He is housebroken and will not poo in the house but still occasionally will ‘mark’ his territory. He has not been fixed but that would likely resolve any lingering issues. We recently added a new baby to our family and are unable to give Weebles the attention he deserves but we hope you can!”
She hopes we can? Now you know why most Basset Hound Rescues won’t take owner surrenders. It’s like dealing with weeds in your back yard. Always rearing their ugly heads.
You cannot make this stuff up. Let’s hope Weebles gets out of this place.
OK this rocks for brains does not neuter her dog. (Remember she is however, procreating, joy of joys, imagine that kid on the playground).

This my friends is the epitome of what makes my blood boil. Howl does this lady have the galls to actually put this on the internet? She even says that he loves kids.

Oh, one more thing. The next news alert I got was asking for money for basset hound rescue. It is like shoving sand against the tide.

This happened and I’m sure continues to happen to BBRofTX all the time. Why would you get a dog knowing that some day your going to have kids and not want it anymore? I HATE PEOPLE! This basset is such a good looking dog and looks so very sweet. How can you just throw it out and not care? All I can figure out is some people treat their animals like they’re a statue or something. They must not take any time with them or get to know them and obviously don’t love them. Maybe they should have a garage sale and put a price on his head along with all the other trinkits they sell!
I know Cindy. I will not sugar coat my feelings towards people like this. She is not even smart enough to see how very stupid this posting makes her look. The idiot will not even get her dog neutered.
Just think about it. This woman is in charge of another human that she will teach her same sorry mistakes to. And the stupidity is passed along.

OMG- he looks just like my Bailey. I would take him in a minute if I didn’t live in an apartment, if only to keep him out of a shelter.
That baby better hope he doesn’t meet the same fate should they decide to have another child!
My family had 5 kids, two working parents, and we always had a well cared for, much loved dog. Lazy people!

I can understand when a dog is given up for medical/financial reasons, etc. but I can’t understand this individual’s reasoning. If the Weebles is good around kids that would be a reason for keeping him.
Not getting him neutered is just uncaring and irresponsible.
But Cat, he’s PODDIE trained! Only on car rides. What kind of a statement is that? Maybe since they don’t have a tree growing in their car for him to pee on? Or maybe he can’t balance himself while the car is moving to do his business? I wonder if he’s poo poo trained also?

OMG I am ROFLMBO.
They aren’t getting rid of him because of kids, it’s because he isn’t housebroken. They didn’t take the time, care and patience to housetrain him, being unneutered exacerbates it, now they want someone else to fix what they broke. I get calls like this several times a week at the kitty rescue. When people call wanting to return their pet, 99% of the time it’s a urination/defecation problem which THEY caused. Just my 2 cents.
We adopted a 6mth old girl named Vanna White from a family because they could not housebreak her. If we did not take her she would have been put down. da…. We got her and we had no trouble at all with her. That was hm..7 hounds ago. She was a doll. As for hounds leaving because of have babies, we were blessed and never had that trouble. I may be dumb but is the issue because of not spending time with the hound as before? We managed and we had 3 dogs when our son was born. The hound my hubby had when we married did not like my daughter who was 5 but when my son came along you could not keep him away and he was the most caring hound we had. Funny 🙂 I hope the cutie gets a home soon. Please keep us posted. Sometimes I think the hounds should find new forever homes for the slaves.
This is just plain crap! How someone can give up a pet when a baby comes is just plain ridiculous. I had 5 children and 3 Old English Sheepdogs all inside our house at the same time. If anything the kids became more responsible with the dogs and all 5 of them now have dogs of their own. I feel sorry for the baby – it better live up to their standards or it may be looking for a new home!
I hope this hound gets out and quick. This family is a sorry excuse and mark my word, they will get another dog that they will throw away. Guess what? They will want help disposing of the next one. It goes on and on.
