I had to make a Basset Hound Town executive decision!

Here we have Mr. Thomas Jefferson, principle author of the Declaration of Independence.
Well, the Mayor, Emma and I had to make an executive decision today to use the money in our bassethoundtownrescue account for a basset hound in Standford, KY that was to be euthanized today.
It all came about very quickly. About 30 e-mails were going back and forth between about 5 people over the past 24 hours. They were calling him Randy but I felt that he should be given a name fitting of his independence on this 4th of July weekend.
Please meet Thomas Jefferson aka TJ. As you can see, he is howling,
“THANK YOU BASSET HOUND TOWN RESIDENTS!”
A gal named Kristie Jones offered to pull him, foster him, and get him vetted at a very affordable vet who offers fantastic pricing. I met Kristie when we were all working with Frankie.
“Cat, TJ is a WONDERFUL choice!!! I will forward you a copy of the vetting services available at cost..TJ BARELY made it out, Cat..”
Now we just need to find him a soft place to land.
This is all happening as I type. I think TJ is with Kristie now but her computer is not working!
I have asked for more pictures and a full report of Mr. Firecracker!
For now we only have these two.

How wonderful that we now have our first foster family!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, KRISTIE SO MUCH!!! Then to be able to take him to a vet that will give a discount is even better.
Cat, do you need more $$? Please keep us updated so we can keep money in our fund for these types of emergencies. Things do come up very fast sometimes and you have to be ready. It’s so scary when you don’t find out about a hound until the last minute. Sometimes even when you tell them to hold a hound the information doesn’t get passed and the next thing you know the hound is gone.
You are a lucky guy TJ! And you are very, very handsome. I can’t imagine how beautiful you will be with some good food and lots of love.

Yes, I will keep everyone posted. I have not heard from Kristie yet this morning. She was going to the Library yesterday to use their computers. She actually lives in the same town that this pound (Lincoln County) is in. It is about 3 hour due South of me. I am pretty nervous about the whole thing because I have no idea howl old he is, if he is neutered, if he is HW positive, or if he gets along well with others. We will soon find out. This stuff always seems to happen on a long weekend.

I just learned from Kristie that TJ is about 1 year old.
She is getting me more information…..
Cat, I’m sure TJ will be just fine. BBRTX has rescued 430 hounds so far and I can tell you that maybe 3 of those had personality issues or were too aggresive to handle. But, they did end up getting adopted out to someone who could handle their problems. So, it’s very unlikely that TJ won’t get along with others. I hope he’s HW- too. That’s an expense. Down here it’s cheaper to get dogs treated for HW’s because its so common and our vets are getting better and better at it so it’s getting more affordable. Thank doG!

Cat you made a good choice to use the money to help get this darling guy out of the pound. He looks very thin but otherwise healthy. Keep us posted on this as we cannot stand to see a fellow houndie in distress.
Cat….I’m sooo glad you pulled TJ from the pound. They all look soooo skinny, but we know from experience how beautiful they look when they have the proper care and love! Abby was a little skeleton when she left the pound….barely had strength to walk and you would never know it now. Thank you Kristie for being a foster Mom, please keep us all posted.
Still no news. I asked Kristie to call me with an update but I have not heard from her. This long weekend is not helping matters.
