Thank you everyone, again….
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and resident lovers. I really cannot thank everyone enough for all of the support you have given my family over these past several months and really for years.
Yesterday we went to get Grandpa’s ashes….
The kids of course went along….They were his best friends……
In this picture you can see what a tight fit they are in an Element. Almost too tight.
This weekend we are going to have a big slide show in celebration of Grandpa. He was a huge photographer and I have thousands and thousands of slides. I had to dig out all of that last night with paws crossed that it still worked and it DID!
I cannot tell you howl many hours our family sat around this projector. Something so simple can bring so much joy.
Here is a slide of when I went to China with Grandma and Grandpa.
Here is another one. I have the screen set up in the living room and it scared the Mayor so much he spent most of his time in office. Grandpa always said that Chaps had such a delicate soul.
I am really looking forward to it.
Also, I am getting a nice amount of donations from residents in Grandpa’s name. I will send them off to HOP shortly.
Marilyn is suffering the loss of one her elders as well….
Coltrane
He passed in his sleep last night. I find some comfort that my Dad will be meeting all of these hounds he loved at the bridge.
More loving the elders later….Cat, Chaps and Emma
Cathy, it is clear that you inherited your photographic talent from your father and you get your photographic inspiration from Chaps and Emma.
I still wish I could do something more for you and your family during this difficult time. You and your family do so much for others.
I am sad to hear about Coltrane, I know Marilyn was and still is his guardian angel, but he will be missed.
Marilyn- I’m sorry.
Cat- those butt pictures do my heart good–I know you are on the road to recovery. Enjoy sharing your memories with your family and friends.
Cat, Your positivity and pro-basset sentiments are a daily inspiration!
Lots of best wishes from us here at Kennel Björkwood.
You will treasure those slides for the rest of your life. I’m so glad that you have them. We have some very old movies from back in the early 60’s and some slides too. I have no idea what family member has them right now. We used to sit around and watch them for hours pointing fingers at who ever was in the spotlight and laughing till our bellies hurt. It’s so much fun.
Don’t tell me the Element is too small! I still plan on buying one and I have to fit 4 hounds in it! I remember you saying you couldn’t take out the back seat though. The newer ones fold completely out of the way so I’m hoping I’ll get all 4 to fit. Maybe I can take all 4 smelly hounds to the dealership and tell them that I won’t buy until I see if all 4 hounds will fit. You think they’ll let me load them up? Ha!
Slides are wonderful and loads of fun to look at. Brents Dad has boxes of slides over the years and its fun when family gather and we all sit eat popcorn and laugh. They bring joy and sometimes tears. Just remember your Dad is with all hounds watching over you and all those who share the love he had of hounds.
We too are sad to hear about Marilyn loosing yet another senior. She does so much for all of them. Thanks Marilyn:)
Cindy,
Take your dogs when you go to buy a car or van. I decided on a car, then went home, got a blanket to put on the seat and my basset. I came back and told the salesman I needed to see that Katie could be boosted on the seat and that she was comfortable. I don’t think he liked it, it was out of the ordinary, BUT he wanted to sell me a car, so he let me do it. I wouldn’t have bought the car if I couldn’t be sure it was good for my Basset. Remember, they want the money you have, so you have the power.
Cat,
I really envy you having all those picture. It is such a great way to remember your Dad’s life!
Cat……have fun viewing the slides. I remember watching those at my Grandma & Grandpa’s house — it was great family times! Just want you to know that I am keeping you and Grandma in my thoughts and prayers daily! I know this will be a hard road for you, but please remember we are here to support you! The residents of Basset Hound Town love you so much!!!!!
Cat,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my MOM last November and very slowly, time begins to allow healing.
We love you,
Howler, Buster, and Shelia Hulbig
What a great way to share family time, around a slide show. I think Coltrane will be settling on Grandpa’s lap to watch your newest slide show.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. Love Amanda & Watson
Cat – We love you so much. You and your family are in our daily thoughts and prayers. Grandpa Rudert will be missed by humans and hounds alike. We love you Grandpa Rudert.
