I could not capture the kids eating their frosty paws because it was gone in 30 seconds. But, here is a picture of Emma after she had frosty paws on her last birthday! You might remember it.

Howl much do we love our smiling Emma?

More screaming and smiling for Ice Cream later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

you most certainly don’t need to have eyes to have windows to her soul! a little ice cream helps tho!

i swear miss emma has the most expressive face in the world..just looking at her..she has such wisdowm..much more so now that she is blind…i think her eyes just got in her way…sometimes we need to look beyond the obvious to really “see” things..and miss emma brings that idea home like nobody else.

sorry chaps..you may be da mayor but she is my all time favorite.

Hi Lois! Miss Emma is very expressive. She is the grandest girl in the world. It was so much fun today after we planted Grandpa’s tree we loaded up to go get ice cream. She was so funny marching right up the ramp, her rear end swinging! She was so excited. I had the frosty paws in a bag of ice. I know she smelled them.

Oh, little moments in time. I just love that!

i had a friend over the other nite & she was looking at emma’s pix..& she commented on 1st her “eyes” & then how calming her face was…

& i told her how funny it was that she mentioned that…because it was that emma’s face has just that effect on me…just calms me right down…makes all stress just leave my body…

my friend is the proud owner of a deaf setter..who i adore..he is without a doubt the smartest dog in the world..altho when she first adopted him he was also the most trouble in the world (hence his name “little shit”..but the bond between the two of them is amazing & between he & i is very strong too. the communication is incredible..proving you don’t need sound to get your message across. i would adopt a deaf dog in a heartbeat.

blind and deaf dogs force us to access different ways of communicating to them..and listening…and really the only things they can not do…are see and hear.

    Lois –

Our Emma is the best just like all of our dear “disabled” hounds. I can go on an on about Emma. Last night she must have had a bad dream and cuddled up to me like glue. She was smelling all over me and loving me like maybe she could have lost me in her dream. I kind of knew it. I tucked her close and she let out a huge sigh. Chaps let her get in the prime position next to me. I could tell she was needing to be really close.

It is sweet to sleep with hounds. If you do, you get these moments during the night that mean so much! I love smiling during the night!

I just love ya’lls explanations of Emma. She’s a very special girl that’s for sure. I never get tired of seeing pictures of her. She’s definitely a gift from heaven.

I’m a Butter Pecan or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream fanatic.

During the summer Slinky gets one frosty paw a week usually on Saturday or Sunday. The weekends are special treat days for Slinky.

Does anyone remember Rainbow Cones or Green River soda? My dad used to take us for those during the summer and didn’t think the Kennedy Kids had it better than we did!

No Maureen – I don’t recall any of those! Sounds Yummy!
