jazzed!

Here they are waiting for the snow even though they don’t know! I just took this moments ago with my lap top. Oh dear lord let it snow! I want me some tots! hehehehe

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and scratching your head lovers. Come on. You have got to be kidding me. This cannot be real. This statue was the result of a furious bidding war between two audacious bidders determined to get their hands on the desirable work of art.

DESIRABLE???

OK, hold on to your beverage so you don’t hurl. This dorkie thing went for 104 million dollars! That was hard for me to type.

Too bad the buyer is not into basset hound rescue.

But I tell you someone who is! The Mayor and he will be back shortly to show case his next Valentine for Trooper. This will be a truly priceless piece of art work that would blow this skinny guy right off of his walking man stride.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wondering about carpet sparks friends. OMG! This phenomena has become a real problem for us. I was just wondering howl you deal with it?

Every day and night I walk throughout my home and touch my hounds. It always seems at this time of the year I create sparks.

I will reach down and touch a hound and it generates a spark. Emma never flinches but Chaps acts like I am hurting him. He jumps and flinches. He looks at me like, “Why are you doing that Mommy?” Sometimes I can see the spark. I feel it as well!

Do any of our residents deal with this? Chaps never holds a grudge. But I know he is a bit upset by it. I totally understand that he does not understand.

P.S. this just in from Troopers Foster Mommy who is, by the way, a R.N.! Howl lucky is Trooper!

“What a picture cannot capture is the incredible drive Trooper has to keep going. All he is really able to do at the moment is eat, drink, bathroom and sleep but this takes all of his energy. He is shaky and wobbly when he walks and he cannot see well due to the crusting over his eyes. However, as cold as the weather has been (he is virtually hairless) he braves the elements and staggers outside to do his business. He is very unsteady and his eyes are so crusted with mange that he can’t see well and so he bumps into trees and doors. However, nothing stops him from doing what he needs to do. He just puts one foot in front of the other foot and keeps going. I doubt that he had ever had a bath before and I know that he had never seen, heard, or felt a hair dryer because he needed reassurance that this was going to be good for him. Now he tolerates the bath and he sits patiently in my lap because I am sure that he has decided that the warm air feels good. He has never growled or yelped when I work on him. Even after all of the terrible treatments that I must put him through, he raised his head up 2 nights ago and gave me a kiss! He is such a gift and a life lesson!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Chaps not seeing his shadow lovers! Chaps is very diligent about his efforts to report the weather. He has been carefully working this prediction for 3 years and he has been correct every year so this year should be no different.

Here he is early this morning coming out of his man cave.

Then he went to work looking for his shadow!

No shadow here. Let me look over there…

No, no shadow. Emma was no help because she can’t see.

I better go out back and double check just to make sure…..

OH NO! The sun came out. I still don’t see my shadow.

As hard as I try! No shadow!
