Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Tropper Lovers! The boy that stole all of our hearts!

Trooper states,

“Saturday was a wonderful day! Basset Buddies had their first benefit auction – and they honored me and dogs like me who need a great deal of expensive medical care. I had so much fun! I met some new friends but I was especially happy that I got to visit with Michele and Randy Beauchamp who picked me up from the animal shelter and brought me to my Foster Mom and Dad. I feel so much better now than the first time that I met them – and that would not have been possible if they had not cared about me – so I gave them sweet kisses to thank them for taking me away from that terrible and scary place.

Michele and Niki Schroeder surprised me with a beautiful and soft quilt with my name in big red letters across the middle of it. I just had to try it out right away – and, oh MY, it felt REALLY good!

Then to top it off, my Foster Mom gave me the special flossie that Maureen sent for me. Remember Maureen?…the one to enjoy all by myself? Well, I did!…and once again, I can report that it was de-licious! Yum-aroooooo!!!! I wore my beautiful designer collar that Mama Cat Rudert sent to me – and it made me feel very handsome all day. My foster Mom says that it is my “Sunday-go-to-meet’in-collar” and so I wear it only when I go to special events.

I stayed on my new bed for most of the auction – except for the time when I went to give love to people to make sure that they were having a good time – and to thank them for coming to honor me and to help many other Basset Hounds who will come to Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas.

There was a really nice, genuine auctioneer there who could talk really fast. Most of the 85 items were sold and it brought in $2,329.50 that can be used for medical care for many Basset Hounds. Also, I received the First Annual Trooper Award – that will be given every year to a dog who has been very brave and beaten the odds to survive like I did. Hopefully I will be there to help give them the award for many years to come. I want people and other Basset Hounds to know that miracles are possible and that hope abounds at Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas.

Thank you again for all of your love, kindness, and support! I love arrooooooo!!!!

Your Trooper”

Wow, my jaw dropped when I saw that picture of Trooper! Can you even believe it? He looks like a basset hound now and not an armadillo! I swear he was so covered in mange he looked like a hard shelled armadillo to me.

Wow! Trooper! You are one handsome hound! Please wear your collar more! Every day is Sunday go to meetin’ day when you are as special as Trooper!

More meetin’ days later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

OMG! How wonderful! I should have gone to the auction but had made plans and couldn’t make it. Trooper looked like a king sitting on his blanket. How nice of Michele and Niki to give Troops that special blanket! He’s a very special boy to all of us. What a great heartwarming story.

Cat, I never thought of the armadillo. I know you were saying that just cuz he was in Texas. Shame on you! Ha! But your right, now that I look back that’s what it did look like. But now, just look at those loooong velvety basset ears and that strong healthy bod.

Trooper, you are the MOST HANDSOME HOUND!!!

    Cathy,

I couldn’t get over that photo either. Trooper looks like one handsome healthy Basset Hound. Trooper looks like he has never been sick or uncared for a day in his life. This is an excellent example of the difference love and care make in anyone’s life.

OH MY:) He looks wonderful, not the same hound we first saw. I had to cry seeing how he filled out and how his coat looked soft and full. You just want to get down on that bed and snuggle him and kisses that beautiful face. Thank you for the Trooper up date:)
