Chaps to be an honorary Brownie for a day!
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Honorary Brownie for a day lovers……
In a few weeks Chaps has been invited to speak to a Brownie troop about dog rescue, dog safety and to read the Lily book! OMG!!!! This will be a dream come true for the Mayor, sitting amongst 30 little girls all fawning over him.
Since the Brownies are learning about dog rescue we are going to be showcasing House of Puddles and donating 100% of all sales of the Lily Book to the HopPers!
So, I wanted to show you what I just ordered for the Mayor from the Girl Scouts of America’s website. Actually, I ordered 2 of these….
One for him and one for me, or maybe Emma if I can swing her into the action.
I also ordered this. Do you think Chaps would wear it? I hope a size large fits himz! It was on sale!
If he hates it I will ditch the idea but it sure would make the girls happy.
If the vest sells Lily books he better buck up!
EXTRA FRENCH FRIES FOR THE MAYOR! YES!
As soon as our package arrives I will try it on him and see what you guys think.

OMG! Too precious! Depending on how far you have to walk you may not want him to walk with the vest on. You can always put it on right before you walk in the room. The hat will be fine. Just take some elastic and you can make a simple thing to go around his neck and around his ears to hold it on. That’s what’s good about bassets, their ears help hold hats on! Ha! I sew them on my dogs hats all the time so just let me know if you need a simple pattern.
I think after the girls see him he’ll forget all about having anything on.
The beanie is great and I think the vest will be a real hit if it fits him. Will his have any badges on it or just be plain?
I will just put it on him (if it fits) right before we walk in, great idea. I will have grandma sew him an elastic strap for the hat. I am not sure if the badges will be on it but if not I will decorate it with all kinds of fun stuff. The Mayor may need to do a country wide tour! YES!
I ordered the short vest with the big arm holes. Our Mayor is pretty wide. I sure hope it fits.

Brownies are awesome, I went and helped a troop earn their pet care merit badges last month. I stopped by Petsmart and “borrowed” a kitty for show-n-tell. The girls LOVED him, and he was very mellow. We talked about how to care for pets properly and also what to do if you find a lost kitty outside. The only downside was…they were out of cookies?!?! Anyway, I know Chaps will have a blast.
Melynda! That is cool! You just gave me a really great idea! A have a few boxes of cookies left that I ordered! I might auction them off after the event.

This is just too cool. Chaps will eat up all the attention he gets from the girls. I can get my houndies to wear hats but good luck with the vest! I cannot wait to see pictures of Chaps in the vest.Is he aware that these are the girls with the cookies? I am sure he would be interested in that.
Chaps sure hopes the girls have cookies! His favorites are the short breads! Oh I love those as well!
Make sure the Mayor gets a good nights sleep the day before. He can’t be looking tired and droopy for the girls.
