Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and mad Raccoons with burnt lips lovers!

(not the actual raccoon but howl I picture him or her!)

By burnt, I mean with a Cayenne concoction Grandma and I whipped up!

It is about 2 tablespoons of ground cayenne red pepper and enough water so it could go into an eye dropper.

The chimes did not work, obviously! So, we decided to try this. Grandma really wants the tomatoes to ripen on the vine so this is our last ditch effort. We put it on all of the tomatoes yesterday.

The day before yesterday we had 4 of these….

Today we had one of those. If there are none tomorrow we will proceed with the concoction. If not and the little so and so likes hot pepper we will start pulling off the green ones to ripen inside.

Chaps is keeping a vigil by his worry bed.

That lasted about 3 minutes and then lights out! Don’t worry Mayor. Let the pepper sauce take over!

More about the hot tomatoes later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Cat, I think it’s birds. But whatever it is, let me know if the cayene works! I’ve given up on my plants. Nobody in this area had tomatoes because they are getting burned up by the heat. At 95 to 100 degrees since the beginning of May it’s been a very hot summer. I have 3 small ones and of course the biggest is getting eaten by the birds. I pulled a tiny one off today cuz it was finally turning and have one more tiny one then I give up. Oh well. I tried!

Cindy, this only happens during the night and today I noticed my neighbor’s trash turned over and rooted through. I thought it was ole burnt lips looking for fluid! hehehe

I know that there are a lot of raccoons around but I still have goldfish in my pond this year so they have not made it up to our deck. Our apples are all chewed up and we only have a few left. I gave up on tomatoes last year – not enough sun at our house. My blue and gold macaw was screaming last night and so I think something live was on the deck.

Judy, I cannot wait to meet your Macaw! I bet that bird is beautiful. Is it a girl or a boy?

When my mother planted vegetables and flowers she used to put moth balls around, and that kept rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc. away.

I have 3 large parrots. Sunday is a blue and gold macaw that was abused and only likes me. She is about 20 years old now and I have had her about 17 years. Snowbird is my umbrella cockatoo – she was my first “big bird” and is a real swetie. Snow is about 22 and I have had her for 18 years. She was abused and kicked by her former owners. We also have Buddy an african grey – Buddy came from a home that did not have time for him but he is very sweet now. Buddy is about 23 and I have had him for 16 years. All 3 birds talk but Buddy is by far the smartest and can mimic almost any sound in the house including the telephone. I will send you a picture of them. Note – birds are a LOT of work and they are very noisy and very few vets will see them – not everyone should own big birds and sometimes I question my sanity as to why I have 3 of them. It is a zoo around here.
